Needing space

Characters: Capell and open
Setting: Floor 31 (cobblestone outdoor area)
Format: Either
Summary: Being stuck in a room for a week has taken it's toll, Capell needs to be outside, and music happens
Warnings:

Capell held the pieces of cloth for a moment when he found them in his trunk, Fayina's voice rang in his ears, one of her final requests from him. He wondered what she had wanted them for, he had almost forgotten about it with all that had happened but now he realised he would never find out.

He put the cloth back in his trunk and stood up. The last week had taken it's toll and despite his bath the confinement still clung to his skin. He left his room and made his way down the stairs, it was strange that this place had been almost destroyed by the explosions and now there was only dust to remind them.

It was a long way down but he finally stopped on the cobblestone roof, moving to the edge to sit cross legged and look out at the barron world he had found himself in.

He had been here a month already and it was difficult to believe. He missed his friends, even if he had met people here and the last week had been strange. Ghosts and frightened silence, screams from nearby cut out, leaving their fates to the imagination.

He raised his flute to his lips almost unconsciously and began to play, his first song was a sad one, a song of sorrow for lost friends.

It drifted into the emptiness of the air around him.

Hm? [He got a little wrapped up there.] Ah, thank you. So are you. What sort of song was that?

Hmm. I see. Who are you trying to remember? [For a moment, the Galdrs of Release and of Rebirth floated into Sephiran's mind. They might sound nice on the flute.]

Understandable. I have seen my friends in various places around the tower, but they were only illusions. First they appeared during the strange events last February, and then they came again as shadow children.

February was very strange indeed. First, visitors from somewhere else appeared in the tower. Then, Ruana held her customary deadly games. Thankfully, I was not chosen for them. Following that was a period when people began to hear strange voices and see things... and then the visitors were gone without a trace.

[He hasn't mentioned what happened to Dax yet, but he might eventually.]

I can't say I know. They came from another world; that is all I can say for certain. How they got here is a mystery, but Ruana was able to forcefully remove them after... an incident. [It's a really unpleasant memory, if only just for how nasty the images are.]

Presumably, they were sent back to wherever they came from, even if that place was a dead world. I'm afraid that I missed out on most of the details aside from one very unpleasant one. Have you ever heard of an administrator named Dax?

It truly is. If they all came from the same place, however, perhaps they could do something...

No. The child is Zo. He's a good child, he really is... Dax was an administrator in this tower as well. At the end of the visitor's stay... Ruana killed and ate him. We got to see it all over the terminals. [Sephiran winces a bit. It really was grisly.]

I know it's difficult to take in. But Dax was indeed eaten, and we all got to see it. No one who saw it has forgotten Dax's death... at least, I presume no one has forgotten.

Indeed. Ruana is bizarre and cruel beyond reason at times. [Well, really, what notable exceptions are there?] Her "games" are almost always deadly.

Indeed I have. People were turned into monsters during the night, and the "game" was to figure out who they were and kill them. I experienced my first death during this game.
