Summary: Zett gathers and eats mushrooms for science. He's also willing to share.
Warnings: Hallucinogenic drugs!

[Floor 61]
["Many mushrooms grow on this floor. It is unknown if they are edible or not."

That was what the guide to the tower said, and Zett was just bored enough to decide to make a helpful contribution. Perhaps they would kill him unpleasantly, but his death would help people in the future to not die. Perhaps they would be incredibly tasty and a good source of food during Jason months. It was hard to tell, with the tower.

Careful to avoid all the pits on this floor, Zett gathers up as many mushrooms as he can. Just one wouldn't be enough to know for sure how dangerous these mushrooms were - if the first one didn't kill him, he'd have to test another.

Zett isn't actually going to eat on this floor (too dangerous with the pits around), so other residents will just encounter him picking mushrooms and gathering them in a box.]

[Dormitory Floors]
[When Zett gets back to the dorm floors, it's finally time to test the mushrooms for deadliness. Setting the box on the ground, Zett picks up one mushroom and munches on it.

It's delicious. Zett finishes it quickly and waits for any side effects.

Gradually he notices that his vision is going a little... weird. Colors are changing. The doors are starting to morph into shapes that clearly wouldn't fit a person through them, unless they were a very strangely formed person. He feels kind of... melty.

Huh.

Zett picks up his box of mushrooms and walks around the dormitories, occasionally stumbling as the ground doesn't feel right. When he spots other people, he'll smile and wave and tell them something like,] Did you know you're leaving a trail of light behind you? [After a moment, he'll add.] That could be the mushrooms, though.

"You're not meant to eat mushrooms if you don't know what they do Zett!" He shook his head and looked in the box before picking out a mushroom. "Is it like Gamzee's slime?"

Popping the mushroom in his mouth, since they know what they do now so his mums rule doesn't count!

"But then how would anybody figure out what they do? Somebody's gotta try it."

Zett shrugs, sitting down on the floor and making no attempt to stop Romeo from eating a mushroom. "I've never had his slime."

"I guess so! It's like an adventure!" He giggled, it was a lot like Gamzee's slime. "It's funny, when you eat it everything is bright and silly. It makes Gamzee really happy though." So therefore there was nothing at all wrong with it.

"Maybe if I ask nicely I'll get to try it someday. Probably I won't, though, this is for science."

Science and science only, of course.

[myblueskies]

"What kind of science?" Romeo hugged his knees and watched the lights sparkling off the wall. "Will it help us fix everything?"

"No, I don't think so. But it's important to know as much about the tower as we can."

Romeo looks like he's glowing now, it's pretty~. Zett giggles at nothing in particular.

"That is important." Giggling was infectious though and soon Romeo was laughing for no reason at all. "The lights are pretty."

"Aren't they?" Zett scoots close enough to lean against Romeo's shoulder. "Don't get mad at me later for this."

[myblueskies]

"I won't get mad." He leans back, giggling as light swirls around them both. "You're one of my bestest friends, I won't be mad at you ever!"

"And you're one of my best friends, so I wouldn't intentionally get you in trouble."

Key word being 'intentionally'.

[myblueskies]

Romeo giggled and went to nudge Zett's shoulder, but bashed heads with him instead, making him laugh harder. "Sorry Zett! I'm glad you're my friend!"

Zett rubbed his head. "I'm glad too. You make me such a bad demon."

[myblueskies]

His smile faded and he blinked watching the colours swirling around Zett, "I make you bad?"

[scentofmakai]

"Yeah. Demons ought to be scary and strong on their own. With you, I just want to keep you safe and play with you all day," Zett admitted, looking away towards the ceiling.

Romeo thought about that, "I like it when you play with me..." He watched the light bouncing off Zett's nose, "Will you get in trouble with your bosses for not being scary?"

He thought Zett was plenty strong already.

"Not when they're not here."

Maybe one would arrive, but Zett doubted that. He missed having Lucifer around, even though this one didn't know him well.

[myblueskies]

"Well I'm glad they aren't here." He smiled, "I would be sad if they got mad at you for playing with me."

"I would be sad too. But I do miss having people from home around," Zett admitted.

Romeo wrapped his arms around Zett's side, "I didn't mean to be happy you were lonely. None of my friends from home ever came here either."

[scentofmakai]

"Do you miss them a lot?" Zett asked, leaning against Romeo. "I'm sure they're good friends."

[myblueskies]

Romeo bumped against him, "I do, they were really really good friends. Especially Alfredo but he died a long time ago." He brought his hand up to trace the light patterns in the air.

[scentofmakai]

"Maybe your friends will come sometime."

Even Alfredo could, but Zett didn't want to get his hopes up that much.

[myblueskies]

Romeo shook his head, he had thought about this a lot in the long time he had been here. "I don't want them to. If their worlds are dead and they are dead they will be in heaven, and if their worlds are okay then they will be together or with their families, and both is better than here."

[scentofmakai]

"Alright. Then I'll just wish for mine, since they won't be in heaven."

It'd be a mean thing to say if his friends weren't part demon and if God wasn't totally crazy.

[myblueskies]

Luckily Romeo understands, even though he is still sad about the fact that demons don't get to go to heaven. "I'll wish really hard too, Zett!"
