[If she were anyone else, Axel would call her out on her terrible lying right away. But she's not "anyone else." She's Xion. One of his two best friends. And, for a guy who only has two friends — not just in this Tower, but in his life — that's saying everything.

[So he doesn't call out the obvious lie. Nor does he ask about the pain and what looks like genuine fear in her eyes. Instead:]

'Course you will. You're always fine. Even when you're almost falling off clock towers, you're fine.

[The words are casual, but the affection beneath them isn't something he can hide, even if he saw fit to try. But that earlier concern hasn't left his expression. And Xion's not going to get off with just that answer.]

So, let me put that another way. What's going on?

[That's a bit of an easier question to answer. At least a safer one. She still isn't quite meeting his eyes though.]

We might be facing Jason. I... I don't remember how much I told you about him.

[She'd told him a lot when he and Roxas had first arrived, and she knows she'd mentioned Jason, but the specifics of what she'd said eluded her. Plus he might've learned some things since...]

He's really bad though.

[Understatement of the year, everyone]

[Although Axel's learned quite a bit about this place on his own, the details about those running it — including details about Jason — hasn't been his primary focus.]

What kinda "really bad" are we talking?

[He's watching her closely, even if she's not meeting his eyes. If she does look at him, though, it'll probably be pretty difficult to avoid his gaze.]

He experiments on people for the fun of it, during his months. He treats us like rats.

[She all but spits out the word, like it leaves an utterly awful taste in her mouth. And it does, it's a reminder of what he said to her then. Of fighting him. Of him on the network afterwards.

She's silent for several moments before speaking again.]

I've faced him before.

[Her tone all but screams that it didn't end well.]

[It's news to Axel. This is the redhead's first month of being in the Tower while Jason is in charge. So far, the only difference he's noticed is the menu.

[It's impossible to miss Xion's tone, though.]

I take it that didn't go too well.

[He really has no idea exactly how bad it could be.]

I know what to expect now though. If he comes up here.

[And it sounds like he will. It has to turn out differently, if so. It has to.]
