Wannabe Locksmith

Characters: Ventus and evrr'bodyyyy
Setting: Room 1-16 and Floor Fifteen
Format: Have prose, will action for CR
Summary: Ven is keybladeless, so he undertakes an endeavor to try and fix his tragic keepsake. Except he is not handy at all.
Warnings: Group B paranoia ahoy, especially since he's working on a weapon. Also splinters.

[Room 1-16]

Ven didn't have any qualms about lending his glider to Romeo; sure, it was convenient getting around the tower, but he had more physical training than most people, so it just a minor nuisance. What he didn't realize at the time was that it also left him without his weapon. granted, he hadn't really done much fighting since the phantoms showed up, but it was always important to be prepared, and it was hard to pull off a cure spell without the keyblade to focus his magic.

So his next idea was the broken training Keyblade he had gotten from Terra. Ven was kneeling in front of his trunk in his room, holding the two halves of the keyblade, one in each hand, looking at them with an uncharacteristic frown. He didn't even know how it had broken, because it was certainly in one piece when he had last seen it. Wonder what had happened....

[Floor Fifteen]

He couldn't spend forever moping around in his room though; there were people who were horribly disfigured and he had to do something to be on the way to helping! Ven had taken the two halves of the keyblade and ran off to the 15th floor. It was just a wooden dummy blade, but it was important to him! And since it was wooden, it couldn't be that hard to fix, right?

Of course Ven had about zero craftmanship skills, so even though he was set up with both halves on a work table, he had no real idea what he was doing. So he was basically going to go about this via trial and error. Someone stop him?

[Room 1-16] If this is okay... Link doesn't exactly knock in canon >>

Because Link had never exactly been one to knock on doors inside the many dungeons that he had traveled and explored, the tower he was now imprisoned in was no different. Every door held a secret and its own chest of treasures. He had learned that every time he tried to take anything from those chests, he would get shocked. No matter, there was no penalty in looking.

The hero of Hyrule was meandering about when he opened a random door to find another boy inside. The change of events didn't seem to be a problem. Door shut behind him, he fancied the boy with a smile, this must be his room or he's probably looking for treasure too, he thought to himself.

[Ren the explorer was doing what she does best, exploring on floor 15 when Ven arrives. She looks up from whatever she was messing with to greet him.]

Ven.

[Room 1-16] Hi neighbor

[identity profile] lethechained.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé did not want to be a bother. This was why when she went out trying to find things to distract herself from that hopeless feeling that wouldn't leave her be, it was alone. She didn't seek out company, even though she was well aware that it would probably help more than anything else (because even if she couldn't be hopeful for herself she could be hopeful for someone else). Today's visit, instead, besides having the pleasant side-effect of being a distraction, was about the people she was visiting; she still hadn't heard much about how things were going with Eiji, and that needling hopeless feeling had not helped make her optimistic about it, so she'd decided she might as well pop over and check, considering they were next door, after all, which was why she happened to knock on the door about then.

well I was in the neighborhood so

"Hello, Ven." She offered him a small smile that didn't require too much work. "Nothing, I just... thought I'd come see how you and Roxas were doing." Her eyes flickered toward what of the room she could see behind him briefly then back to his face. "You know, with...?" Eiji, but she wasn't so sure she should say that unless she was sure he wasn't around to hear it; she didn't particularly savor the idea of upsetting anyone.

Awesome! Knocking is for normal people, not BAMF's

Link moved farther into the new bedroom, his smile fading to a neutral look as he looked around the place. He was used to exploring without any hesitations, what some people might consider rude entering Link saw it as nothing more than normal. He was trying to save everyone, after all.

"I'm Link." He responded, finally eying that open chest and then the broken weapon in his hand. "This is your room?" You never knew, he couldn't be the only one who liked treasure chests.

will do o7

She tilted her head slightly, a very faint frown on her lips. "Oh." --No, no, look on the bright side. "Right. Everyone can stay here again. That's... something." She nodded when he mentioned that the room was empty. That answered that question, but there was still another, even if it wasn't a pleasant topic.

