Collapsing [Taiki, Eridan and open]

Characters: Taiki, Eridan anyone who wants to come visit Eridan or sick Taiki. (Willow, Sollux, Dualscars since you all said you wanted to meet the two of them together!)
Setting: Room 2-18, after Eridan is released from the infirmary
Format: You pick!
Summary: All this blood finally gets to Taiki, he gets sick.
Warnings: mentions of blood

Taiki was relieved when Eridan could leave the infirmary, the place smelt of blood and pain even worse than the rest of the tower. They went down to get the lift up to the dormitory floors, Taiki managed to last long enough to arrive in the coridoor before he collapsed.

It was all too much, all the blood, he had gotten blood on him, blood had been all around them. He had continued going because he had to save Eridan, because he didn't want to leave Eridan but his body couldn't cope any longer and he fell to the ground trembling, his eyes rolling back as he lost conciousness.

If Eridan touched him up he would be burning to the touch.

[A day or two later] Taiki finally started to recover, though he had no strength at all he was able to stay awake for a few hours at a time, and was well enough to recieve visitors, if anyone cared to come and see him.

[Eridan watches, just a tiny bit miffed that she's ignoring him now. He squirms a little]

Yeah, it wwas real generous a them both, that one to heal me an' Taiki to sit by my side wwhile I wwasn't feelin' wwell.

So...wwhat did you come by for? To see if I wwas okay?

What are you apologizing for? [she scolds Taiki gently. Gosh, he seems so young.] You're injured, no apologies. It's all good.

[Willow turns back to Eridan, then, totally oblivious to any lingering jealousy.] Definitely to see how you were, but also-- [A bit of a mischievous, self-satisfied look.] I'm ready to do that spell if you are. I have all the supplies in my bag.

I... sor... [Taiki catches himself and smiles nervously before falling quiet and listening.]

A spell? You mean magic? [Interest sounds in his voice, he hadn't met that many people who were magic here]

[OH BOY. Eridan perks up and his fins flare in excitement, spreading like fans and shifting forward]

Wwe're gonna enchant my ring?

Yes we are, [she says triumphantly.] Your ring has a date. A date with enchantment.

[To Taiki--] Yup, I'm a witch, and I promised to help Eridan out with something. So here I am, making good on that.

But first... [Digging into her bag and coming up with a plastic-wrapped pile of homemade chocolate chip cookies.] Get well cookies! For both of you, I guess.

[Taiki smiled] Why are you going to enchant it? Erm... can I watch? [He was interested in this magic from other worlds, because even though Willow looked human he guessed she was not from the earth that he knew.

He smiled again but looked a little awkward] Erm... thank you...

[Eridan side-eyes Taiki, then shrugs and pulls off his kismesis ring and weighs it in his hand. He'd prefer if no one know about this enchantment, so it can't possibly get back to Sollux, but if anyone has to know about it, he's okay with it being Taiki]

It's gonna get a protectivve enchantment so Sol can't hurt me wwith his psionics. [He's pretty sure this will get the Taiki Seal of Approval]

[And she's brought cookies! He takes the pile, pleased] You made these?

I don't mind if you watch if Eridan doesn't. It's up to you, [she says to him, giving him her own pleased smile as he takes the cookies.]

These cookies are 100% Willow made with my own hands. I may have been simultaneously bored and worried, which frequently results in baking, at least for me.

[Taiki smiled as well but made no move towards the cookies, and hoped no one noticed. He definitly approved of a ring to stop Eridan getting hurt but he was confused] But isn't Sol... [Trolls seemed to have strange views on friendship but Taiki had seen Solux in the infirmary, he seemed to care for Eridan, and hadn't Eridan said he was his... kismesis, whatever that meant Taiki thought it was more even then friendship]

Because that's wwhat kismeses do. [Sollux had been nice to him, sure. But that wasn't the nature of their relationship] An' as I explained to Wwill, because he's a gold blood an' all, and he's got powwerful psychic powwers, and I don't havve anything like that, our relationship is real unequal.

[Pause, and then gestures Willow over to his sleeping rectangle, where he takes a seat and places the great big topaz spade ring on the coverlet] I don't mind if you wwatch. Can wwe do it noww, and then eat the cookies after?

Spell now, cookies after: no problem.

I need to set up first, though, so... [She picks up his ring carefully and hands it back to him, curling his fingers around it gently.] Hold onto this for now. We need to clear some space on the floor first, and I don't want it to get lost.

