The first time Ienzo had seen the Unfortunate Network Post, he hadn't caught the "I SEE YOU", or anything of the kind. He probably should have, though, considering it filled the entire room.

Somehow the computer's volume control had been messed with, and the entire floor is now being graced with a loud refrain of "MOMMY, MOMMY, MOMMY" and whatever creepy song that was. Ienzo is trying to turn it off, but he looks more concerned with the fact that it's broadcasting all across the room than whatever content is being played.

Seeing the horned shadow and messy hair behind him, Ienzo thought first that it was his roommate Karkat, who would probably throttle him if he found him in this state. But turning around -- thank goodness -- it turned out to be Kanaya. At least she was able to put up something resembling sanity. He nods now and turns back to the terminal, hoping that he would somehow be struck with inspiration on how to turn the damned thing off. But he didn't. Guh. And it had to be in front of Kanaya, didn't it.

She's quiet for a few moments, as if she's studying the screen. Which she is. Because of that she doesn't notice any inner turmoil that Ienzo may have. Besides, the screen is much more interesting than inner turmoil for now, even if she would be a bit shocked to hear that he confused the shadow of her horns to the shadow of Karkat's horns. They're very different! Kanaya makes a hmm sound, "I wonder what they see. Is the video function turned on?" She looks over the computer, "It doesn't look like it is."

They're both kind of pointy and not very big. And he isn't looking very hard. This is an extremely stressful situation ok. ...Anyhow, he shakes his head in response to her question. "No. I didn't put a response..." He's wondering if, perhaps, they should? Even if it is something silly like scare tactics, there could be some insight gained from trying to contact the tower group again. One of them had responded to earlier letters, or at least had tried to...

Hey, her horns are a lot bigger than Karkat's, and hers are pointy, and one has a tail. Her horns are so much better than Karkat's you don't even know. But yes, there are more important issues at hand.

"I wonder what it is supposed to say?"

They are not. They are roughly the same size, though Kanaya's are admittedly a little bigger, and not stupid nubs like Karkat's. Is there some kind of horn hierarchy too? Ienzo would not be surprised if there was, considering. But instead of going off on (another) tangent about skewed troll society, they both get back to the here and now.

He shakes his head; nothing can be made out, aside from the small, probably primal urge in the back of his head for him to recoil and flee as fast as he can.

Roughly the same size? What horns are you looking at? Karkat could cover his horns if his hair grew out just a little bit, Kanaya's horns are much longer than his, majestic even. But they can go into this another time, another day.

Kanaya sighs, "We need to prepare ourselves."

Yes. Horn arguments are for times when lives aren't at stake, of course. Silly narratives, always getting so distracted with frivolous things like horn comparisons. This argument-except-not will be picked up again later, surely.

"...but we don't know what we're preparing against. This could mean anything." Or, it could mean nothing at all.

She sighs, "Any preparation is better than none at all, don't you think?"

He leans his head on his hand, looking at her thoughtfully. "...I suppose so." But again -- what do they prepare against? Ach. Paranoia might be for the best here.

"I think we should stick together, stay in pairs so we cannot be taken during the night."

He tilts his head slightly, considering this suggestion. "...You're right. That does make sense." Probably gather some rations, too, in case of food poisoning. And some definite mental exercises so that when the inevitable little girl demons come, calling for their parents, at least someone will be able to resist going out and hugging them or something equally stupid.

Kanaya bites her lip, Jade blood appears but she wipes it away and licks her finger clean before it can drip, "Do you have any other suggestions?"

"...Rations. And... perhaps urging others to show some self-control... in case anything comes around that may upset them." He's seen a few people already who were concerned with the fact that it was a little girl looking for her mother, and not so much that the network is going haywire. This is concerning, especially if those same people are the types to rush out and protect whatever seems to be in danger, without thinking about it first.

"This may be over cautious, but perhaps implementing a password system? I believe it is in the towers range of capabilities to imitate, or control the mind of, at least one of us in order to lull others into a false sense of security."

Hmm. "How exactly would this system work?" If it involved hacking into the networks, well, have fun with that, Kanaya. You have already seen what a spectacular derp he is around technology...

"Just have an agreed upon phrase to say at the beginning of a conversation to indicate you are who you claim to be, then at the end of the conversation come up with a new phrase."

To a normal person this would sound stupid and not at all necessary, but obviously, neither of these two were normal people. So, Kanaya had just pitched a perfectly reasonable suggestion that obviously would not be harmed at all, because to be harmed there would have to be a somewhat flighty black-haired girl in the equation, and as can be plainly seen there are no flighty black-haired girls anywhere in the immediate area.

What could possibly go wrong?

"...Alright," he said. "That sounds sensible."

Oh no, this was the best plan ever.

"What should the first password be?"

Oh man, Kanaya. You should know better than to ask Ienzo something as objective as that. (Well okay, not really, but he doesn't fare too well. Kid isn't very imaginative, you see.)

"...It should be a phrase. If one of us comes up to the other and outright asks for a password... it might cause the intruder to look further into it..."

Opinions are so difficult.

"Hmm, a phrase would be more useful. Or a set question and answer that doesn't seem suspicious, such as... 'Have you been to the fourteenth floor lately?' 'No but I am prepared to if the need arises.' or something similar."

"Yes. ...Shall we use that? Floor fourteen?"

"Well floor fourteen is the media room if I remember correctly, perhaps we should pick another?"

"Floor eighteen, then?" The study room. Ienzo preferred not to go in there because the lighting was shoddy, and the room was fond of performing the typical 'paranormal activity' tricks. Footsteps. Loud breathing. Fingernails on chalkboard. Terrifying.

A nod, "Floor eighteen works well." It's not one of her favorite floors.

Case closed, then. Floor eighteen.

"...Well then," he said, sighing quietly, "may I take my leave?" He has things to think about. Lots of things.
