Summary: ~~When two busybodies start plotting, all hell breaks loose.~~ "Waver's Anniversary" (or more informally known as Waver and Diarmuid's wedding party.) It's just a party. Nothing to see here. That cake is white just by... accident... and decorated to match the rings... yeeeeeeep... complete accident.
Warnings: Someone may decide to drown a couple people... who knows.

[In case someone is observant enough to notice, Waver and Diarmuid have been wearing matching rings... and under the disguise of a convenient excuse, that being Waver's one year anniversary in the Tower, Lancer and Reno have thrown a party to celebrate.

Keeping the relationship a perfect secret, of course. It's just a party. Good times, shooting the breeze, card games. Unfortunately, there's no booze. The lounge has been set up with a buffet with food from the Floor Sixty Kitchen, and there's a cake.

The cake happens to be white, and decorated. And that celtic knot decoration may just be matching the rings. Complete accident, of course.]

Oh, so it’s a surprise for you too? You still should have told me you were getting married, even if you wanted to keep it quiet. I wouldn’t have blabbed to anyone!

[At least, he hopes that Reno and Cu Chulainn haven't been foolish enough ask someone to actually try performing a ceremony. Nothing he does might save the person or Reno and his brother then...]

[Ryoji looks away, embarrassed. He was jumping to conclusions and pressing the issue, wasn’t he? Not to mention he probably made Diarmuid feel very awkward.]

[Diarmuid reaches out to ruffle Ryoji's hair.]

This is suppose to be a happy occasion. Don't go getting gloomy on me. If Reno and my brother had their ways, there would be a marriage ceremony happening today. I can't say I wouldn't mind, but...Waver wouldn't like it and it might draw the wrong kind of attention if you catch my meaning.

[Ruana and Zo had showed up to Reno's wedding and Ganondorf had attacked them. Even though Ganondorf is gone, with things as they are now, the last thing anyone wants is Ruana showing up at a happy event...]

[Ryoji lets a chuckle slip past his lips before he dodges like he always does.]

I’m not being that gloomy… I was just embarrassed that I got all mixed up. But you’re right that it would catch the wrong sort of attention. Expressing the relationship though rings is already pretty close.

[And he can’t help but get a little bit curious about all that.]

Where did you get the rings from anyways?

[Diarmuid looks at the rings for a moment, his expression torn between happiness and sadness.]

We thought even they were too dangerous. I made him the hair clasp he's using right now and that was going to be it, but then someone got it in his head we needed something more.

[For a moment, he looks around and then manages to find a certain red head lurking in a corner and motions toward him.]

Reno made them and sent them to me. Why do you ask?

[Ryoji frowns softly as he listens.]

Well, that just shows that you have people who care about you. I hope the both of you stay out of danger, though.

[Ryoji glances in the direction Diarmuid motions and nods.]

Oh! I just talked to him a while ago. I didn’t know he made them! B-But anyways, I was just curious. Th-They just look really nice, is all!

Curious. Right...

[A mischievous look enters Diarmuid's eyes.]

Should I talk to Reno about getting my son and soon to be daughter-in-law a matching set then? You will just need to tell me what you would like on them. Celtic knot work doesn't mean as much to you two as it does to me and Waver.

[Ryoji turns bright red and shakes his head rapidly.]

I-I'm not looking for matching rings! Who said anything about a daughter-in-law? I only need one-I-I mean, if I needed one! But I don't! I don't need anything fancy like that!

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at the boy.]

Son, it's not nice to lie to your father. Especially, when he would much rather be celebrating with you instead of punishing you...

I-I know you wouldn’t punish me… I’m just embarrassed. I know we’re a little young for something like this, and I don’t even know if Yukiko will agree to it being more than just a promise ring. All I really want is for her to have something nice. N-Nothing more.

Considering who we are and what we have been through in this place, I really don't know that age should be a factor in any of this.

[Besides, if things do go terribly wrong and they only have these few months left...]

You realize if you insist on getting something nice for her, she will want the same for you in return. That is how this kind of thing works...

You think so? No one would think it was too soon? We’ve been together for close to a year now, but that’s hardly very long.

I… I guess that is true, but I wouldn’t want her to get me anything nice. She already gave me the greatest gift I could ever have received, just by being around me and allowing me to be with her as long as we were.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

Waver and I have only known each other about that long. Besides, we have no idea how things are going to end. Even if we wish for the best, there is no guarantee. If it is what you two want, then you should be allowed to do it.

And believe me, I understand you feel like you need nothing else. I have felt that way very often myself, but in the end, if your loved ones want to give you more to thank you, what use is there in denying them? It only upsets them.

...I-It is what I want. I don’t know if it’s what Yukiko wants, but I’d really like to ask her… I’d like to have as much time with her as possible. And if we do get separated at the end of our time here, for whatever reason… I don’t want to have any regrets.

[He nods and smiles up at Diarmuid.]

You’re right. You always are. You know I still won’t expect anything extra from anyone, but I guess if I do receive something, I won’t refuse it. I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, after all.

[Diarmuid gives Ryoji an encouraging look.]

Then I think you know what you should do. Good luck asking her and getting that ring. I have no doubt she will say yes. She...

[His voice cuts off and his eyes suddenly get wide. Diarmuid mutters a soft curse and then gives Ryoji an apologetic look.]

Reno must have said something to Waver again because I just saw the maid go running by chasing him. I need to stop her if you want to have someone left to ask about those rings. Have fun at the party, okay?
