002 Acts of Kindness

Characters: Darres & Anyone
Setting: Floor 3 (Library), 10 (Aquarium), 19 (Sec. Library)
Format: Either
Summary: Darres is going about some of his usual routines around the tower.
Warnings: None?

[Floor 3 (Library)]
[Darres was in here for the same reason he always came to this floor. The knight was in search for some decent, non-dark story books to read to Quark. The knight was even more protective of the child than he use to be. Having the kid die in his arms, anyone would become more caring of another. While death was not permanent here, it still pang him that he wasn't able to prevent it. The best he could do was try to keep the kid from slipping into the darkness that the tower taunted its residents with. This round, Darres was in search of particularly happy stories he could read to Quark. He could be found around the library collecting books.]

[Floor 10 (Aquarium)]
[The aquarium was more therapeutic for the knight than anything. He was continually rattled as his stay here grew longer. Back home he wasn't quite so useless as he was finding himself to be here. He wanted to save those who wanted it. Darres wants to help those who couldn't help themselves, but he was finding it to be rather difficult with how he was thwarted.

The knight was peacefully stationed in part of the aquarium where the fish roamed freely. Jumping from tank to tank and going about their business as if he wasn't here. There was a certain beauty to them that he found to be soothing. It was a nice break from the chaos that constantly plagued the tower. He himself was almost at peace?]

[Floor 19 (Second Library)]
[Darres decided it was time he really buckled down and hit the books to better his knowledge of things outside of his world. He wasn't sure how long he was going to be away from it, and as far as he was concerned, knowledge was a useful tool in various situations. The knight was diligently digging through the science portion of the library trying to better himself in the science field. From what he's gathered, the tower was full of this theme.]

[ At some point during the excursion of book learning, Ishtar appeared and let's say she was quick to help Darres out doing what he was doing. She didn't mind it, and after all the events of the past two or so weeks, she wanted to spend more time with him. They were rather distant since he got here and it was mostly because Ishtar kept herself in a small bubble and pushed people away.

She didn't want to do that but at that time she was still worried about people leaving, and abandoning her. She didn't like being alone and she couldn't bear being on her own. She struggled too much and if she lost Darres too, she'd be done. She'd stop caring, stop giving a fuck. Everything would have been numb. Instead, she pushed those feelings aside for the ime being and helping Darres gather books. ]

[Sephiroth is in the Library for one of the more usual activities as well. The tall silver haired man is sat at one of the terminals, sat back on the chair and scrolling through the days new network posts. The lighting from the screen, and the lighting of the library itself gleams off his pauldrons.

He won't post anything, in fact hardly ever does unless he's in a particularly tolerable mood. A lot of the drabble that other residents post up bores him almost to tears but the network is always worth a check in case.

At a noise behind him he sits forward and turns to look back over his shoulder at Darres picking a book up off a nearby shelf. He frowns momentarily but then it vanishes, though he doesn't take his eyes off the other man he recognizes him from that day up at his Dormitory. With Ishtar.]

[He isn't sure why he's in here, actually. Not to say he isn't actually kind of... glad he found himself in this incredibly fascinating place. His eyes scan the right side of the room with an incredibly fascinated expression. After a couple of minutes, he begins walking further in.

Oh! ... Did that fish just jump from one aquarium to the next...?

The black-haired Deadman had let out a slightly surprised sound at that, considering it literally happened right in front of his face. Seriously, some water even splashed on his forehead.
]

Wh-what the...?

[Luke was actually there just to look around. The redhead was in desperate need of things to keep his mind busy, and what better way that to find a (hopefully attention-grabbing) book to read. Luke didn't actually mind reading. It was just very difficult for a book to actually hold his attention for more than ten minutes, at a time. At that point, though, he was willing to try anything.

One of the books actually land Luke, however, nose-deep into it. So much so, that he was suddenly not paying any attention to where he was going.

Which was why he ran into the poor, unsuspecting individual.

[Ganta quickly glanced to the person he quickly realized he'd never seen, before. He blinked at the word, though. Carnivorous? ... Right, look at where they are. Why wouldn't they house flesh-eating fish?]

Uh... right. [He was moving just a bit closer to the stranger, hands in pockets with a forced calm expression. Ganta removed a hand to scratch the back of his head.]

I'm Ganta, by the way.

[He watched the fish, quietly, after that. It was always nice to have a moment in a relatively calm setting.]

[Luke blinked as it had felt almost similar to bumping into a pole. Taking a couple of steps back, he blinked at the guy apologizing.]

Huh? I was the one that bumped into you, though...

Shouldn't I be the one apologizing?
woodpeckermaruta: (please stfu I'm tryin' to read)

[He turned toward the stranger, giving him a smile and nod.]

It's nice to meet you, too, Darres.

[He turned and leaned to look at an aquarium that currently houses a ton of small fish.]

How long... have you been here?

[ Urotsuki hangs around a lot on the aquarium floor and other floors near it. So she's today there too, even if there's some other guy - but she doesn't seem to pay attention to him. She's walking around as if he isn't even there, walking right up to the water and the fish...

... but then she suddenly turns into rainbow colors out of nowhere. Welp. ]

[He nodded to the question.]

I've been here a little over a month, ...I think... [He was losing track of time, which was not actually something he was unfamiliar with. He had trouble keeping up with time, back "home".]

[It's perfectly normal to feel like you're imposing. This is the default vibe Sephiroth generally gives off when around those he hardly knows. Strangers, especially strangers behind you could mean anything, after all. No, not paranoid much. Cautious. Even if Sephiroth is confident he could defend himself against every other resident.]

Hmph. Not at all. [He speaks over an armored shoulder.]

[Apparently satisfied, at least for the immediate moments that Darres is not a threat, Sephiroth turns more in the seat to look over the other man. Or rather what the other man is doing.]

Light reading?
desireforchange: (Embarrassed/Shy; ah ha ha...;;;)

[He furrowed his brow giving the stranger a look of disbelief. Was the guy for real? ... Luke then shifts a little uncomfortably. The guy reminded him a bit of Ion, actually. Luke hadn't seen Ion, yet; and, frankly wasn't actually sure if he was ready to. Asch was bad enough, and Ion had actually been one of Luke's closer friends. They were both replicas, too, so they had some sort of bond. The redhead scratched the back of his head before turning to look at the tables.]

Ah... yeah. I was planning on it, actually. [He glanced back at the stranger, then he eyes landed on the books. Machines and electricity? That seemed like something guy would like... His eyes lingered on the books for a bit, before he looked away. Even though he'd never wish for Guy to be in a place like this, he still misses him. Luke sighed and realized he had just been standing there, looking sad. He offered a nervous smile and firmly scratched the side of his head.]

... Sorry about that.

[ Ishtar continued to pull a book here and a book there because it was easier to read about stuff she didn't know about. She was carefree, but a lot of things changed that. She still had her carefree nature. It was a lot more controlled however, and less troublesome. She pulled another book and then turned towards his reading self and smiles. ]

Yeah, it's fine Darres.

[ She smiled. She carried the stack of book over to him and plops right next to him. ]
desireforchange: (Serious; you know you're wrong right?)

[personal profile] desireforchange 2013-09-12 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Luke smiled at the second sentence.] Well, I actually came here to learn something...

[He already did like to read some things that taught him more than just sword fighting or Artes (not that they have anything on that last one, that he knew of). As long as they weren't super incredibly boring, that is.

Thinking he was about to die any second, though, had him wanting to do things differently. He wanted to learn everything he could, tell people things
]

So, ...what are those books about, exactly? [Machines, he knew. What was electricity, though?]
