Yotsuba!&...

Characters: Yotsuba and you!
Setting: Dorm Room 2-07, the Meadow, and the Mailroom.
Format: I'm starting in prose, but I'll match you!
Summary: After waking up and seeing that Daddy and Jumbo are gone, Yotsuba decides to take Lucifel's advice to heart..and starts making flower crowns and pictures in the meadow, which will be delivered to her friends in the mailroom.
Warnings: Other than loads of cute, nothing at the moment.

When Yotsuba woke up, she didn't expect to be in her bed, like she had the first two times she died. Nor was she expecting the absence of Daddy or Jumbo. Had they run back to their hiding place? Or..maybe the bad people were keeping them away, since they had enchanted them. She knew that Daddy and Jumbo couldn't kill her, so Lucifel had probably put her in bed when she fell asleep. She knew what death was..she just wasn't used to waking up from a peaceful death before.

However, remembering Lucifel reminded Yotsuba of something she had to do to help people, so when she was finally able to move around, she put on her sling, the sash that held the pouch for her sling bullets, gathered up her sketchbook and crayons and set out for the meadow.

Yotsuba, sadly, was not prepared for the weather. While she loved the rain, she was smart enough to know that you couldn't draw on soggy paper. So, she had to quickly run back to the dorm, leave her things there, and run into the stormy meadow to pick flowers, which would be later made into flower chains. One could find her laughing and getting soaked as she worked against the wind and picked flowers. She would have to do her drawing elsewhere, but for now, this was fun!

Finally, one could find Yotsuba dumping her creations and letters into the mailboxes of her friends. If one asked, they might receive a picture too, or a hug.

Once Lucifel placed her down, Yotsuba would rub her skinned knees which helped the pain a little bit, but it did get some of the blood on her hands. Not that she really minded right now.

"Oh..Diarmuid said that was how grown-ups and brave people acted and that I had to be like that. But Yotsuba will remember! So don't forget either, Luci, okay?!"

While her knees still hurt, the joy of knowing that it was fine to be sad sometimes, even if you were an adult or a support was making sure that a genuine smile stayed on her face.

Maybe get a clean cloth to wipe her knees and hands with or Yotsuba might get blood all over her clothes.

"I won't."

Lucifel smiled back at her, continuing to look for band-aids.

She probably wouldn't get it on her clothes..but the books in the library would probably appreciate not being stained with blood.

"Good! Yotsuba's little, but I can listen!"

Sometimes. After all, sometimes things did distract her. As Lucifel continued to search, Yotsuba mused to herself.

"I wonder if Dia's forgotten?"

Better be safe than sorry. Lucifel eventually found a clean cloth and wiped her hands clean, then her knees. And then he put the band-aids on them. With animals on them.

"I know, Yotsuba is a good listener when I tell her stories."

There, all patched up.

Yotsuba was old enough to wash up by herself, so having someone else wipe her hands was a little weird to her. Not that she minded. She smiled at the contact and at the animal band-aids. Oh, these were so cool!~ But Lucifel wanted to hear a story, and she had to keep being a good listener, so she rubbed her hands on the band-aids as she spoke to him, smiling.

"That because you tell me good stories, Luci!"

And with that, Yotsuba would hop down from the hospital bed and rush out of the infirmary, onto the stairs. She would then turn around and wave at Lucifel.

"C'mon, Luci, or I'll leave you behind!"

It's what you did with little kids, didn't you? Honestly, Lucifel didn't know any better in that regard, she would have to tell him.

"Do I?"

The archangel smiled and followed after her, feeling a little better for the moment.

She probably wouldn't, since she didn't really mind. After all, she was pretty weird by normal standards too. And it was good that Lucifel was feeling a bit better. After all, that was Yotsuba's goal. When he followed her, Yotsuba nodded and tried to hold his hand.

"You do! Your stories are awesome!"

He chuckled and let her hold his hand again once he caught up with her again. It weren't so much his stories, he just told the stories others wrote to her.

"You think so?"

That might have been the case..but a good storyteller made all the difference when a story was read out loud. As she spoke, Yotsuba started to walk up the steps to the library, holding Lucifel's hand as she did so. At least she couldn't trip here.

"Yeah! Your stories are super good, Luci!"

She could trip still but it wouldn't be as dangerous as falling down the stairs. But she wouldn't trip as long as he could use his powers. But yes, a good storyteller could make the difference from a horrible one.

