Summary: Karkat has been awfully quiet lately, and hasn't quiet been seeking out others. How unusual.

[Karkat has just had too many things on his mind. Staying out of trouble, trying not to make more people furious with him, dodging mealtimes to instead feed Spidermom. The attack on the tower had sated her slightly, but it hadn't helped his psyche any. The visions of Imperial Drones on top of more copies of Spidermom were a little too much for him.

He was still sick to his nutrition sack over the whole thing. If those drones had been real, then he would have been leaving Kanaya to them. What kind of shitty friend was he?

Oh wait. That kind of answered the question. So wherever he happens to be, Karkat will be propped against a wall, staring down at his shoes with an everpresent frown of thought.]

[She smirks, pulling the rubber bands out of her hair.]

How is it less shallow than that?

Maybe I'm just fond enough of the image I'm wearing.

[He glances down at her and raises an eyebrow.]

[She raises her eyebrows back.]

Should you be?

[Shrug.]

[Now she's giggling.]

Jeeez, where did all that confidence go?

[He scoffs and reaches up to poke under her chin.]

It hasn't gone anyplace, Pyrope.

[She pokes at his chest.]

[Nope, he's sticking to his story.]

Methinks the lady doth need to clean those proverbial seer goggles a little more often to avoid false judgment.

[WHAT SHE is cracking up at him STOP]

[Mission accomplished. He will put his hands behind his head smugly and celebrate his accomplishment.]

Do you even listen to yourself?

I love the sound of my voice, so yes, quite often.

[She sticks out her tongue and feigns gagging.]

[He just shakes his head.]

Do you ever listen to yourself?

[She blinks for a second and then...

[Not so graceful recovery.]

[He gives her a bit of a skeptical look.]

Should probably listen more carefully.

[Huff!]

Maybe you should, too.

I'm listening just the right amount, thanks.

[She rolls her eyes.]

Doubt it.

You can doubt all you want.

[He stands to moves off the couch toward the doorway.]

[Stubbornness makes her wait until the very last second, when he reaches the door, until she finally sighs and gives in.]

Jegus, I'm sorry, okay?

[She really wasn't doing it on purpose--it's force of habit.]

[He stops at the apology and considers ignoring it for a moment. But its enough to make him look over his shoulder.]

I wasn't fishing for an apology.

I know that.

[But she figures maybe he deserves one anyway.]

[Karkat turns back around.]

You make it pretty difficult to keep a promise, y'know.

[Hrrrnng. She lowers her gaze and picks at a loose thread on the couch.]
