Setting: Room 1-02 and meadow

Summary: Romeo returns from his dead world, and discovers a gift in his mailbox
Warnings: Nothing I wouldn't think

[Room 2-02] Every time Romeo went back to his world he was scary that he would nver return. The Tower was a very scary place but at least he had friends there, he could help them and they could fight the administrators together. To either restore their worlds or go to heaven together.

But here there was just emptiness and dead bodies. Just Romeo alone and it was very hard to keep his spirits up. So he was very relieved when he opened his eyes to see the bedroom that had been his for a long time now. "Hi Pinocchio!" He giggled as the weasel snuffed at his neck.

He looked around and saw a book with a note on the end of his bed. He opened the note and grinned, it was from Zo! Romeo had wondered if he had gotten his present!

You remember that? I wish you could've talked back! I really liked the story; I made another copy of it for you!

Romeo's mouth dropped open and he opened the book. It was beautiful! All the pictures he and Zett had made but better, and they moved! Even the story was better and the words written properly.

"Zett!" He didn't know if his friend was in hearing distance, "Come look!"

The meadow] Romeo took the book to the meadow. It was cold now so he had his hat that he had gotten a while ago as a reward, and the scarf that miss Tohko had made for him. Bundled up in those he sat and read the book happily, pointing things out to Pinocchio.

"I train a lot, you could train with me, and now we will have lots to do with the book, we got a lot to find out about everyone!"

"I guess that will occupy us for a while. I don't have to worry about boring days until that's over."

[myblueskies]

"Yep, it definitely won't be boring." He grinned, "We will get to learn about all the heroes!"

"How many of them do you think are in the tower?"

No more than all the residents plus Zo. But Zett wasn't sure of how much that was.

[myblueskies]

"More than a hundred... I don't know. I'd have to count all the names." He smiles, "But we got to do the heroes that aren't here anymore as well, so no one forgets them."

"If they aren't here, how will we know how to draw them?"

The graves didn't have pictures, for one thing.

[myblueskies]

"I knew a lot of people, I can describe them." He thought, "For the others if people know what they looked like they can describe them, or we could draw things that they liked."

"...You've been here too long."

A lot longer than Zett, and he considered his stay as long enough to change him for the worse and for the better.

"It's been a really long time." He nodded, "But I've met some really nice friends that I would have never ever met otherwise. Like you!"

"Does that make up for it?" Zett asked. "Knowing us versus being in the tower."

[myblueskies]

"I don't know." Romeo thought about that for a long time. "It's not a good thing that my world ended, just like it wasn't a good thing that my dad got sick. But when I went to Milano I met Alfredo, and though things were bad and scary I wouldn't change it ever because knowing him is..." He thought again.

"It's like even though he is in heaven now, we were friends and that's a big huge thing inside me. Like hope or happiness. And this is like that, I wish my world hadn't ended and that bad things hadn't happened. But they did and I can't imagine not meeting you or Ken, or Molly or Ienzo or Yotsuba.

I think we learn from people we meet, so in all the worlds out there there might be another world with another Romeo, and he never came here and different things happened to him. I think he is very different, and it is good that he never had to come here or be turned into creatures or get hurt at all. So I am happy there is probably a Romeo like that but I'm glad I'm this Romeo. Even with all the bad things, because I couldn't imagine not knowing all the friends I have made here."

Sometimes Zett forgot how mature Romeo really was. More than he should have to be at his age.

He didn't say anything, just came closer and leaned on Romeo's shoulder for a moment.

Romeo just put his arms around him and squeezed him tight.

[scentofmakai]

"You're more grown up than anybody gives you credit for," Zett murmured. "Even me, half the time."

[myblueskies]

"Well I am thirteen." Romeo shrugged against him, "That's a grown up age."

[scentofmakai]

"In some places. Some places it's still not. But I think you have enough experience to be more grown up than even older people."

[myblueskies]

"Yes people said that you don't get to be growed up until you are twenty in some places!" He was glad Italy wasn't like that. He wouldn't want to wait that long.

[scentofmakai]

"When you're twenty you'll probably already be rich and everyone will like you."

[myblueskies]

"If I was rich then I could help lots of people." He grinned, "I could make lots of schools, or get lots of doctors for kids who can't afford them or..." There was a lot of things Romeo would do back on his world if he were rich.

"I bet you'll actually be doing that when you're that old."

If he got that old, he certainly would be back on his world by then.

[myblueskies]

"I got old once." Romeo told him, "Well I got to almost twenty... but it wasn't real it was just pretend memories..." He still remembered though, how it felt to be older.

[scentofmakai]

"Oh, I remember that. Can't remember if I was hundreds of years older or more than that."

It's hard to tell with demons.

[myblueskies]

"Hundreds!" Romeo's eyes widened, "It was scary with just ten more years!" He couldn't imagine believing to have been in the tower for hundreds of years.

[scentofmakai]

"Demons are longer-lived than humans. I know my king went crazy for being there for even longer."

Lucifer crazy was an unpleasant sight.

"Lots of people were really mad and crazy and sad." It hadn't been a nice time.
