(no subject)

Characters: Lord Grumpypants, Diarmuid, Diarmuid's idiot brothers, the extended family, and open to their CR and anyone that just wants to drop by.
Setting: Floor 81
Format: Party style, whichever format you prefer
Summary: When two busybodies start plotting, all hell breaks loose. "Waver's Anniversary" (or more informally known as Waver and Diarmuid's wedding party.) It's just a party. Nothing to see here. That cake is white just by... accident... and decorated to match the rings... yeeeeeeep... complete accident.
Warnings: Someone may decide to drown a couple people... who knows.

[In case someone is observant enough to notice, Waver and Diarmuid have been wearing matching rings... and under the disguise of a convenient excuse, that being Waver's one year anniversary in the Tower, Lancer and Reno have thrown a party to celebrate.

Keeping the relationship a perfect secret, of course. It's just a party. Good times, shooting the breeze, card games. Unfortunately, there's no booze. The lounge has been set up with a buffet with food from the Floor Sixty Kitchen, and there's a cake.

The cake happens to be white, and decorated. And that celtic knot decoration may just be matching the rings. Complete accident, of course.]

[And feel free to make your own custom subthread]

[+1 mildly entertained wallflower.

Tucking her skirts underneath her, Zelda takes a seat next to Asch's beanbag, a small plate of cake someone shoved into her hands settling upon her lap. It might look like she's only toyed with it (which, to be fair, she had before making a beeline to a beacon of calm amidst the craziness), but she has actually nibbled at it some. Be proud.]

I did not think we would see such liveliness again.

[Yes, 'lively' is a good way to put it. Still, it's nice in it's own way.]

[Mildly entertained wallflower party. Asch sits up a little straighter when she arrives, although it's hard to tell given the nature of his seat. He's still opting out of the cake, but all but one of the skewers on his plate have been picked clean, so that's something.

Lively is definitely the way to put it.]

It's good that they can find something to be cheerful about.

[And really, Reno getting chased around by Waver's maid was unreasonably entertaining.]

[Schaaaadenfreude~]

It is. I am always rather amazed when a party is thrown here-- genuine parties. [She corrects herself, because the one ball she "hosted" ultimately had ulterior motives to it.] Hyrule did not have nearly as many celebrations in seven years that this place has had in two, despite being far better off in some respects.

[War is never easy on a country, but at least the common folk did not need to worry much about regular torture. It's easier to eat when preoccupied with other thoughts, so she pops a small piece of cake in her mouth as she watches the party, both thoughtful and fond.]

if Zelda manages to be the one to pry the octopus story out of him I will laugh

Daath hardly had any at all. The cathedral was always somber.

[It is indeed easy to eat that way, although Asch's food requires a bit more chewing. There's a pause in conversation there while he does so.]

Before that I only have a few memories of parties that were notable somehow.

[Life of royalty at peacetime is more parties than you can stand, even for a kid.]

People snatch whatever happiness they can, I suppose.
sageprincess: (Pleasant relaxation)

octopus... story....

Parties among the nobility were always much stuffier affairs.

[She agrees with an idle note of distaste. Between the end of the civil war and Ganondorf's usurping of the throne, there were only a few years of peace in Hyrule, but those parties were more than enough for the tomboyish princess who would rather be running around town than meeting nobles that cared more for getting points with her father than her.

Yes, the chaos of mercury maids and hiding hosts is much preferable.]

Still, it is admirable. And as important as any act of rebellion, I think.

[Don't forget to smile, a boy long gone once wrote to her. Silly as the lead up might have been, there is a certain wisdom to those words.]

octopus story!!! also I am sorry this is short

That seems to be a universal constant. Sitting straight-backed and unhappy at my own birthday isn't something I miss.

[Of course, his birthdays after the kidnapping weren't much better, but at least he didn't have to pretend.]

now I simply must get it out of him

I remember trying to make games out of it for myself - counting how many times a gentleman who had imbibed a bit excessively would attempt to court a young lady who wanted nothing to do with him, and the like, but... it never would make up for the fact I was little more than a pretty little accessory at my father's side.

[Despite the undercurrent of melancholy bitterness in her tone, she relaxes in her seated position slightly, leaning against the side of Asch's beanbag for support. It's... oddly nice to have someone to relate to about the more unpleasant side of royal life.]

I cannot recall many years that were like that, but they were enough to make me agree with you entirely.

[Definitely something she's going to change if when she gets back to Hyrule.]
bloodyashes: ([F] Sorry about him)

yes you should

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend most functions with someone my own age - Natalia is only two years my senior.

[Having another kid to hang out with helps, it helps so much.]

The two of us almost always attended such things together - otherwise, I usually remained near my mother. Father didn't particularly care for having a child underfoot during court affairs; he was always distant.

[Not so distant to Asch as he was to Luke, for certain, but contact with his father beyond the dinner table was rare, and praise even more so. In retrospect, it's easy to see why Van was able to target him so easily, to take him in so completely.]

Most of the other children I remember growing up were servants, and except for Guy, I didn't have much contact with them.

[You remember Guy right Zelda. Of course you do.]

/MAKES A VALIANT EFFORT??

[personal profile] sageprincess 2014-03-23 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Zelda wishes she didn't remember Guy as well as she does.]

Mm, that is good, that you had someone.

[There perhaps is a pang of jealously in her voice despite her words, which may be more telling than anything she could say about her social life before her flight from Ganondorf. Still, even if it wasn't, she wouldn't give those memories voice, especially here. This is a celebration! Hardly the time for lamenting over the past.

So after a moment of toying with her cake, she lets her expression morph into something a little more playful.]

It means you likely did not need to sneak out as much as I did to get away from that kind of atmosphere. ... Unless your mother was as strict as my attendant, in which case I am very sorry.

[She was kind of a terrible princess as a kid, whoops.]
bloodyashes: (Keep this thing moving)

RESPONDS TO VALIANT EFFORT??

[personal profile] bloodyashes 2014-04-01 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
[It's hard to forget the guy who killed you and tried to hook you into his chain harem.]

Mother wasn't very strict, but she didn't provide much of my care due to her illness. I was left mostly to servants, especially once I was old enough to take basic care of myself.

[You know, walk, talk, piss, feed himself. That sort of thing.]

I snuck from the manor to the castle frequently and went into the city several times.

[So, you're in good company, Zelda. You weren't the only royal heir who began their ninja training by dodging their family's own guards.]
sageprincess: (Minuet of Forest)

kinda wandering in the dark here but valiantly, so valiantly

[personal profile] sageprincess 2014-04-01 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
... The Queen died before I was old enough to remember her face outside of portraits, and of course my father was busy. So I was raised by my attendant, Impa, and she took her duties very seriously.

[She's not used to talking about her biological family, and it shows in the way her voice quiets while speaking of them. But the fondness she has for Impa is also obvious, despite her words.

But, oh! She's in good company! And if that doesn't get her to perk up, few things will.]

Really? You did too? Did you take Natalia and Guy with you?

[She always had to go alone when she snuck out, unfortunately.]
