[He's familiar with the sort of nervousness she's exhibiting, so he'll remain where he is. She doesn't appear to be too bad, unlike some of the other's he's seen around here Grand Highblood. Actually on first glance she appears to be quite sweet, but outward appearances don't always show the person on the inside...

[She'd probably disagree with his first impression, not because it was actually incorrect, but because she would think it was. She's never quite been able to forgive her own past actions, perpetrated by a younger, more naieve self who was trapped from the beginning of her lifetime. Funny how sometimes it's easier to forgive someone else than it is to forgive oneself.]

[She eventually does make it to where he is, but even then she pauses briefly before forcing herself to lower her hands. They stay together, though, even as she works out a genuine but slightly nervous smile and, lacking an idea of how else to start, says,] Hello.

[He's got his own fingers twisted up in a knot by the time she works up the courage and approaches him, mostly from over thinking. His shoulders twinge a little in a typical jerk at her voice, looking at her.]

[Her smile widens just a bit when he responds, but after that she's not quite certain what else to say. Her shoulders rise slightly and she glances away, then back at him, almost says "um" herself, and after all that finally comes up with,] It's... a nice party, isn't it?

As nice as parties can get I guess. [He's not really a party person after all. Soul bites his lower lip, showing jagged pearly whites before he speaks again.] I'm Soul.

[She tilts her head just a bit at the comment, expression curious. Perhaps he... just doesn't like parties? The appearance of his teeth makes her automatically glance at them, and she blinks, but nothing else really changes about her face; she doesn't seem put off by them - she's never been put off by appearances much - and she looks back up at the rest of his face barely a second or two later. She knows plenty of trolls, and some of them have the kind of teeth a wood chipper would be jealous of. He's not a troll, but the principle that there are a lot of different kinds of people in this place still applies, so really, she's not even particularly surprised to see exceptionally jagged teeth.] I'm Naminé. [And that smile comes back more easily than before.] It's nice to meet you.

You too. [Okay, so she was pretty nice, like he'd thought in his earlier assumption. He smiles his own smile, though it's really more of a smirk before he tries to think of something else to say.] H-Have you been here long? I mean in the tower.

[She's pleased to see a smile - or smirk, whicever. Either way, it probably means he's not miserable, which is definitely a good thing. The question requires that she think for a moment or two; time's never meant much to her, so she hasn't been keeping track as well as she probably should have been. Still, she has a rough estimation, so,] Mm... I got here around late August, so... about three months, I think? What about you?

Hmm... [He paused, tapping a finger to his chin.] I think I got here early November so...a little under a month I guess.

Oh...! So you're pretty new, then. [Her mouth tightens just a little, expression edging toward something kind of sympathetic but kept in check by the smile she's careful to keep in place.] How have you been... adjusting?

Yeah, and a-alright I think. [He notices the slight change in expression by how much he's come to predict Maka's moodswings by her face, but he doesn't say anything about it.] It's still pretty weird. The check ups and collar I could do w-without.

[Her hands raise a little, her fingers loosening into a more comfortable position as she nods.] That's good. I know it isn't easy. And you're right, the collar is really strange. It gets easier once you've been wearing it for a long time. You forget it's there most of the time. Or at least, I do. [Ironically enough, considering her connection to memories. Now that she's thinking about it, one of her hands drifts up and she lightly presses her fingertips against her own collar thoughtfully.] But... still, I do wonder what they're really for.

Probably to keep us in check. [Soul let his own hand trail up to his throat, lightly touching the indigo collar around his neck. He didn't want to cause anything to happen after all.] I-I heard they blow up if you meddle with them, so...

Probably. [It makes sense, and it is the most obvious idea.] --Blow up? [She retracts her hand from her purple collar abruptly, but the hand hangs in the air afterward as if she's not quite sure what to do with it.] I haven't heard that before...!

O-oh. I didn't mean to alarm you. [He holds up his own hands in a 'sorry' motion, his expression changing.] I t-think it's only if it's excessive meddling, l-like trying to take it off.

[The hand that was previously on her collar curls closed and goes down to rest against her chest.] Oh-- it's okay. You didn't do anything wrong. It's better that I know, I think. [She frowns a little, though.] Hm.... [She seems to remember herself and smiles again, offering what's probably meant to be a joking,] I guess I won't try that, then. ...Where did you hear about that?

[Soul raises his hand slightly to scratch his cheek again, looking off to the side a bit, or at least diverting his gaze from her.] O-on that flyer that was around. Someone showed m-me one when I first arrived a-and it hinted at being blown up if you...tried to remove the collar...

I must not have seen that part. Huh. Funny, I wonder why the flyer isn't aren't around anymore...? [Not that that matters, right now. She shakes her head.] I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.
