the flight of icarus
Characters: Terra-Xehanort (
terra_nullius) and anyone who wishes to see what he's up to
Setting: Assorted floors, but primarily floor 91
Format: Action to start, will do prose if you desire
Summary: Derpface is bored and wants to try something particularly foolish, so he prepares for death.
Warnings: None that I can think of, will update.
Floor 15
[His first stop for the day is the workshop, where he takes a bit of time selecting some hard wood and cutting it carefully into long strips. He finds some hinges, and screws them into place, and adds some other attachments to the things to create what looks like two large, open-ended frames of some sort that can pop open to lock into place. Satisfied with the clumsy construction, he slings them over his shoulder and departs.]
Floor 51
[How amusing. Floor 51 is his next destination, after floor 15... fitting. He opens up his frame and spreads it out, before selecting a swatch of random fabric. He begins to clumsily sew the fabric onto the frame, giving it the appearance of half of a large kite. It's quite large, so it does take a long time, and he mutters and yelps as he pricks his finger numerous times. The second half he switches to a red fabric to avoid the visible dots of red that become more numerous on the first one. Not that it'll matter in the end, he muses.
When the second frame is finally finished, he takes off his shirt and lays it out, with the frames on either side. Then he begins to sew the things on to his shirt. When that is finished, he does the same with his pants. This takes much longer, as the cold temperatures leave him shivering and his fingers not cooperating quite as well.
When he's finally finished he puts on his clothes awkwardly, snapping the frames closed so that they're not up and making him look bigger than he actually is. It's not perfect, but it'll work well enough for what he wants to try. With the frames open, they look almost like patagia, extending from his arms out to his feet. Like some sort of humanoid flying squirrel. With that step complete, he departs as well.]
Floor 91
[With a rough ability to glide and control his descent somewhat, he now comes to the highest point he can tell opens to the outside of the world of the Tower. Staring out over the abyss, all he can see is the cloud layer. What lies beneath that? Is there a vista to behold? Is there nothing but ravaged land? There's no real answer forthcoming. The only way to find out fur certain is to jump.
He walks all the way back to the staircase, preparing for a final run to give himself momentum for when he jumps off the edge.]

[And an actual smile. There's not really many people who make him feel just plain happy in the tower, but somehow Yotsuba does.]
I don't think I'd have to fight anyone, but I don't know what will happen. And at the end I'll probably die anyway.
no subject
But why will you die if you won't hafta fight?! Dying is super painful and scary, so where are you gonna fly where you'll die?! If you're not fighting, you'll just hafta not crash! You can do it!

I'm not trying to beat anyone. I want to learn more about this place. Since no one wants to talk about it, I have to do things to learn more myself. That may mean doing things that are dangerous, but it's okay. If it means that I can learn something, it isn't that bad.
[He puts aside the materials he's been working with and picks up a pair of scissors and some other fabric, clipping away without really thinking. There's something on his mind, coming from the void of his memories, something he doesn't understand but feels important... clip clip clip, as the fabric falls away a star shape begins to appear. Gathering the scraps he starts to sew the star shape, using the left-overs as stuffing.]

But a lot of people wanna talk about it, like Enoch and Luci and Dia..and it's a little bad! If you die, I'll get super sad and worried, because you'll really hurt! Death's super painful, you know! It's not good! And a lot of other people you like will be worried too! I don't want you to die. And what if you don't come back? And..what are you making?! It looks pretty..

I'm making you a present. It's my promise that I'll come back safe and sound and you won't have to worry. As long as you have this, it's like we'll always be together.
[He doesn't really understand it, but it feels right. His heart is beating faster. Is this some kind of memory?]
no subject
But I don't want you to go at all if you'll die! Can you promise that you won't try to crash?! Because if you will, I'll worry! And so will your other friends and your Daddy! I'll like that promise, 'cause then you won't try to die!

[There. With the edge mostly crimped he pushes the frame inside out, and begins stuffing it.]

I dunno what doubt is..but I'm sure a whoole lot of people would worry! And you don't hafta die. You can learn things without dying! Flying's super fun, but dying really hurts! It's not good!

Oh, my dear child, those people are all already dead. Unless you don't believe the message that was left for us...
no subject
I dunno what message, but Daddy's soul is still alive! It's enchanted, but it's here! And so is Jumbo's and everyone else's! Their bodies are really weird and super gross and bad, but the grown-ups are gonna fix them! So your Daddy's alive too, even if you shouldn't see him right now! He'll say bad things and kill you because he's enchanted!

[It's kind of funny, that the only person who actually told him to stop what he's doing has been a child. The innocence of youth. It's a shame she had to come to a place like this.]
... and that's why I'm going to make the best of a bad situation and learn what I can, in whatever way possible.
