And the only solution was to stand and fight [Closed]
Characters: Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier
Setting: 2-10
Format: Prose
Summary: Erik goes to visit Charles to say 'I told you so'
Warnings: Probably not.
So Erik had been proven right. It wasn't something he found himself interested in gloating on, though. He had seen the way that people were attacking each other now, but due to his own constraints, he couldn't do a thing about it. The forced obedience the wish to follow the rules, it was still there, calling to him. Luckily for him, Erik hadn't seen things progress past that. Perhaps he was lucky; or perhaps it was his mental fortitude which had allowed it.
He didn't know. Erik only knew that the pit in his stomach, the sickening feeling that he had always felt as a child, just before Herr Docktor had called him into their 'special place', was back. Experimentation. Torture. Forced imprisonment. Erik had thought he was over this...but this place turned everything within him upside down.
Letting out a breath, he knocked on Charles's door, pausing for a moment before speaking.
"Charles, it's Erik. Let me in."

"Charles, it's Erik. Let me in."

"No, no it's not nothing, Erik. Thank you, I mean it." He'll squeeze his hand back, tired eyes gazing up at his friend. Lids close a little, flutter and stay closed for a few seconds before they open again. Charles is trying hard not to give into sleep.
"Rest, my friend. You need it."

Erik's sleep will most likely be less kind, less restful. But he is used to it. He can sleep with the helmet on, protecting Charles from those thoughts.
Seeing that Charles is nearly gone, he leans down, barely brushing his lips against the other's forehead, before pulling back, taking his hand with him.

Though he will succeed when Charles grip goes lax, finally settled into sleep. Breathing softer and steady, he's out like a light.
