Summary: A hunting they will go because the kitchen could use more meat. Just ignore the pink snow.
Warnings: Possible mentions of blood and of course slaughtering animals


They were set. The area around the staircase was filled with equipment and supplies for a day of hunting. There was food and drink in case they got hungry, makeshift weapons, bags, extra warm cloaks and even a really crude cart to haul things around on sat nearby. The cart was rough and wooden, and only had one set of wheels, but Reno found it sort of handy instead of hauling carcasses up the staircase.

Now all they had to do was go out into the floor and start tracking.

[Diarmuid looks at the tusk for a moment longer and then shakes his head.]

Perhaps, I will give it to Waver. I am sure he will think of a good use for it.

Good idea. Make it a wedding present?

[Diarmuid's eyes get wide and he suddenly turns red. He sputters for a moment before reaching out to lightly punch his brother in the arm.]

T-there has to be a wedding for that! And there isn't going to be a wedding!

[puppy_lancer]

[He laughs and rubs his arm.]

Then it's even more important to give him something to celebrate the fact that you're married now, right?

We don't need something to celebrate the bond between us. It's just there. That is what is important.

[Absently, Diarmuid rubs the top of his hand, thinking of the command spells that are usually on Waver's hand.]

I will be glad when we can reform our contract, though.

[puppy_lancer]

[Lancer looks puzzled.]

You haven't re-formed it yet? I thought you guys got back together right after what Ganondorf did.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

No powers, remember? We can't reform the contract until my powers return fully. Thankfully, that should be pretty soon.

[puppy_lancer]

[He nods.]

Then, what about the disappearances? Would they affect your Contract in some way?

[He's done with peeling the skin off of the boar's back, so he gets to work slicing the meat apart.]

[Diarmuid pauses in his work, frowning.]

I...don't think so? I hope not anyway. Our powers aren't affected when we disappear, fortunately. And, to be honest, I am kind of hoping this thing will have run its course by then. I will have to ask Waver about it and see what he thinks.

[puppy_lancer]

I hope so soon, Brother.

[He sets down his work to pat Diarmuid on the shoulder, like he can keep his brother from disappearing that way.]

[Diarmuid puts his hand over the one his brother has on his shoulder.]

I'm sorry I scared you. I should have said something, but my disappearances had been so few before then. I was not expecting that to happen. I am glad no one was hurt.

[puppy_lancer]

I'm glad too. Especially since you came out of it unharmed. Didn't you have a geas that said not to hunt boars?

[oathshackledbird]

Not specifically. Fionn and Father agreed on that 'story' just keep me away from boars, since the one was suppose to kill me and I it. It's not really a lie, but not really the truth either. As long as I didn't hunt boar, that one couldn't find me. The geis was really more specific than all boars, but why take the chance?

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

I can't say I am surprised that fact ended up getting woven into my story as an actual geis, though. Stories get changed like that all the time.

[He lets out a sigh of relief.]

Good. Nothing good comes out of breaking a geas, so I'm glad you didn't really break one.

Believe me brother, the last thing I want to do is break one either. I would have acted in a different way if that had been the case.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

The last thing any of us need around here is more bad luck.

Especially not with Ruana's "game" waiting to happen. Just hope we'll all be staying out of it this month.

I hope so as well, but this is Ruana... There is just no way to know.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Especially as we continue to fight harder against them. I expect things will get much worse before there is even a glimmer of them getting better.

You're right about that. But we've got Pandora and Ragnarok working together now. We can do much more than before. Maybe this month's game is as bad as it'll get.

[Diarmuid nods and then motions to the boar.]

Lets get this thing finished and get back to those two before they manage to get themselves killed.

[Or kill each other. Diarmuid is not discounting that possibility...]

Yeah, if any more big animals pop up, we'll be needed to drive them off.
