oo1. I've got headaches and bad luck. [open!]
Characters: Apollo Justice and you!
Setting: Room 4-20, the two libraries, and the fourth floor.
Format: I'll be starting with action, but I'll match whatever's given.
Summary: Curious lawyers and horror towers don't mix well. Apollo's arrival accommodates an abundance of apprehensive attempts to accustom an attorney to the abundance of aspects Animus animates.
Warnings: None that I can think of!
room 4-20 [closed to roommates].
[Apollo wakes with a start. Or, at least he would if he could. It doesn't take very long for the panic to set in - being of sound mind and body most of the time, the sleep paralysis is unusual, and it definitely doesn't help that he has no idea where he is. When the thirty seconds are up, he manages to stay in bed rather than roll out of it as quickly as he can. He takes his letter with shaking hands and tries to absorb the information all in one go. It doesn't work, of course, and he ends up sitting in bed, rereading the letters several times.
Once he puts down the papers, he goes to his trunk and stares at its contents. The tremble is still present, his eyes are unfocused, and he's trying his damnedest not to panic.]
floor 19 library.
[After tripping over several stair cases and almost forgetting about the existence of the elevator altogether, Apollo manages to find himself in the library. The relief that washes over him is evident in the color in his face - he looks livelier now, though you might be able to blame the flush on his running around. He pores over as many books as he possibly can, and his frustration over the lack of information about the tower slowly grows. If you were to speak to him, he might just break out an example of his Chords of Steel.]
floor 3 library.
[As he goes through the books on this floor, he seems to be taking his time. He has several stacks of books next to him as he sits alone at a table. It's always best to gather as much information on a subject before tackling it, Apollo believes in this firmly. Though by now, his shoulders are tense and each flick of the page seems to be wrought with irritation.]
floor 4 lounge.
[Having done as much research as he could manage, Apollo has decided that trying to get his mind in order is his best choice of action. He's curled up on a chair near the corner of the room, staring out the glass walls. That tension is still about him, clear in his tight shoulders and defensive posture - his knees are drawn to his chest and his arms are wrapped around them - but he seems to be calm and collected.]

that is an option indeed.
[Rubbing his forehead in thought. Then he sighs again, deflating.] But that's probably a good idea, yeah. I guess there are a lot of your of your type around here...? Ah, the fighting type, I mean.
Link thinks it is a really good option, she also suggests punching Jason in the face. : |b
[ Haha... ha... ]
They... have our souls, from what I understand. The collars keep us intact. But... you are correct. Not everyone can fight, however. Some are more gifted with magic, too.
[ Sorry, Apollo, but Link is from a world where there is absolutely no room for doubt about the whole soul thing--hell, they're apparently some form of reincarnated chosen hero, if a certain pre-Skyloft era knight chosen by Hylia is to be believed... ]
oh, if only apollo were the type to mess with authority figures.
So there's not much room for discrimination, huh... I guess they're aiming for mass rather than any specific ability.
Hmm. So what exactly-- goes on here? Monsters, death and rebirth... It can't all just be mindless, right?
he should go perceive Jason's weak points so LINK can go PUNCH THEM :Db
Well... the one who 'rescues' us can only pull one person at a time, and he is but a child. He does not discriminate. As for why... they claim it is to save us. I doubt this; we are often subjected to "experiments" and "games" that are anything but kind. If we were rescued, we would... be treated humanely here. I... have been part of many of one of the administrator's ideas of a "game," and they are all anything but fun.
[ They're not even remotely nice. Might as well be honest about it. ]
/stares intensely at the admins. GOTCHA! SIC EM, LINK!
Do they, at least, seem to have a purpose beyond making us suffer? With technology to "transfer our souls", I figure they can do whatever they want, but there should at least be a reason.
[For the sake of his sanity, Apollo's resorted to tackling this through logic. Monsters? Not his division.]
YES GOOD WE MAKE THE BEST PARTNERS, APOLLO >:3
... I wish I knew... what I can tell you is not all of the administrators are--or were--bad. The man who used to be here, he was... very kind. His name was Dax, he wanted us to be treated right, he really believed in us being here to be saved...
A timeless, elven warrior and a rookie defense attorney with good eyesight! Perfect!
I guess the next thing I'd like to know has to do with the monsters. What can you tell me about them?
THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM.
I can tell you they vary, by quite a large margin. From very small and deceptive ones to hellhounds and larger. There is one particular floor where they are all the size of buildings. Many of the creatures here seem to have a knack for disabling any kind of magic or abnormal abilities, as well--which is why I recommend people pick up some sort of weapon that is not dependent on magic to function. They generally come out at night time, though a few floors are always dangerous. To approach the Phantoms, for example, would be suicide--they disable magic at close range, cannot be simply cut open, and will drain your lifeforce, but a hellhound could be fought off easily enough with a sword and proper equipment to block the fire they breathe.

