[semi-open!] I believe in you and I can do anything; we can change the world!

Characters: Yukiko Amagi, the entirety of the Persona cast and Stregaverse, and trusted friends. Please tag yourselves in! New Purse Owners, you're welcome here!

(Xion, OU!Riku, AU!John Egbert, Saber of White, Diarmuid, Zelda, Shepard - if you have close positive CR with a Persona cast member, it's fine.

If you have any kind of negative CR, or your CR is only casual, I ask that you please not tag this.)

Setting: July 8th, 2 PM, Floor 28.
Format: Written in prose, either in comments.
Summary: Yukiko requested a meeting.
Warnings: Persona 4 Arena spoilers, talk about past Tower events, probably some language - not from Yukiko, but from other people.

Before the Meeting:

To say Yukiko was nervous was an understatement. She picked a few notes at the piano she'd chosen to call the meeting together on - she could play a loud middle C, but that was it - now and then, but she was still pacing a little and definitely nervous. Anyone wanting to approach her to calm her down would be most appreciated.

A tag in which I try to sound like I know what I am talking about when I really don't. Ehehehe...

"Ramble all you wish, Yukiko. As you talk, it helps me fit more things in place about how your abilities work and that is important if I am going to be teach you--even if I am focusing on teaching you non-magical ways of fighting. It is actually nice to find someone who prefers to duel-wield. While I can single and duel-wield weapons equally well, I do prefer duel-wielding. It is more me. That is part of the reason why I miss my other spear so much and why I spend so much time practicing with the non-magical paired swords my friend made for me.

"If your case, knives might not be a bad choice and their smaller size means if you have to sacrifice one for throwing, it will be easier to replace it. However, there is another option you might wish to consider," Diarmuid motions to her fans. "I am not sure how strong your fans are when not augmented by your Persona's power, but there are versions of fighting fans with edges as sharp as any knife. There are also versions that hold hidden blades that can be triggered. Neither of these are meant to be thrown and neither require great strength to do damage. It would make more sense to alter the training you do have instead of making you learn something completely new. I realize that fighting style would mean getting in closer to your enemy and I know you prefer range, but you are also agile and fast from your dance training. If we focus on increasing those skills while you learn the bladed fans, it is possible you may become so fast that it won't matter that you are having to close in on someone. You will be gone so quickly they won't have a chance to strike at you.

"In addition, if the fans are made well enough, they can be used not only offensively, but defensively as well...as shields in case, for whatever reason, you cannot escape fast enough."

"Muscle memory...yes, that is the modern term for knowing something so well you don't have to think about it to do it anymore, correct?" Diarmuid doesn't really wait for an answer because the Grail supplies him with the information and he had been really talking to himself more than anything. When he speaks again, however, it is obvious his attention is fully back on her, "Those kind of actions can literally be the difference between life and death and once learned can be almost impossible to unlearn. Trying to often just leads to you making mistakes when you can ill afford to make them. Getting used to a difference in weapon weight will happen more quickly than totally changing something you have learned so well.

"I have been experimenting with weapon-making since I got here, but considering I am learning from scratch I would not be the right one to ask about making such a weapon. There is a talented blacksmith by the name of Thorin Oakenshield here who might be able to help us. That kind of weapon would likely be beyond what he is used to making, but I expect with help he would be able to make a very good set of fans for you with a little guidance and his people don't seem to be the kind to back away from weapon making challenges.

"If he is unable to help, the friend who made me my swords is also an option, but he is not nearly so skilled as Thorin is. Also, I expect that there are many others who can make weapons in the Tower. It would be just a matter of asking them. Perhaps in some kind of Network post?"
