Shadows Rise
Characters: Prussia or Sephiran or Sephira... plus you.
Setting: Varying places
Format: Starting off in prose, but I'll follow you.
Summary: An event catch-all post for my characters! It'd probably be best if you specify who you're interacting with in your subject header.
Warnings: DESPAIR. Other than that, I'm not sure, because I don't think anyone is going to die...? Also, maybe a bit of TL;DR. Sorry.
Prussia- Floor 4
Prussia had been lingering on the lower floors these days, not willing to go all the way up and down the tower when he just wanted to hang out (that elevator had better be fixed soon). Right now, he was in the lounge on the fourth floor, boredly stretching out on a couch and playing with his little yellow bird. Every once in a while it would flicker back into his mind that this wasn't really his bird, but a bizarre film construction. He would also ignore the fact that he had buried what might have been a relative (he insisted) of his yellow bird just yesterday. He ignored all those thoughts, just like he would ignore the shadow child that dogged his every step.
At least, he could ignore the shadow child till it spoke with his brother's voice.
"Prussia... you have truly hit rock bottom, haven't you?"
"West?" Prussia said, immediately sitting up and staring at the shadow child.
The shadow continued to speak with Germany's voice. "Who would have thought that the sole survivor of our world would be one of the most useless nations around? No, you're not even a nation anymore, are you? You barely even had a connection to a country when the world was alive. Now that it's all dead, you literally represent nothing. Interesting how that works out, isn't it?"
"West, no..." Prussia's face began to fall and consternation knotted in his stomach. He didn't represent nothing. He still had people when the world was alive, even if they weren't quite his original ones. But the shadow child had a point... what about now?
"Germany" continued. "Now, here in this tower, you barely even have your own will anymore. The administrators can take it from you whenever they want. What have you got now, former nation?"
The term "former nation" set something off in Prussia's mind. "I do have my will! I've got something!" he shouted, knowing that he had absolutely no idea what that "something" was. He clutched his bird close to his chest, partly protecting it from the shadowy "menace" and partly because he needed to feel some proof that he was still real. If he wasn't a nation now, what was he? Nothing?
Sephiran- Floor 100
Sephiran had been stopped on his way down to breakfast by two shadow children. He could have gone right through them just as he had a few times already, but right now he didn't. Why not? Both shadows said his name with two distinct voices: that of a man, and that of a young girl. Zelgius and Sanaki's voices.
The one with Sanaki's voice spoke first. "How could you do this to us? You've betrayed us all! Never mind the fact that you sought to destroy the world and succeeded. You abandoned your empress to die! You fed me twisted lies and used me like you did everyone else! Didn't you?"
The one with Zelgius's voice followed. "My lord sage... I said I would wait for you in the afterlife. It seems that I will never get that chance now. You could not say if joining you would redeem me, and I did not expect redemption. I did not, however, expect this."
In shock, Sephiran stepped back onto the main part of the floor, activating the floor's holograms. Serenes Forest... no. This was the last place he wanted to hear their voices, especially considering the gift he had received just the day before. "Please, listen to me," he said. "I did not destroy our world. Some force, possibly from this world, did-"
"You wanted to," "Sanaki" said. "You wanted to destroy the world, and you did. That's all that matters. Don't try to deny it."
"Zelgius" spoke up next. "Our world is now one with Serenes Forest. I do not regret having a part in this act, but if I knew the extent to which you wanted death upon the world... I might have reconsidered."
Sephiran could not protest that this was not his fault. Even if the world wouldn't be destroyed to the extent it was now, he still wanted everything wiped out... the end of all that was. He had indeed betrayed and used a great many people to reach this end, including Sanaki and Zelgius. Faced with the shadows of his sins and unable to console them, he did the only thing he could do. He covered his face with his hands and wept.
Sephira- Floor 99
Sephira had been backed up against the wall of the stairwell by her six shadow children. It wasn't so much that she didn't know that she couldn't go through them as it was that she wasn't willing to. Each one spoke with the voice of someone she knew:
"I don't care if you think actually killing a simulacrum crossed the line! You should have stuck to your duties! Not that it matters, since it's just a miracle the girl survived and you were too late to stop the procedure anyway." Carmina.
"Perhaps the destruction of you world was punishment for refusing the Simulacrum System. If you continued to use it, you might have been able to fight off whatever destroyed our world." Olivia.
"Why was I so tolerant and accepting of you? You were the one who was using our souls! I should have stopped trusting you the moment you said you couldn't do anything about the Simulacrum System!" Echo.
"I had every reason to be suspicious of you. Echo should have been suspicious of you as well. It must have been only a fluke that you wanted to save Mia. I'm sure you just wanted more souls to use, after all." Gold.
"So much for saving me! You just got me killed again, and for real! How can I say that this wasn't your plan all along? I never trusted you. You were and are the enemy." Mia.
"Well, this is a real step backward, isn't it? In refusing the technological advancements brought on by the Simulacrum System and by a potential sacrifice, you've only gone backwards, not forwards. And it brought about the end of the world as we know it. Good job, Sephira." Dr. Kana.
All Sephira could do was press herself into the wall and mumble frantic pleas to the shadows.

