[Anise will vehemently deny that she sounds frightened. She's a Fon Master Guardian; she doesn't do frightened. If her voice is shaking it's shaking with worry over the Fon Master being in a place like this, not out of fright at not being able to see much of anything.]
Don't go wandering off without me, okay?
no subject
I wouldn't dream of it.
[He pauses, giving her a moment to catch up and compose herself a bit more fully.]
If we're meant to go somewhere in this place, there's no one else I'd want by my side more.

[Once she's caught up, she links her arm with his - using the faint glows coming from the both of them as a way to measure how she should do it - and flashes him her best and brightest smile. Not that it's really visible down here.]
Because I can protect you from anything.

[Since their smiles can't be so easily seen, Ion squeezes her arm when she has it linked around his own.]
Shall we go then?
[If he could look toward the source of the pull, he would...but as it is, there's no particular sense of direction to be followed. Just an innate sense.]
I'm not sure exactly what may be waiting for us, but I'd rather find out than stand aimlessly in darkness.

[That's good to hear - even if she knows that he has had ample reason to doubt her, even if she knows it would be better for him to doubt her. She takes pride in her skills and it's good that he knows he can rely on her here, at least.]
Yeah, there's no point standing around. [That strange, nagging feeling wouldn't let her just stay still, anyway.] Whatever it is, we can take it, right?
no subject
Yes. And especially with everyone else here. If we all work together, there shouldn't be too much cause for worry.
[As cheerful as Ion is being, of course he isn't fully sold on it, himself. Anything could happen, as they walk. And there was no telling how dangerous. But if he wasn't going to stay positive, who was?]
We're probably going to be walking for a while, in any case. Maybe we should find something to talk about?
[Visual games were out, anyway.]

[Oh, it had been interesting enough at first. But there were only so many times she could eat eggs and tomatoes and carrots before she got thoroughly sick of them. It's not easy to see her expression, but Ion can probably imagine the face she's making.]
Seriously, don't these guys know anything about variety?
[It's not anything deep that they're talking about. But with their surroundings being as creepy as they are, Anise feels prattling on about lighthearted things is the way to go.]

I wouldn't complain. At least it wasn't another month of nutrition bars and oatmeal and water.
[In that respect, at least, it could have been worse.]
This month's menu, if a bit dull, at least has flavor.

[Anise is sulking a little; it's evident in her voice and in the way her shoulders slump, which Ion will feel since they're walking arm-in-arm.]
...when we get out of here, I'm going to make something delicious! You'll help me eat it, right?
no subject
[They could only hope that the menu would be a kind one to work with.]
I'm sure anything you make will be absolutely enviable.
[In fact, he knew. She was trying to trap a rich bachelor with her excellent skills in the kitchen, after all. She couldn't let her skills be outdone by other girls on the prowl.]