"I'm flattered, Yotsuba."

However, she could still get injured, so going up wasn't as bad as coming down. At the unfamiliar word, Yotsuba looked up at Lucifel, puzzled.

"What's flattered?"

"It's how you feel when you get a compliment."

Lucifel wasn't sure how well of an explanation it was for her but it should work.

Thankfully, it would work quite well for Yotsuba, since flattered was a better way of describing the feeling of being complimented than super happy.

"Oh! Yotsuba knows that feeling! It's super nice!"

As they spoke, Yotsuba spotted the library and tried to wander in with Lucifel.

"We're here, Luci! Pick out any book you want, and I'll read to you!"

Then he did everything right. If she understood it properly then it was good.

"It is, isn't it?"

Lucifel wandered inside with her. Now, what book could he let her read to him? Maybe a Japanese fairytale. Momotaro, perhaps.

"It is!"

Yotsuba watched Lucifel as they walked in, wondering what wonderful gem he wanted to read. While Yotsuba didn't know the story of Momotaro, she wouldn't mind reading it for him if he picked it.

Momotaro it would be. Just because he didn't want to hear a story that wouldn't sound like it's related to them. Once he found it he handed her the book.

"This one looks good."

The only problem was the Yotsuba would happily point out any similarities to them that she saw in the story. However, when Lucifel handed her the book, she let go of his hand so that she could take it and look through it. Satisfied, she closed the book and smiled.

"Okay then! I'm gonna read you Momotaro, Luci!"

And with that, she would quickly run to the nearest table and chairs and wait for Lucifel to catch up.

"Come and sit!"

"Alight." Lucifel took a seat and waited for Yotsuba to start reading the story to him. Momotaro shouldn't have many similarities... or so he thinks.

As usual, Yotsuba climbed up Lucifel's leg so that she could sit in his lap before opening the book and beginning.

"Um..once upon a time, there lived an old man and woman on an island. The man was a farmer, so he always got his clothes dirty. the woman, there..therefort spend a lot of time washing his clothes in a river. One day, she found a huge white peach flo..floating down the river and brought it home."

While Yotsuba tripped over a few of the words, she did her best to continue as she turned the page and continued on with the story.

"The peach..looked very yummy, so the two tried to cut it open. When they did, a child came out of the peach! He said that he had been..brought from Heaven to be their son.

I wonder if he's an Angel, Luci?"

That's one way to read a story to someone else.

Lucifel would say nothing but let Yotsuba continue with the story, just nod. He had expected that there would be difficulties with words she didn't know.

"That's a good question."

Well, it wasn't like Lucifel could sit on Yotsuba's lap and see the book as she read. However, for the moment, Yotsuba's attention had diverted from the story.

"Do you know, Lucifel?"

The archangel tilted his head, thinking about her question for a moment.

"I haven't heard of an angel like that before."

"Oh..maybe he's an Angel in a different world! There are mul..multiple worlds, you know!"

And with that thought, Yotsuba moved on with the story.

"They named the child Momotaro and loved him very much and took care of him as best they could, and Momotaro turned out to be a very good boy. When he grew up, Momotaro heard that some demons were on Onigashima, and set out to beat them and protect people."

At this point in the story, Yotsuba smiled and stopped reading again.

"He's like you and Enoch, Luci! He's a good Angel!"

He had been about to say that he knows but decided to stay silent when she continued to read.

When she stopped again he looked back at her. And here he thought that there wasn't much of a chance that much connections could be found.

"Seems like it."

The only reason that Yotsuba could make those connections was because Enoch had told her about the Arch, demons, and angels.

"Yeah!"

And with that agreement, Yotsuba turned back to the story.

"His parents gave him some dumplings for the jo..journey, and they were very yummy. As he..traveled to the boat, Momotaro met a puppy, a birdie, and a monkey who agreed to help him in ex..exhange for food. A sailor gave them a boat and the four went to Onigashima.

When they found the house the demons were in, it was behind a large locked gate, but the bird flew up behind it and unlocked it so that they could get in. The demons were having a party, so Momotaro and his friends were able to rush in and fight them! Momotaro slashed at them with a sword, the birdie pecked them, the dog bit them, and the monkey scratched and bit them, sh..shriking.

Eventually, the demons gave up and promised Momotaro that they would go away and gave him a looot of gems. So Momotaro went home with his friends and was able to live happily with his family for the rest of his days.
