S-someone who's armed!

[That's the reply he gets back. Veronica wasn't wounded in any sense, but she was growing weak from lack of food. Hopefully she'd find something without starting a fight.]

I d-don't w-want any trouble...

[puppy_lancer]

Really now? Hunter or prey?

[He doesn't go off in the direction of the voice yet.]

...H-hunter.

[She's a bit nervous about everyone at the moment. It's best if you keep your distance.]

[puppy_lancer]

Ah. Well, then that means we don't need to kill each other. Yet.

W-why do w-we even need t-to kill each o-other at all?

[puppy_lancer]

What are you talking about? Don't you have a reason you entered into this game?

[Lancer would rather not hunt down and kill his fellow residents for just the sake of Ruana's games either, but the prize is to bring back Misaya. That's why he can't lose.]

Of c-course I do.

[Saving her friends here from a fate worse than death. It was worth killing someone right? Right?]

I j-just... I'm apprehensive about it. I d-don't kill innocents.

I know how you feel.

[He starts to step toward the voice, slowly and carefully.]

[Veronica stays where she is for a moment, but takes a few steps towards the other voice as well.]

[Lancer continues walking, at a faster pace. He doesn't stop until he can catch sight of the other person.]

[And eventually he does catch sight of her.

If he didn't remember Veronica, it should come as quite a surprise that someone looking so young would be in a game like this as a hunter. Although, the vicious scars that lined the teen's arms and legs should probably be enough of a clue to put together that she's not nearly as defenseless as she looks.

The sword in her hand probably helps as well. It's not pointed at Lander though. Not yet.]

So y-you're a h-hunter too?

Yeah.

[He frowns as he looks Veronica over. She seems too young to be hunting down and killing other people...but there were even younger kids among the prey. And Ken had taught him the Tower made people grow up quickly. He slings his spear casually across his shoulders.]

Like I said. Nothing to fear from me. We ain't hunting each other.

[stitchedupbodyguard]

Y-yet.

[Said matter-of-factly, steel in her voice.]

Like y-you said. E-even if I d-don't want to, s-someone is g-going to start killing other h-hunters.

[puppy_lancer]

It's not like killing hunters is gonna help us win the game.

[Meanwhile, there's a bit of a joking air in Lancer's voice.]

It'll keep others f-from winning.

[There might be a dryness in her tone now.]

I-I know how t-these things go. It's k-kill or b-be killed. Unless w-we get out of here s-soon, everyone w-will probably s-start fighting at s-some point.

An all out fight, huh?

[He chuckles dryly.]

Sounds a bit like stuff that happens in my world.

And a l-little like mine.

...At least, unlike either of our worlds, people come back to life here.

[He shrugs.]

I guess we can talk more about it later. I'm gonna start hunting again now. You wanna come with me?

I-Isn't the p-point of t-this thing to k-kill someone b-before anyone else?

Some of the people who got chose to be prey are tough. And without our powers, we're better off working together.

[And even when working together with someone, his arm had gotten fucked up.]
