seventeenth prayer
Characters: Kyoko Sakura, open
Setting: Room 01-05, dorms, cafeteria, staircase
Format: Action
Summary: After spending months in her dead world, Kyoko is back in the tower.
Warnings: None.
Room 01-05
[It's been a long, long time since she's woken up in a bed like this. The sheets are clean and white, the room well kept and maintained, and when she sits up Kyoko finds that there are three others. Her hand touches the space next to her. She peers over both sides of the bed, almost expecting someone to be there. The small child that she'd gotten so used to sleeping next to during her time here.
Of course, something like that would be too romantic.
She pulls her knees up, scanning the room again. After spending months in a dead world, she should be jumping at the idea of being in a place with people--some place with warmth and good meals, but instead she just feels tired. There were no people in her world. No Puella Magi, Witches or Incubators. Nothing but her. Everything was dull and gray, lonely and empty.
She heaves out a heavy sigh. One last look. If she sees anyone else in the room, she'll finally raise her hand in acknowledgement.]
Yo.
Dorms
[It took some time, but she managed to force herself up, get changed and leave the room. She knew without even checking that none of her fellow Puella Magi were here. Their magical signatures were decidedly abscent. Even so, starting with the first room, she stops in front of each and every room.
Her eyes scan the name plates, looking for familiar names. Mami Tomoe, Sayaka Miki, Homura Akemi, Madoka Kaname. Kazumi, Saki Asami. Czeslaw Meyer, Naoto Shirogane, Yosuke Hanamura. They're all decidedly absent and her heart sinks a little with each door that she passes by.
Eventually she starts finding names that she recognizes. People who were decent, people that she might be able to rely on for information. She'll worry about that later. For now, she just wants to look for somebody she can trust for just a little while longer.]
Cafeteria
[The cafeteria is the one place that Kyoko still has interest in. After months of nothing, her stomach feels like it's gnawing on itself. She knew that she didn't need food. No matter how much time passed, her weight didn't change. She never suffered for it, but that sensation was always there. It has been since the day that her father died. It increased every day. Empty, hungry, unworthy of even having a decent meal.
She plans on making up for all of that lost time now. It'd been hard to wait for the elevator to hit the bottom, but well worth it. An empty bowl of oatmeal has already been pushed aside, along with a few plates that have been stacked up. Several more things sit out in front of her. Sandwich and chicken nuggets, cake and brownies. In her hands are a bowl of ice cream and a spoon, which she's rapidly devouring.
She almost feels normal again, if only for a moment. She speaks to no one in particular.]
Haah, how long's it been since I've had a decent meal like this? Being stuck in the middle of no where like that was a serious pain, y'know.
Staircase (any floor)
[Her stomach was full, but in the end it hadn't fixed the somewhat hollow feeling that finding herself alone again had brought on, but after dealing with it for months, perhaps that's not a surprise.
Her final duty of business was to check the tower once more. It's easy to slip back into that old habit, even after all this time. She progresses up the stairs, pausing as she reaches each floor to look this way and that. Kyoko doesn't bother stepping onto any of them. That can be done another day. There's a stick of banana pocky in her mouth. One hand is in her pocket.
For now she just scans them blankly, without much interest in their contents. An infirmary, a forest, a room filled with screaming (she tries to pass through that one quickly,) torture chambers and fish. She saw it every day for so long, and it's still all the same (still all fake) none of it seems interesting anymore.]

Dorms!
Not that she'd let herself outright forget them, but sometimes it really was easier to just push it aside and give those thoughts no time to take root. The last time someone she cared about vanished from the Tower without a trace she'd only been shaken up for about a day, and really the less time she spent thinking about how used she was getting to it, the better.
The day started like pretty much any other, and just out of habit one of the first things she'd decided to do was to take a stroll around the dorms, eyes open as ever for any changes worth noting. Anyone important vanishing, anyone significant showing up. It's when she reaches the same floor as Kyoko that she suddenly stops dead, staring straight down the hallway.
It only takes a second to recognize her and she isn't entirely sure what she wants to do, she'd never even considered the possibility that Kyoko would simply... come back like that. Fortunately she resists the urge to run up and hug the other girl, well aware that wearing such unfamiliar looking armor, such a gesture would probably get her stabbed.
And she's grateful for the face concealing helmet she's wearing as well, because she knows full well she isn't going to look or sound as composed as she wants to when she approaches, hands folded behind her back and well aware the other girl is going to hear her the second she steps onto the hallway, her armor isn't exactly light. And though the weapons she's carrying are the same as when they first met, Amelia decides it's best to speak up while there's still some distance between them in case she doesn't recognize her right away.
It still takes her a second to find her voice.]
... Kyoko? [Inwardly she swears. She'd intended to keep her tone calm. Composed. How a proper knight should sound. The way it comes out instead is quite a bit shakier, somewhere between hopeful and almost afraid. Afraid that it might not be the same Kyoko, or that maybe she won't remember anything, or that the Tower is once again trying to trick her somehow.]