[Wait what, sorry Eridan Taiki is still stuck on the hurting being what kismeses do. He blinks in a mixture of confusion and worry. Even as he speaks he is moving towards the end of the bed so that he can watch Willow] Sorry... Eridan... I erm... what's a kismeses? Why would he hurt you? That... sorry that doesn't sound very nice of him...

[So Sollux had powers as well, psychic ones, no wonder Eridan wanted protection from him. Taiki frowned worried and turned his eyes to Willow who was setting up for her spell, he wanted to help but he knew if he got out of bed he would just fall over.]

[He takes the ring and holds it tightly, purpling a little at the way she covers his hand with her own.]

All right, wwell make your arrangements. Do you wwant me to help?

[He looks at Taiki] He's a fuckin' asshole, wwhich is wwhy I need this protection, obvviously. Our relationship is based on the blackest a hate and a bitter rivvalry, so anythin' I can do to get a leg up ovver him wwould be good.

I think just watch for now? [she says to his offer to help.] This can be a little delicate, and since you're holding onto it afterward, mistakes would be majorly of the bad. We can do something for practice later.

[She lets the explanation of kismeses wash over her as she takes a step away and turns to roll the area rug back with the sort of perfunctory matter-of-factness that implies she's done this a lot before. With the hardwood exposed, Willow sinks to her knees and ducks her head under the strap of her bag, taking it off and setting it on the floor beside her.

Supplies are unpacked one by one: a small sealed glass jar of blackish-gray paste, several candles, a palm-sized earthenware bowl, and a packet of herbs.]

Oh... [Taiki looked horrified but was quiet for now, he would ask Eridan when they were alone since he was too nervous to ask questions in front of Willow. He peered at what she was doing, interested at what she needed.]

What... sorry... Can I ask a question Willow?

[Eridan scowls a little, but climbs back onto the bed and sits, watching with intense eyes, memorizing everything she does and filing it away to ask a million questions later.

At Taiki's question, he glances over at the boy momentarily, wondering what he wants to ask]

[Willow is too involved in what she's doing to notice Eridan scowling, and is actually a bit startled to be addressed.] Oh-- um, sure. Go ahead. This is just the setting up part, so you guys can talk.

While I'm doing the spell, not so much, [she goes on, setting things in place and mixing herbs and so forth, almost business-like as she speaks.] Ixnay on the talking during spells. But for now it's okay.

What's your question?

[Taiki smiled softly, he liked Willow she seemed nice.] Sorry... I was just wondering... why do you need all these things... [All the magic he'd ever seen came from inside people, they didn't need candles or herbs or anything.]

[Eridan has seen Willow do magic with no more than concentration, so he's curious about this, as well. This seems more like what he would expect, and he assumes it's necessary for this kind of spell. He doesn't interrupt, and glances at Willow to see what she says]

This is ritual magic, with all of the props and spell components. Since I want Eridan to be protected even while I'm not around, I have to make sure the spell will stick while I'm not focusing on it. I can't think about it all the time. Using objects gets you more permanence -- that's why I asked to use something of his; in this case, his ring.

[She glances up at Eridan right then, and gives him a smile, just slightly shy. Willow would think that once she was old enough this maybe-liking-someone process would get less silly and awkward, but apparently not.] Which I could use now, by the way.

[Taiki nodded, listening carefully. He was interested in this magic, it sounded more complicated than anything he had ever learnt. Well apart from binding shirei. But it made sense that she needed another object other than herself for the spell to be focused by. He watched quietly now, sensing the spell was about to start and not wanting to interupt.]

[Eridan smiles back, soft and eager, and jumps a bit as she requests the ring, scooting forward to hand it to her with eyes bright with anticipation]

So for short term stuff wwhere you don't wwant it forevver, it's okay to just use wwillpowwer, but for somethin' wwhere you're gonna givve it awway after and havve it last, you use a ritual?

You got it. That's why I asked for a goddess' help when we went swimming-- I wanted that to be a little more long term.

[There's the cliché finger brushing as she accepts the ring from him, and Willow fights down a twinge of blushing embarrassment. This is seriously like being in high school again. She hadn't realized it'd been so long since she went through this song and dance until now.]

Okay, magic time. You guys ready? This shouldn't take long, but remember, no talking once I start.

[Taiki watched carefully (completely unaware of Willow's embarrassment) and nodded staying quiet, he didn't want to break her concentration. He merely shifted to get more comfortable and wrapped his duvet tighter around him]

[He feels the finger brushing, too, and flushes purple just a bit. He feels like a wiggler with his first crush right now, but the anticipation of the magic that's about to start is at the forefront of his mind. He leans forward eagerly]

I'vve been ready my wwhole fuckin' life. Let's get on wwith it.