"...Did you ever find out what happened to Roxas? In the library...?"

She'd put off getting a better look at the 15th floor, but if it had something she could use to get anyone's attention, she'd use it. So far though, all Marceline was seeing was the materials for making something new. She'd have to keep this place in mind if she decided to do something with that suit she'd woken up in, she decided, and started to leave.

That was, until she noticed the blond boy looking at the wooden thing in front of him on the table. "It's not going to fix itself, kiddo." she said, floating over. "What happened?"

Finally, someone who understands!

[identity profile] triforcewielder.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm exploring."

Link didn't even hesitate to respond, blue eyes curiously following those halves. It looked liek a tool or perhaps a weapon. Had the boy broken it? Did he need it fixed? Did the boy need anything?

"Need help?" Because people always needed help, no matter where he was.

[Floor 15] ven you're doing it wrong

[identity profile] prayerless.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It was the paranoia that had made her grab her long-deceased master's Keyblade from her trunk. She cared for it daily, cleaning and polishing it with the same care that she gave her armor, but the thought had never struck her to actually use it until, for some reason, she felt it was absolutely necessary to take any measure to defend herself. She hadn't practiced with two Keyblades, but she'd figure it out.

Aqua was slowly descending the highest floors to better acquaint herself with them, stopping every time a stray noise sounded over her shoulder. She eventually came to the fifteenth floor, where a familiar shock of spiky blond hair was waiting.

Despite the jumpiness, Aqua smiled. "Ven," greeted the woman as she began to approach. "What are you doing?"

nuh-uh, there's not even gems involved

[identity profile] prayerless.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Aqua closed the majority of the rest of the space between her and Ven so that she could look over his shoulder at the work table, eyebrows knitting together. Her first response was to glare at the poor dummied out weapon as if it had done her some personal offense. In truth, the blade hadn't done anything to her, but the one that had broken it certainly did.

It wasn't worth troubling Ven over right now, though. There was a more important matter she needed to press. "To fight? What happened to your Keyblade?" questioned the mage in confusion, gaze breaking from the wooden Keyblade so she could instead look at her friend.

come on haven't you ever heard of wood glue

[identity profile] prayerless.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Her expression turned considerably more troubled at that, and she shook her head to punctuate her answer: "No."

Ven's next sentence was nothing less than alarming, and Aqua's eyes widened accordingly. "They what?" If Ventus' friend had been turned into a deer, then, what about the others...?

She may have chided him for not thinking about the fact that he'd be without a weapon for doing that, but it was honestly such a Ven thing to do, she didn't have the heart to scold him. She looked to the Master Keeper clutched in her right hand, and then into the empty palm of her left. After a moment of consideration, Stormfall came to life in her vacant hand.

She offered the newly-summoned weapon to Ven. "Use mine until you get yours back, okay?" Her Keyblade wasn't as well-suited for a reverse grip and was a good bit longer than Wayward Wind, not to mention it completely lacked a curve. But spells would manifest much more easily for Ven by simply holding it; hopefully the ease of Cure spells would compensate.

HI BIG BROTHER

Romeo saw Ven in the workshop and started to fly over, his walking was getting better because he still made himself practice but he got tired so easily and his legs sometimes just wouldn't hold his weight. "Hello Ven! What are you doing?"

He jumped off the hoverboard and held it in his mouth and walked the rest of the way. He put the hoverboard down by the side before speaking again, "Do you need help?" Ven had been nice enough to lend him his flying board do Romeo wanted to help him in return.

[identity profile] lethechained.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded, trying to smile when he laughed. "Anybody would be, I think."

He wasn't the only one sighing. "...Mm. Maybe we'll... figure it out some day." This was apparently another conscious attempt to look on the bright side, even if the bright side was something about finding out a reason for a friend's death.