I-I see... It all sounds too fantastical to be true, but...
[What else can he say to that?] ...Maybe one day I'll try my hand at a weapon. I don't know if I can trust myself to walk around here without one.

[ And as if to prove a point, Link... removes an arrow from their quiver, and the arrow starts shining pure light at the tip, then it becomes cold and turns to a sort of blue frozen vapor all around the arrow. Zelda and the Great Fairy's gifts at work! ]
I am also available for archery lessons should you desire them. My name is Link, by the way. It is nice to meet you... given the circumstances.

It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Link. [Automatically assuming they're a boy because what kind of girl goes prancing about in that outfit, really.] I'm Apollo Justice, attorney at law. I really do appreciate all your help.
SORRY THIS IS SO LATE UGH
I have never heard of an attorney, but I am glad I can help! Is that... like a knight?
[ Yes, this is the closest thing to "law" that comes to Link's mind, oops. Does he look like a knight? No, but... maybe he's a special knight??? ]
LATE REPLY RIGHT BACK AT YA
No, no. Well-- maybe in the slightest sense. [He'll run with it!] We do protect people in a special way. When people are accused of breaking the law, attorneys like me defend them to make sure innocent people aren't convicted. Of course, not everyone we defend is innocent, but I can only hope that I take on innocent clients.
[His wallet would certainly appreciate it.]
idec if I'm eternally late, this is adorable u_u
... That sounds like a very admirable profession to take up. I like to believe there is good to most people myself, even those who may make mistakes, but you get to prove that, then...? And you help the innocent. That is a sort of heroism unto itself, after all--though...
[ And here there's a small chuckle. ]
... I do not imagine you get involved in the kind of swordplay I do, at any rate! But it sounds like an interesting duty. I would love to know what you do, and what it is like.
very! oh link~ what a cutie.
I'm glad you think so. I mean, I like to think so too, but lawyers don't exactly have the biggest fans. But... we expose the truth in ways others can't. It's our duty to justice.
[He rubs the back of his neck, still grinning.] No, not at all. But, ah, I guess I could try to explain it to you. It's not very glamorous. Though I would like to see more of what you do! Sword fighting and magic... Definitely more exciting than my job.
no subject
[ So, yeah, Link actually thinks Apollo is a WAY cooler hero than they are. ]
That said... I would not mind, though I am no knight, myself.
no subject
It's only fair. I mean, I could talk on and on about the legal system, but like I said, it's not very exciting. [He's still smiling, only teasing slightly.] I could even learn a thing or two from a small demonstration, and I bet that'd be pretty useful.
no subject
That sounds to me like you are ultimately just working toward making sure evil is punished, really. I think that is a noble goal.
[ But there's a small laugh. The library is certainly large enough... ]
A demonstration, though--it is little more than fancy footwork without an enemy, but... I suppose I could try.
no subject
[Bright-eyed and attentive, Apollo grins.] Go for it! Fancy footwork is still a sight to see.

Then, there's a bunch of very fast, flurry-like stabs, a sweeping cut forwards as if to knock the invisible foe back, and Link finishes it with a sweeping spin attack around them, the sword drawing flames as it goes; just enough room not to torch anything.
How's that for fancy footwork? ]
