Summary: ~~When two busybodies start plotting, all hell breaks loose.~~ "Waver's Anniversary" (or more informally known as Waver and Diarmuid's wedding party.) It's just a party. Nothing to see here. That cake is white just by... accident... and decorated to match the rings... yeeeeeeep... complete accident.
Warnings: Someone may decide to drown a couple people... who knows.

[In case someone is observant enough to notice, Waver and Diarmuid have been wearing matching rings... and under the disguise of a convenient excuse, that being Waver's one year anniversary in the Tower, Lancer and Reno have thrown a party to celebrate.

Keeping the relationship a perfect secret, of course. It's just a party. Good times, shooting the breeze, card games. Unfortunately, there's no booze. The lounge has been set up with a buffet with food from the Floor Sixty Kitchen, and there's a cake.

The cake happens to be white, and decorated. And that celtic knot decoration may just be matching the rings. Complete accident, of course.]

[Diarmuid sighs.]

[A sad look fills Diarmuid's eyes.]

[Diarmuid takes a deep breath, for a moment wondering if it is his place to tell, but of all the people in the Tower, no one else is going to understand how terrible a geis is better than Cu Chulainn.]

His geass is to live. He cannot die. In any way. Ever.

...That really is a terrible geass.

[A geass to live might seem like something good. But by now Cu Chulainn knows that living in shame is worse than dying honorably.]

Is he immortal, then?

For the most part. I have seen it pull him out of danger, even when it should not be able to and there are even some floors it will not allow him to go onto. It's really a terrible thing when it comes down to it.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Though, I am sure this place has found ways around it. It always finds a way to kill. Always...

So it basically forces him to be a coward. He can't even fight to the death alongside his friends.

[He closes his eyes and remembers some of his own experiences.]

...Yeah, it always finds a way. Even when you think it's not possible.

Yes, that is it exactly. It has even forced him to abandon those who he has tried to save a few times. Can you imagine how bad it must feel to dodge in to help deflect an attack and then suddenly find yourself across the room and watching your friend be cut down?

[Diarmuid distracts himself from the shiver that threatens at the thought by reaching out to give his brother's shoulder a squeeze.]

All we can do is try. What will be will be.

[He tries imagine, and then shakes his head. It's so horrifying that he doesn't want to think about it.]

[He gives his brother's hand a pat.]

Yeah...

...You know, speaking of trying, can you help me try with Urotsuki?

[Diarmuid gives his brother a confused look.]

What do you mean?

She's...she went a little weird in the labyrinth. She was actually laughing at the thought of hunting down and killing someone so she could bring her boyfriend back.

[He shudders at the memory.]

[Diarmuid winces when he hears that. Ruana had really dug down deep for those motivators, hadn't she?]

Everyone has people they would do the unspeakable to protect. Ruana had no right to play with those worries and hopes. Have you seen her since then? Do you know how she's handling what happened?

[He shakes his head.]

No, but I don't think she would have taken things well, and I'm not sure anything I could say would make it better.

[After all, is he supposed to tell her that she's wrong in trying to save Kidou? Even while he's doing the same thing for Misaya?]

So I'm waiting to see if she can cool off after a few days.

Giving her a little time is probably a good idea. Afterward, though, perhaps the three of us can get together?

[Diarmuid thinks for a moment before nodding to himself.]

We could do some hunting or some training. Talk happens naturally during those things.

[And maybe between the two of them they will find something that will help her deal with whatever happened down there.]

[That was the reason he hadn't invited her to the party. He wanted her to take time to cool off.]

Maybe training. Something might go on if she goes on a hunt.

If you think even training might be too much right now, perhaps we can get together to do something else?

[Diarmuid frowns. He doesn't know enough about her to know exactly what else she would like to do...]

Maybe watch a movie or something like that? There are a lot of things to choose from on the media floor...

There is, but I'm not sure if there's anything she likes. I don't wanna show her anything too bloody, in case it gives her any ideas.

Oh, definitely nothing like that.

[Diarmuid shakes his head emphatically.]

I was thinking more along the lines of something lighthearted and relaxing.

Hm...then I definitely have no idea which movie to pick out. You think Waver or Reno can suggest something?

I don't know that Waver has watched that many movies and Reno...

[He's not sure if he would trust ones that Reno picked.]

That's okay, though. Ryoji has watched a couple with me. I was thinking of one of those actually.

Really? Then I'll go ask him!

[He starts wolfing down his cake quicker.]

[Diarmuid laughs and the points over where Ryoji is talking to another party goer.]

Sure. He's right over there. Just...please don't choke on your cake before you get the chance to ask him!
