☠ 007 | here is no water but only rock
Characters: Avenger and OPEN to all.
Setting: Wildcard wanderings, the thirteenth floor, the seventy-seventh floor, the seventy-fourth floor and the hundred-and-one floor.
Format: Preference for action spam.
Summary: Aftermath regarding the regains from last month's event along with an open log for this month.
Warnings: lol Angra Mainyu (also nudity in one of the prompts)
[ SCENARIO A || FLOOR 13: CATHEDRAL ]
[ In the church, there's the usual silence—solitary and deepened by the evening's dimness—dust particles drifting in dim shafts of light.
And there's also a boy whose modesty is only preserved by his red mantle, seated on a front pew right near the altar with one tattooed leg crossed over the other leg, head tilted back to gaze up at the vaulted, airy ceiling and the faint murmuring of some invisible mass. He's quite obviously not here out of any reverence for religion. Avenger is quiet and his dark eyes are mildly discontented.
But what's actually strange about the scene is this; the Servant had a long, red cloth in his hands, the ends trailing carelessly down onto the floor. To whose with the capability to sense such things, there's a lingering touch of divinity in the fabric: a sigh that the useless shroud had once been holy, but was no more.
Avenger himself wasn't too sure what to... do with it. ??? ]
[ SCENARIO B || FLOOR 77: SAUNA (mixed entrance) ]
[ It's several days after the crowds have drained out of the bathhouse that. It's not so much Avenger gives a fuck about his personal hygiene and the fact he's starting to smell as it's that occasionally his desires are very simple ones, and today they happen to include a long hot bath.
He backs up, naked amidst the clouds of steam, before taking a running leap and doing a cannonball into the hot pool with a gleeful shout.
The sauna is nearly empty today so luckily there's nobody for him to inconsiderately splash in the face with a wave of hot water. ]
[ SCENARIO C || FLOOR 74: CAVERN ]
[ After several days of forced abstinence from murder, Angra was feeling itchy for it again, needing something to sate his bloodlust. And hunting down the less powerful of the Tower-generated creatures was a superficial escape from boredom.
Therefore, one can find him fighting monsters and indulging in a bit of violence in the cavernous darkness of this floor.
There are one or two already-dead creatures nearby. He is, as the casual observer can notice, very untidy about his kills and delighted in mutilating them, always leaving a bloody mess behind him. ]
[ SCENARIO D || ANYWHERE IN THE TOWER: YOUR PICK]
[ Generally, Angra wanders through an assortment of floors at night (or during the day) and shows little concern for which ones he ends up on as long as they are neither overly threatening or extreme. It's entirely possible to cross paths with him at some point.
Though, that begs the question of why on earth are you choosing to strike up conversation anyway? ]

For what?
[ He asks, fairly certain he could take a guess at what Kirei, missing years and in a post-apocalypic place like the Tower, would pray to god for. The man wasn't anywhere near as predictable as the hero of justice, but he wasn't on the difficult end of that scale of predictability either. ]
This? [ He holds up the red cloth. ]
Ah, I'd have thought you would recognize it right away, given your line of business. It's one of your Church's Holy Shrouds. [ A pause. ] Seems like all the holiness has gone outta' it however.
no subject
[ Because he knows that is not possible.
He focuses his attention on the cloth, even daring to touch it when Avenger holds it out. ]
I thought it might be -- but why do you have it?
no subject
Why? I say the people in charge here think it's amusing. They tend to give their lab rats stuff like this after the monthly upheaval is over with, probably cuz' it makes them angry. [ He doesn't sound that angry personally however. ]
It's from my timeline. [ Which, as Kirei already knows, is presumed as destroyed as every other timeline and world. The Servant sighs. ]
Me and the owner knew one another, though we didn't care much for each others' existence.
no subject
Who did you know of, who worked with the Holy Church?
[ The implication is curious to him. Where did Avenger come from? ]
no subject
Girl by the name of Caren Hortensia. Ring any bells?
[ He looks at Kirei expectantly. ]
no subject
He has not seen his daughter since he surrendered her to her mother's side of the family. It would only make sense that she too followed the path of the church and now... now the Holy Grail War as well?
