Hammer to Fall
Characters: Fawkes and you!
Setting: Floor Fifteen - Workshop, daytime
Format: Starting in prose, will match.
Summary: Fawkes grows tired of being unarmed, and goes to rectify this.
Warnings: Workin' in a workshop?
Between the various incidents that have gone on since he's been here, Fawkes has determined that this place, like the Capital Wasteland, seems like it will require a more violent approach - especially with the newer residents - namely, the monsters.
Lacking his weapons from home, the best thing to do in a situation like this is improvise.
Fawkes is currently rooting around the workshop for tools and parts he can use to craft a bludgeon of some sort - one of the tables has broken and warped metal bedframe pieces spread upon it.
...kind of a pity that the majority of these tools are sized for smaller hands than Fawkes', but he'll attempt to make do.

Fawkes turns back around briefly to gather a mallet and duct tape, then moves to lay them on the table. He pauses, then glances down toward the girl. "You may wish to move, this could get a bit loud."

"--Oh!" Echidna looked up and quickly shuffled out from under the table, standing on the opposite side of it from Fawkes. "Um, are you...OK and stuff...?"

He starts hammering as he talks, attempting to space the words and hammerstrikes so they don't overlap.

She watched him hammer for a minute, doing as he did and talking in between the hammer strikes. "At least it is not too bad though! You kind of remind me of those one guys from one of the games I played with my friend back home."
no subject
He then returned to hammering, though his pace slowed down when her comment comes up, and his head tilts a bit. "A game?" What kind of person willingly plays a game with super mutants? Cowboys and indians, cops and robbers, sure - but what next, wastelanders and supermutants?
no subject
"It is really fun! The one I played with my friend is about a post-apocalyptic America with radiation and mutants and stuff."
no subject
The hammering slows again when she comments on the topic of the game. "...that sounds rather similar to home."
no subject
"--Oh, really?" And that was even cooler. Though in retrospect, that might be why this guy was some kind of mutant himself. "Do you live in a wasteland too then? Is there some kind of crazy environmentalist movement and fallout shelter societies?"

"--Oh, vaults! That is what they are called!" Echidna was about to go on happily theorizing and comparing the similarities, but she stopped a moment, and frowned. "Oh no, why were they banished? You were from one of them and you still turned into a mutant thing?"
no subject
"Some sort of misunderstanding regarding their father leaving all of a sudden. They did not give me much detail - they seemed to be in quite a hurry to get some work done after we met, and shortly after, I wound up here."
Fawkes nods at the second question. "The vault I was in was apparently responsible for the creation of those like myself."
no subject
At the latter part though, she frowned. "I would have thought the people were supposed to protect people though. Why did you get turned into a mutant?"
no subject
"Apparently the scientists in our vault had other ideas."
no subject
She looked like she wanted to keep asking about stuff but uh...yeah this conversation topic, she was not sure how much fun it was for Fawkes to actually talk about. So she kept her mouth shut for now.

"Roaches make sense, since everyone always says that they'll survive World War 3 or something. Bears are just evil I think. They're like the number 4 threat to human society or something."
Yup.