Yo.
[Her greeting is casual, if a bit flat. She skims through her memories, and after several seconds she finally comes up with an answer. That girl she'd tried to kill, the one she'd run into during the elevator...Amelia, was it? It must have been something like that.]
Figured everyone here'd have dropped dead by now.
[It's probably a joke, or maybe just an attempt at cutting off any attempts at a feel good reunion. After months of being by herself, she has no interest in coddling another person, nor does she want to receive their pity.]
no subject
Now she's torn between wanting to hug her and wanting to throttle her, but that's a somewhat more familiar feeling and one she missed, in an odd sort of way. Her voice is still just a bit shaky but the hint of fear is gone, replaced by something a bit more sarcastic.]
Sorry to disappoint you, but fortunately we're not dead yet. Or unfortunately, depending on who you ask. There's probably a few people here who'd consider being dead a step up by now.
[And she's not sure she disagrees anymore. She takes a deep breath to steady herself, forcing herself to stand upright and at least look more like a proper knight.]
Anyone fill you in on what you've missed yet?
no subject
Any information she needs can probably be found on the network later. She'll have to check it one way or another. Kyoko has learned not to believe everything that she hears. Lies and misinterpretation mix in with the truth.]
You're the first person I've seen.
[She shrugs her shoulders, not seeming terribly interested.]
Anyone else die?
[That's really all that really matters.]
dorms (around 1-17?)
Are you looking for someone..?
no subject
No one that I'll find here.
[Her voice is low, just loud enough to be heard. It's a waste of time and she knows it, but she can't bring herself to give up so easily.
Just one person. She wants to find that there's just one person left.
There's a moment of hesitation before she adds half-hearted,]
You seen a kid named Czeslaw Meyer around here? Might've introduced himself as Benjamin...dunno why he's so worried about hiding his name from people. Seems stupid to me, y'know.

[She offers a small shrug. From the very beginning she knew that it'd take a miracle for anyone she knew to have disappeared to be here with her, though to hear it confirmed stings more than she'd care to admit.]
How long've you been here?
no subject
cafeteria
Which is why he's sitting at a nearby table embroidering between bites of oatmeal and a sandwich when Kyoko speaks. He doesn't think she's addressing him, but her words get his attention. 'Stuck in the middle of no where'?
He puts down the hoop on the table and turns in his seat to examine her. In the midst of wondering if she possibly means her dead world, England realises that he recognises her. He doesn't know her name, naturally, but her face is a familiar one. As he glances to the stack of empty plates on the table in front of her, he can't help but think that her eating habits are reminiscent of someone else he knows.]
You came back at a convenient time if a meal is what you were most looking forward to. [Not that Zo is exactly a gourmet, but at least he has more than nutrition bars and he's unlikely to poison the residents.]
no subject
Huh? They run out out of food or something?
[Or maybe that's not what he meant. It takes a few moments for her to remember that some of the admins prefer to serve up nothing but oatmeal and nutrition bars. Or rather, they don't try to decorate it, pretend that it's something else. Those can't exactly be called a meal, not as bland and tasteless as they are, but Kyoko herself has always found it highly preferable to the thought of being left with nothing at all.
She curls her fingers around the handle of her spoon, pulling it out of her mouth and pointing it at England as she continues.]
Well, it's not like this stuff is what it looks like either, y'know.
Staircase (meadow)
Her antennae twitch and she looks up at Kyoko standing by the staircase. Wriggle stares at her for a few moments and cocks her head to the side as if trying to remember]
Are you looking for something?
no subject
Kyoko rolls her shoulders as she hops off the staircase, padding through the grass towards Wriggle. Might as well at least try and figure out who this one is.]
...just catching up. This place hasn't changed at all, y'know.
[That's a lie, but only a small one. Everything's different, but everything is the same.]
no subject
[She lowers the flowers she was weaving into her lap and gives her a questioning look]
It changed loads when I came back, hidden floors and new collars and all kinds of stuff!
no subject
[She blinks. It takes her a moment to figure out what she's talking about, but that's right--when the glamor went down, there was an extra floor, wasn't it?]
You mean the one that showed up when the power went out? I didn't think anyone could get to that one.
staircase (infirmary)
Woah, it's you. Haven't seen you around in a long time.
Re: staircase (infirmary)
Kyoko steps out onto the infirmary, stuffing her hands into the pocket. She recognizes that face, that voice. This guy was seriously annoying. She should probably whip up some smart remark right about now, say something to get under her skin, but she can't quite bring herself to care enough for that.
There's a small, bitter laugh as she settles on a more direct answer.]
Got homesick, so I figured I'd ditch this place for awhile. Turns out there's nothing good there either.
[It's not completely. She went back because Zo lost her, came back because he reached out to her again, but the rest of it is true enough. What's not is easy enough to recognize.]
no subject
Aw, man. Sorry you had to go back there.
...There's one good thing about this place now, though. Jason's gone.
no subject
...what happened?
no subject
[Ruana had gotten rid of him the same way she had gotten rid of Dax.]
no subject
Tch. That girl's even worse than he was, y'know... Hard to believe that guy's the one that was behind it. The Hell was the point of doing all that kissing up if he was just gonna get himself killed anyway? What an idiot.
( ooc: Sorry this is so late! Feel free to drop it if you don't feel up to continuing. )
no subject
Supposedly? Because it was all some sort of experiment for him. But yeah, he's an idiot.
[OOC: It's alright!]
no subject
[There's the vague feeling that she's missing someone, but she can't place who.]
no subject
[And he doesn't know when Ruana might want to make it just two of them. Or just one of them.]
1/2 Our room
After a few seconds, she starts slowly walking towards you.] Kyok-
2/2
no subject
She'd recognize those klutzy actions anywhere, though.]
You haven't changed at all.
[Her voice is uncharacteristically soft, even a little distant, but there's a hint of warmth to it as well. She's missed these little things, the ones that she always brushed of and rolled her eyes at.]
no subject
[And then she saw that little smile on Kyoko's face. How.....wonderful. Kyoko could be a bit grumpy at times so to see her smile like that.....it filled Colette's heart with joy.
The Chosen could not help but smile back.]
Welcome back, Kyoko.
no subject
Thanks.
[She looks around the room again, before voicing a question that she doesn't really want the answer to.]
How long's it been? Feels like it's been forever since I've had to see this place, y'know.
( ooc: Sorry this is so late! Feel free to drop it if you don't feel up to continuing. )
no subject
You must be hungry. Let's get you something to eat?
How long has it been? Well, I saw your gravestone in August, so....
