Round Two at the Scary Tower
Characters: Kairi (
luckycharmed) and OPEN
Setting: Dormitories, Kitchen, Mailroom, etc.
Format: Anything is fine. I'll start in third, but I'll match you
Summary: Kairi's arrival, trip to the mailroom, and just all around wandering after unsuccessfully trying to use a terminal
Warnings: None for now?
Kairi woke in her assigned room with a sudden gasp. Her eyes darted back and forth around the room, and the memories of the Tower flooded back without warning. Her sleep paralysis held long enough for it all to sink in, and then the red head stumbled to the feet.
She knew this place. She remembered being here before and just about everything that had happened during her first stay. Not that she was glad for that or happy to be back again, but if she remembered correctly, she still had people here she knew and could count on. Despite the initial desire to find her friends, Kairi took a moment to reread the letters provided to her, check the trunk at the foot of her bed, as well as leave the room. She needed a moment to get her bearings and see jut how much of this place she knew.
She knew could use the elevator, as well as find food on the first floor. But she looked around a bit more, and even found her way to the mailroom. Of course, it didn't take long for the Tower to mess with her via the blood soaked charm she found in the box with her name on it. The charm she had given to Sora for safe keeping. After finding that, Kairi made a beeline to a network terminal, only to find that after trying to send a message, it was warped and almost completely unintelligible.
And so now it's up to you, where you find the young girl as she looks wanders the tower with a desperate expression. Help her out, maybe?

Thankfully, seeing Kairi momentarily distracts him, and he bolts over to her straight away.]
Kairi!
[Is it the same one as before? How long has she been back? So many questions, so little time.]
no subject
And then suddenly he's not hiding and coming towards her. She looks relieved.]
Riku! You're still here! [At least, she hopes it's the one she's thinking of.]
no subject
Once he reaches Kairi, he cracks a smile-- albeit a weak one. It's hard to truly feel joy when you're being cornered and pursued by familiar oices saying twisted words.
But watch him try to hide his wariness anyway.]
Yeah, it's me. It's... good to see you again.
no subject
And that weak smile causes her to study him carefully.]
You too. [Her hand tightens around the bloody charm she's carrying.] I was getting really scared...
no subject
[He inhales deeply, one hand hovering over her shoulder. He's not the best with physical contact, but he has to at least do something to comfort her.]
Things are kind of hectic right now, but you're not alone, okay? I'm not going anywhere.
no subject
Thanks, Riku. [She takes a deep breath herself.] I wanted to check on Sora after finding this -[She indicates the charm.] but I couldn't get that terminal to work.
I just want to know what's going on in this place.
no subject
One of them shakes its head.
You can't replace me, Riku. You know that as well as I do.
Guh. Right now, he needs to stay focused.]
Honestly, I'm still trying to figure that out. A few days back, there was an explosion, one of the admins threw a fit, and now these shadows are crawling out of the woodwork.
[And speaking in voices he thought he'd longed to hear.]
If it helps, though, I did see Sora not too long ago. He's gotta be around here somewhere.
no subject
So it's even worse than normal around here.... [Her eyes are drawn to the shadows after Riku mentions them, and she instinctively flinches back from them.] What are they?
[She may not be able to hear them, but they're still creepy. The only comfort comes from Riku's final statement about seeing Sora earlier.] Y-Yeah, I'm sure he's okay. He has to be. But it couldn't hurt to look around for him, could it?
no subject
[He hesitates, pressing one hand against his temple. When he speaks again, it's with a softer tone. Almost subdued.]
I don't know. They say they're people from my world-- what's left of them. Knowing this place, it's possible, but you won't believe the things they've said.
[Don't be too sure, Fake. I bet even she can see what a chump you are; she's probably just pretending to care.
Riku shoots a glare at the shadow.]
I didn't ask you.
[Sigh. He probably sounds crazy right about now.]
Anyway, I'll keep my eyes peeled for him. Let's just hope he didn't get lost.
[It's an attempted joke, but it probably comes across as stilted at best. Really, he doesn't feel like snarky comments right now.]
no subject
Why don't you all just go away and leave him alone. [She waves her hands at the shadows, though she's not sure how much good that'll do. Then she turns her attention back to her friend.]
And you never know what'll happen when Sora is involved.
no subject
You can't hide behind her forever...
Maybe not, but he can at least stick close by for now. Despite the urge to snap back, he keps his eyes fixed on Kairi and shrugs.]
See, that's why Sora either needs a leash or some kind of tracking device. Then it'd be a cinch to bail him out.
no subject
[A sigh.]
too bad we don't have those for him. it would make things easier for us. But for now, we'll just do what we can... where do you think we should head first?
no subject
With them moving back, he heaves a huge sigh of relief.]
We could just work our way down. If we go floor by floor, we'll probably find him sooner or later.
no subject
That sounds good to me. Do you want to sit and rest for a minute though?
