Endgame: Gathered on This Beach of the Tumid River

[The Tower is stagnant, the only signs of activity confined to the second block. There isn't much time left; it might be a good idea to rest and do whatever strikes your fancy before the timer hits zero.]

[He all but collapses right next to Diarmuid.]

It's...not that bad.

[He pulls his hand away, showing that it's a stab wound going in from the front and out the back.]

Just gonna take a while to deal with, since it's from Gae Bolg. Damn retrieval units turned my own Noble Phantasm against me.

[Diarmuid pales and then swears under his breath, immediately starting to dig through the kit he had been using for something to clean and then try to stitch the wound with. It isn't going to be easy considering Gae Bolg's ability. Thank whoever is watching over them that the weapon managed to miss his heart.]

Can you focus enough to use your magic to unravel the curse some like you did when I got that cut on my face?

[As he is talking, Mac an Chuill curls around Cu Chulainn's feet still whining softly.]

I can, but it'll take me some time.

[He reaches down to give Mac an Chuill a scratch on the ear.]

I think I'll need a pillow more than I need bandages.

You will bleed out if you do that. That is not exactly a small hole in your shoulder! If you can't focus enough to use your magic, just let me do the best I can...

[Diarmuid pauses a moment, brow furrowing.]

I can't remember, did we try to see if my spear would negate the curse back then?

[It doesn't have to be for long. Just long enough for Diarmuid to get it cleaned up and stitched. His brother's body can likely do the rest from there.]

[Lancer cringes as he hears his brother's protests.]

I don't know. You said it would only work so long as it was in contact with the area.

[Still, getting the exterior wound closed might help.]

Maybe...give it a try?

I'm hoping that because my powers are real now and because it is your Noble Phantasm, maybe things will be a little different when it comes to your body being able to heal the wound. Just let me know if something starts feeling...weird or wrong, okay?

[Diarmuid steps back and summons Gae Dearg to his hand, unsealing it with a thought, and then resting the point of the spear as close to the wound as he can.]

Can you hold it there while I work?

[He grabs the point of the spear with his good hand. So far, nothing seems wrong or strange.]

It's just for a little bit. I will work as fast as I can.

[Fortunately, the bleeding does seem to slow allowing Diarmuid to get some cleaning done before he settles in to start the really hard part...stitching things up.]

I want you to talk to one of the healers once I am done. They might not be able to fully heal this, but every little bit will help.

[He tsks his tongue.]

If we're talking healers, then I can heal myself just fine. I've got my runes, remember?

Yes you do, but you need to focus your body's energies on healing, not on spell casting.

[It sounds backward, but hopefully, his brother gets what Diarmuid is trying to say.]

Let someone else use some of their energy to help.

[He shakes his head.]

I don't know. It might take them too much work. And we only have so many healers for all our wounded.

[Diarmuid gives his brother a hard look.]

And you are one of the wounded. Go talk to one of them. If nothing else, you can take over for one of them later once you are stronger.

[He pauses for a moment as he gets ready to start stitching.]

Don't make me find Asagi and have her drag you over.

...You don't have to drag get Asagi.

[He sighs in defeat.]

I'll...go find a healer.

Thank you. Now hold still as much as you can. I'm ready to start stitching it. Let me know if I need to stop, okay?

[Diarmuid pats the hand his brother has on his spear.]

Hold it just a little longer.

[He grabs the spear a little tighter, almost tight enough to cut his hand.]

Go ahead, Bro. I can take it.

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at Cu Chulainn, before reaching out to loosen his brother's hand from the spear slightly.]

Please don't hurt yourself worse than you already are, okay?

[Really, Cu...]

[He smiles apologetically.]

Sorry. Guess I braced myself a little too hard there.

Just a little.

[Diarmuid gives his brother a smile and then starts to work on the stitching. Considering he fully expects that they will probably end up fighting again before the wound can fully heal even with a healer's help--stupid curse--Diarmuid takes extra care to make sure he does a good job. The extra attention takes a while, but finally he is done.]

Feeling okay still?

Yeah, I'm okay.

[He lets go of the spear. The outside of his wound is sealed, but as his un-glamoured body shows, his purple collar fluid is still pooling around his shoulder. It's obvious he has internal bleeding.]

Now, I just wanna get some rest.

[Diarmuid frowns as he unsummons his spear. He doesn't like how that wound looks and if the bleeding continues it's going to cause a problem.]

Lay down and rest. I think I am going to see if I can find Ken or Yukiko. It might push the healing along if we can have someone heal while I have my spear in place.

[He shakes his head.]

You're pretty torn up yourself. Aren't you going to rest?

I'm not the one still bleeding internally. Just rest.

[Diarmuid presses a hand lightly against his brother's chest.]

I will rest myself once this is done, okay? You know me. Otherwise, I am just going to worry.

Alright.

[He mutters, leaning against the wall.]

Don't take too, okay, Bro?

Don't worry. I will do my best to be quick so you and I can both rest for real.

[He reaches out to ruffle his brother's hair, then turns and disappears into the crowd.]
