Characters: ProtoSaber and you!
Setting: Various floors; dorms, the beach on floor 62, the kitchen on floor 60, and the cafeteria.
Format: Prose to begin with, but I will match you.
Summary: Saber has just arrived in the Tower and he is searching for his Master. (Note: If you've started a thread with Saber in the Test Drive Meme and would like to continue it here, just drop me a note!)
Warnings: Uh. A King Arthur who's a dude.

♔ DORMITORIES
Immediately upon his awakening, the first thing Saber thinks to do is, predictably, look for Ayaka. This is not to say that their sudden, inexplicable change of location and the documents the apparent "hosts" of this strange place provided for him do not concern him, for they do, but what is the point of worrying about any of that if he is not with his Master? For a Servant, being unable to sense the Master's presence is more than simply alarming— it serves as knowledge of how real the likelihood of vanishing is; for Saber, it is proof of his failure to fulfill his purpose, his only goal, because neither he nor Ayaka ever wanted the Grail and all the pursuit of it entails.

He checks every floor of the dormitories and finds evidence of the girl being somewhere in the Tower — her name on a wall — but he has yet to find her. Asking around doesn't seem to get him much either, so he tries to think like Ayaka. Where would she spend her time? What would she do while here alone? Stay somewhere safe... The living quarters seem to be the best place for that so far...

Ah, but Ayaka is a human girl. She does need to eat.

♔ FLOOR 62 ; BEACH
As luck would have it, the cafeteria is near the ground level of the tower and while that didn't seem like it would be trouble at first, realizing that the dormitories are on the highest floors of a tower that seemingly stretches on forever was a shocking moment. Just what was this place? Saber opted for the stairs and as he began his descent, he checked several floors in hopes he'd come across one that seemed like an ideal hiding place for one particular awkward, teenaged girl.

One such floor is obviously supposed to be a beach, but as far as Saber knows, it's not possible to contain an entire beach complete with its own sun and wind, brine and sand, indoors. It's unnatural, therefore the only reasonable explanation he can come up with is magi. Obviously, magic on a scale he's seen only a few times in his life. He doesn't know enough about magecraft to know if this is even possible for an average magus. Some time spent surveying the waves leads him not to trust the safeness of the water's movements and he has to wonder why someone would craft an ocean that seems so eager to swallow someone up.

♔ FLOOR 60 ; KITCHEN
Knowledge of modern technology imparted upon him from the Holy Grail only goes so far when it comes to understanding all the equipment inside the huge kitchen. He understands refrigeration and some of the tools, but he's never seen a freezer as large as the one he finds here, so he walks inside of it, curious.

"Do they prepare meals here? It's still a long ways from the cafeteria."

♔ CAFETERIA
With the amount of people bustling around, a mealtime is underway and everything smells rather... floral. Being a Servant of sorts, Saber doesn't require food or sleep, but as he passes some of the tables, he can't help glancing at the plates of food and wondering what they taste like. It's been a very long time since he's enjoyed such a well prepared meal and a good cup of tea. Perhaps if Ayaka is here...

It's just four floors up from here. Come with me, and I'll find Ayaka for you.

[ Four floors is still a long way as far as Saber is concerned, but more importantly than the topic of where they're going to fight, is the topic of why Lancer seems actually willing to help him find his Master. He thinks about what Archer told him. ]

Why? Why would you bother?

Because she wants to see you. Duh.

That wasn't exactly my question. Why do you care about that?

She's my Master. Pretty much the duty of a Servant to get their Master what they want.

[That, and he took a fancy to her. He wanted to see her happy.]

She's not your Master.

[ This being the second time he's heard that now, it's less likely to be untrue, Saber realizes, but it doesn't stop him from stubbornly refuting it. He won't believe it until Ayaka tells him. ]

[Lancer's eyes narrow and his mouth curls into a leering grin that shows off his fangs.]

Maybe not to your memory, but she's my Master here. We even have a contract and a spirit link. Why don't you ask her when you find her?

[ The other Servant's confidence irritates him. ]

I plan to, so you see I don't have time to waste, Cu Chulainn.

Oh, really?

[His leer becomes a snarl.]

You sure took your sweet time getting here!

As if I could have helped that!

[ All right, now he wants to hit Lancer really hard himself. ]

If you've left her to be alone with Archer, you're hardly one to point fingers on the topic of incompetent Servants! I won't ask what else you spend all your time doing, but it's clear your duties as her Servant rank second to you, despite your gloating that you've a Contract.

[He doesn't have any comebacks for Saber. He just throws a fist at the other Servant's smug face.]

[ Saber doesn't get a chance to jump backwards out of range; he blocks with a forearm and really wishes he thought to put his armor on when he spotted Lancer. Maybe a gauntlet slammed into his nose would give the other Servant reason to pause before deciding to act like an idiot around him next time. (Ah, wishful thinking, again, most likely.) He counters with his bare right fist, meaning to uppercut Cu Chulainn's chin. ]

[Lancer blocks Saber's punch with his freehand, then aims a kick right up at Saber's ribs.]

[ The hit lands and knocks Saber back, but he's quick to retaliate and he no longer cares whose meal is disturbed by his fight with Lancer. He lunges at the other Servant, hoping to throw him through the tables and chairs and even the wall. ]

[Lancer crashes through a table. He grabs one of the broken table's halves and chips it at Saber's face.]

[ Saber throws himself out of the way and the table hits the wall, smashing into more pieces, and he rushes the other Servant without a second thought. ]

[Lancer gets tackled and the two go rolling. He tries to kick Saber off of him.]

[ The kicks aren't the problem, but Saber doesn't stay on top of Lancer for long-- just long enough to deck him a few times in the face. ]

[Lancer wipes the blood away from his nose and mouth and tackles Saber again. He's pretty pissed that Saber managed to hit him.]

[ The other Servant's speed serves him well; Saber goes down with a frustrated growl. He's quickly scrambling to take control back though, pushing himself off the floor with his hands. ]

[Lancer reaches out to try to slam Saber's head into the ground.]

[ Saber's vision flashes white as his forehead slams hard into the floor, the steel bending beneath the force of the hit. A thunderclap of pain explodes behind his eyes and he winces, feeling nauseous suddenly. Spurred by the desperation that the injury has brought up, he growls and throws back his arm to elbow Lancer in the face. ]

[And now Lancer rears back, cradling his nose. His face is covered in blood right now. He wipes it away and goes back to grab Saber's chestplate before the other Servant can get up.]

[ Saber glowers over his shoulder when he feels himself being pulled back involuntarily. He wills away his armor so he's out of Lancer's hold and he prepares to throw his fist again. Before he actually does it though, he decides to give the other Servant a chance to wise up. He is bleeding quite a lot now and it's only going to get worse from here. ]

Stop before I really hurt you.

I'm the one who should be saying that! You're the one who let Ayaka wait so long in this place!

[Lancer might be still, but he's glaring at Saber.]