And, of all things, Avenger is familiar with her. ]
How do you know her?
no subject
She came to Fuyuki City on one of those Church missions.
[ And since she'd been uninvolved in the Fifth War, she could interfere with the closed garden he'd constructed by inserting herself in the place of her now-absent (dead) predecessor. Which he hadn't anticipated, but still she'd nursed Bazett back to health so he wasn't angry with her over that. His answer isn't terribly informative; ]
We got to talking a few times. [ . . . Even though he wasn't fully certain of why he'd kept bothering to go to those meetings in the ruined church with her after what information she offered had run dry. ]
no subject
[ It is, perhaps, a stretch, but he cannot fathom why Avenger would be in this place, exactly.
After a moment, he settles himself down next to Avenger, kneeling like a prayer. ]
What did you speak to her about?
no subject
. . . Ah, whatever. ]
Yeah. That's it. S'not like I'd have any other use for it myself.
[ Then Kirei settled down next to him, meaning he didn't have to look up at his face anymore. But really now, that position looked plain uncomfortable on the muscles from his point of view. The base of Avenger's mouth twists with sarcasm. ]
It was all pretty much pointless stuff. Hmm, personal history, exorcisms—, duties and yada yada. I think she found me awfully rude and unpleasant. What, do you want details?
no subject
No. That is enough.
[ He has no deep curiosity concerning what became of that girl; he has removed himself from her life. ]
For a moment, I wondered if she may have been your Master.
no subject
Right. It's not like he feels a sentiment about your daughter or anything, Kotomine Kirei.Avenger almost yelps, for the first time looking both amused and startled. ]No way! Sometimes a Servant and a human can talk regularly without that, alright.
[ He crosses his arms over his chest, still holding onto the now-slightly crumpled shroud. ]
She'd probably try to bully me even more than she already bullies the Servants she has. It'd be a nightmare. Somebody else held my contract.
that's kawaii senpai
It is the same Master who holds you in this place?
[ Kirei feels uncertain when he asks, but he is curious. ]
n-no it's not kouhai
Nope. This one's plenty lively at the moment.
That one's dead as a doornail and therefore, entirely useless.
[ Unless one day the Tower feels kindly enough to scoop Bazett up and drag her here to enjoy its hospitality. Avenger had no expectations of this happening however. ]
no subject
The dismissive tone catches Kirei's attention, briefly. Avenger would not be the type to mourn his Master, would he? ]
I've been told that death means little in this place.
no subject
In this place, that's correct. Not outside of it. I came here alone. [ Avenger shrugs. No skin off his nose! ]
no subject
[ He eyes the cloth, curious again. ]
Do you intend to keep it, even if it has lost its magic?
no subject
Hmm, well. I guess I can just stuff it in with the rest of the trash in my trunk. Won't really make a difference, right?
[ Or he could throw it into the furnace on one of the floors. Much faster that way.
Hmm, what a tough dilemma. Decisions, decisions! ]
no subject
[ Kirei inclines his head forward, just slightly. ]
Is something on your mind?
no subject
[ He bundles the strip of red cloth up into a messy clump again and places it to the side for the moment, the side where Kirei isn't sitting. ]
Fire would do the trick, but it's unnecessary in this case. [ Kirei sits stiffly as if he is at prayer, but Avenger slings one arm over the back of the pew they're seated on, posture relaxing. ]
Nope. Nothing specific.
is that a really vague yawn-and-stretch there senpai....
Did you dislike her so much?
[ It's a small thing, but he smiles a little at the thought. ]
It may not be so easy to be rid of that cloth. If what I hear of our keepers is accurate, when they intended for you to have that, it will continue to haunt you.
yes. super vague...
[ He then repeats himself, and sharpens the word "dislike" while the rest of it comes out flat: ] Mm, dislike? We didn't care for each other's existence that much. I don't want burn it because it's hers. I'd just like to get rid of it.
Fire would take no effort.
[ A little more contemptuously: ]
They need better haunting material.
