Characters: Ren, open!
Setting: Floor Ten
Format: Action or prose.
Summary: Ren tries to drink the aquarium water.
Warnings: Nothing right now.
[As the days go on, Ren is starting to notice many things about this tower. One is that it's crawling with living people, something she is both frightened and astonished by. The second is that there's many weird treasures and cool things she's never seen before. One of those floors she's exploring happens to be the aquarium.
She walks around, staring at all the fish and curiously poking at them. Some try to bite her and when that happens, she jumps back. Other times they just follow her finger with their eyes. In one that seems safe, or at least without any fish that feel like nipping her, she purses her lips and tries to get a drink.
Unfortunately that water happened to be the salty kind. She immediately pulls back and sticks out her tongue. She rubs at her face with her arms to get the salt out of her eyes, making a disgusted expression.]
Yuck! I don't like it.

[Have a Tavros, Ren. He looks pretty depressed, though.]

[The salt stings her eyes a little, so she rubs them a bit more before trying to get a look at him. It's still a surprise when people come up and talk to her.]
Who are you?
no subject
If you don't mind me asking, who are you?
no subject
[People sure have some weird names here. She seems to think about it, counting the syllables in her head. It's a short name too.]
I don't mind. I'm Ren.

[He kinda hates feeling like he is now, but he just can't help it.]
no subject
[Probably not what he wanted to hear. Obviously there's a way out if he came in.]

He sees someone playing with the water up ahead, smiling weakly. Some good in a place full of bad would keep him from goi-- was she drinking from it?]
[Sam approaches with an amused yet concerned frown on his face. He's so going to be watching to make sure she doesn't keel over in the next ten minutes.]
Probably because you're not supposed to drink it.

...Why is the water bad?
no subject
... because it has too much salt.
[Yeah. Moving on. Turns from the aquarium and smiles at her in a friendly kind of way.]
I'm Sam.
no subject
[She needs to know because that's making everything taste awful. Seeing him smile makes the uneasy feeling of meeting others fade a little. It doesn't feel like there's danger here right now.]
Sam. It's short.
[She likes it.]
I'm Ren.
no subject
People cook with it. A little can help make food taste better, but too much...
[Gestures to the tank; she'll probably get the picture.]
So, Ren, how long have you been awake?
no subject
It's gross when you have too much. That's water for fish only.
[The next question is weird to her.]
I've been awake since I woke up.

I don't think you should drink that. [Talking to them was the best way to make them disapear if they wern't real]
no subject
It's bad water. I don't want to drink it anymore.
no subject
It's fish water of course it's bad. If you're thirsty there's water in the cafeteria.
no subject
...
[Not that she could do anything about it other than watch for now. ]
Do the fish make it bad?
no subject
Not the fish themselves, but sometimes water needs to be warm for fish to live in, or salty and its still water, its not running anywhere which means it's not god to drink.
no subject
The water is running...
[She raises her arms in the air.]
That way. The other way too. It's in the air.
[Either way, she won't drink it again. It tastes disgusting.]

it's by complete chance that he's walking by the little girl, making a rather studious show of ignoring her presence completely, when she jerks back from the water (...was she licking it, what is even)-- and right into his legs.]
--Hey...
[e... err. squint...
...it's a little
cutething... /TSUNDERE WAVES...]no subject
Until he spoke.]
...We're touching.
[She spends a few long seconds realizing what this entails. With her eyes still closed from getting some salt water in them, she immediately stands up and takes a few steps back.]
Who are you?
no subject
her reaction throws him for a loop, and he is looking at her like she's a strange animal in his vicinity he doesn't know what to do with.]
...It's none of your business.
You should be more aware of your surroundings. This place isn't safe for children to be wandering around unchecked. [NOT THAT HE CARES... NO...... NEVER........ at all...]
no subject
Since it doesn't seem like she needs to run away, she starts rubbing at her eyes and blinks until she can see again. It's too bad her cat isn't here. He'd be able to tell if this person was good or not. It's not safe though? She doesn't see any danger or she'd be long gone, but...]
Are the fish monsters?
no subject
Monsters come in all shapes and forms. It isn't the ones in there you should be worried about.
no subject
[She's talking about creatures from her own world. He's alive, obviously, he'll have to be careful too.]