...Huh?
Re: floor 4
My brother was talking to me, except it wasn't really my brother... it's one of those shadow things I've been hearing about.
["So quick to deny the facts," the shadow says. Prussia twitches a bit.]
There he goes again...
Re: floor 4
[Rei hugs her arms around herself as a multitude of voices start up from the shadow children following her. Her sisters, all accusing her of abandoning them when she was just as expendable.]
...It hurts, right?
no subject
[Once again, the voice. "Refuse to believe all you want, but it's true. You have no country and you barely have anything else." It makes Prussia turn back to the shadow.]
Stop that!
no subject
['But not everyone has a "self" worth keeping around. There are some who are expendable. We are expendable. We, the created ones.']
no subject
using this for some serious!Rei icons
['Because you've never had a real cause for living.']
no subject
["And they fell hard."]
no subject
[A pause.]
At least I think and look sixteen. But wow, you're 700? No wonder you've got gray hairs.
no subject
[Beat.]
Hey, my hair has always been like this, even when I was a kid! It's kind of weird, I know. No one knows why.
no subject
Maybe it's just the way you were made?
['Silly, silly Rei. Not everyone is created like you. Not everyone is a monster.']

["You can barely called naturally occurring yourself. What kind of nation is an army with a country, anyway?"]

Floor 99
"Seek your friends," he calls weakly, approaching her.
"Those probably are her friends, just like us," says Armaros-shadow. "Why are you telling her to replace her friends?"
no subject
"We're right here," Carmina's voice says in Sephira's ear. "Except this time, we can't just oh-so-freely give you the counsel you want."
no subject
"Haven't kicked me out yet!" Armaros says, obviously proud Enoch hasn't found a bond that trumps his. In normal circumstances, Enoch would be proud too.
no subject
"And whose fault is that?" Dr. Kana says this time. "If you had just stuck with the Simulacrum System, this wouldn't have happened."
no subject
Well, if he could drive off all of Rick's shadows after only meeting the man in favorable conditions twice...
"They can be saved. Not right this moment, but we know there's a way to put broken souls back together."
"But you don't know what that is," Lucifel points out, deadpan.
"Didn't I go over this already with Lancer?" Armaros asks.
no subject
"You just want us whole so you can use us again," Mia-shadow said.
no subject
"And again," Lucifel starts, but he pauses. "No, you know what, I'm not going over this again. You know you have no idea what it means."
no subject
Apparently, Shadow-Kana thought so. "What could you do, anyway? You're just a tool for the use of the Simulacrum System that you rejected. What purpose is left."
She did, however, remember one thing, even as she winced from the shadow's remark. "This may seem like an odd question, but... are you Enoch?"
Sorry, I forgot to turn off notifs on drinking post so I have to fish out all my tags...
He shouldn't really be surprised his name is going around, he really shouldn't. But he is anyway.
"So you're making a name for yourself here, too?" said Armaros. "Why? It will all be over in less than a year..."
