Format: Anything
Summary: Zo has set up a carnival for the residents, but it's not meant to last. Anyone wandering after the bombs go off might see things they never wanted to see...
Warnings: Psychological and body horror
Note: Characters entering the carnival from the 27th to the 30th will experience visions! Please refer to the info post for details and reply to this thread if your character enters the carnival during these days.

[The carnival has taken up the entirety of the cafeteria. A large roller coaster and ferris wheel tower over the residents, while a child-sized roller coaster, a merry-go-round, and spinning teacups project much less daunting silhouettes. Stands are set up with standard carnival foods available, from ice cream to cotton candy. These stands do not ask for anything as payment.

On the twenty-seventh, the carnival appearance changes. The machinery all appears rusted and broken down, as if weathered with decades of rain and snow. Plants grow up and around the rides, ruining them, and all the food is rotten.]

[Oh god, a carnival! A real, honest-to-god carnival! Amelia has died and gone to heaven.

She knows all about them, obviously, but aside from a few experiences of dinky portable rides set up at school, she'd never been able to go to one. She didn't even know what to hit first.]

[Okay, that wasn't true. She'd come down here to eat, in the first place, so naturally her first target was the food stands. Cotton candy, funnel cakes, popcorn, corn dogs, all part of a nutritious and balanced breakfast. She totally intends to stuff herself until she pukes on whatever ride she does first.]

[For shame, Amelia! Not having a proper breakfast--you'll make yourself sick!]

[...Unlike the man currently munching on a very greasy-looking cheeseburger across the crowd. At least that has a bit of dairy in it!]

[Catching sight of Amelia, Rick flashes a small, puffy-cheeked smile in her direction and waves.]

Amelia smiles when she catches him out of the corner of her eye, waving enthusiastically with her armful of cotton candy.

Also dang, that burger looks good. She trots across the aisle to see if she can get her hands on some of that.]

[He hasn't wandered far from the vendor yet, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem! As she investigates, Rick is at least polite enough to finish scarfing down his current bite of burger before giving a proper greeting.]

This is the greatest. I never got to go to a real carnival before!

...Do they n-not have them w-where you're f-from, or...h-have you just n-never had the ch--chance?

[Rick waits for Amelia to be fully engaged in ordering her own burger when, without really thinking about it, sneaks a hand over her arm to snag a tuft of cotton candy.]

Never got the chance. I didn't exactly get out much when I was-- hey! [Amelia suddenly notices Rick's blatant thievery and smacks his hand away.] I'll bite you.

[bashfulshifter]

[Foiled again! Rick quickly pulls his hand away and goes back to nibbling on his burger as if nothing happened (although the shit-eating grin he's wearing gives him away pretty easily).]

--W-What? I w-was--uh--j-just p-p-pointing out the f-funnel cake s-s-stand, over there. [And he does, indeed, point in that very same direction.] See?

[Amelia leeeaaaans right down into his face.] Don't play that with me, I know your game. I'm not messing around. I will totally bite you.

[Rick flushes pink and...oh my goodness he's pouting, Amelia what have you done]

...Y-You're not very f-fun. [The idea to try and take the cotton candy by force (i.e. tickling) briefly crosses his mind, but he's not terribly eager to get bitten for it, either.] I o-only wanted a l-little bit...

[Wow she was totally just messing with him but now she kinda feels bad. He looks like a puppy.]

Well maybe if you'd asked nicely I woulda given you some.

[Okay, he can play this game. Head down, Rick glances sadly over the rims of his glasses.]

...M-May I p-please have s-some?

[Have a redhead standing nearby, watching you eat with something akin to amazement, Amelia.]

Hungry, or the food that good?

[He's still on the fence, himself, honestly he'd prefer pancakes for breakfast or even a salad.]

[Whoa, she sure can pack it away. The amazement changes to slight fascination.]

Huh, ya see any sandwiches anywhere?

There's burgers and hot dogs. Or barbecue pork sandwiches.

[Sigh. Burgers it is.]

Guess I'll have to settle for one of those. How are ya eating all that without gettin' sick?

[Amelia grins.] I have many skills.

[She's getting the eyeball now.]

Yeah? What else ya got?

I'm pretty awesome at Halo.

It's a video game. But I guess you must be from a different world, huh?

Yeah, probably. I'm not from Earth, if that's what ya mean.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

Well, I'm pretty ace at carnival games too! And I can touch my tongue to my nose. [She demonstrates.]
