[Terezi has spent the entire day scouring the Tower for her Karkat, but to no avail. She hadn't really expected to find him after she discovered his name was no longer on the plaque outside his room, but she'd still hoped, just a little. She has no idea what happens when people disappear from the Tower if their worlds are really destroyed, and so she's more than a little bit worried.

But the other Karkat has a surprise for her! That should be a good distraction, right?]

[She giggles, slipping the ring on her finger and then... Yup, totally launching herself at him. She plants a kiss on his cheek and hugs him tight. Hope you don't like air, Karkat!]

[caliginous]

[URK, LUNGS, HIS LUNGS TEREZI--

He makes a brief choking sound and squirms a bit in an attempt to find some comfort in the sudden tackle he found himself in, all to no real avail.

...but it was the favorable of the two choices, really. So he does his best to turn and support her with both of his arms, only half successful in keeping the blush out of his cheeks.]

So I can take that as a yes?

Of course, stupid.

[She loosens her grip, just enough so that he can actually breathe, and stands on her tiptoes to kiss him properly this time.]

[That's more like it.

Since that day when Terezi had come to him demanding the truth in regards to his behavior, he had been afraid to even touch her for fear of demolishing whatever chance he had left for forgiveness. So when she makes the move, there's no real shyness or holding back from him anymore.

Stinging hands or not, he holds her there as long as his lungs (and, of course, Terezi herself) will allow.]

[She relaxes, sighing contentedly. She's under the impression that he's just been flushed for her this whole time and too much of a wiggler to say it, not really stringing her along.]

You are such a sap.

[caliginous]

I get that a lot.

[He smirks, but its less coy than usual. Its almost impossible for Karkat's smile to be benign, but its certainly less mischievous this time around.]

[scalemate]

[She smirks back, reaching up to try to run a hand through his hair. SHE WILL MANAGE IT SOMEDAY!!!]

Reeeally? Like who?

[caliginous]

[NOT THE HAAAAAAAAAAIR. He tenses in her arms and ducks his head a bit, but he doesn't let go of her.]

Kanaya.

[scalemate]

[She giggles, deciding to spare him for now.]

She's pretty smart!

[caliginous]

I don't know if I'd go that far.

[scalemate]

She got you to confess, didn't she?

[caliginous]

[Pause]

I fucking knew it! You--she set me up. I'm going to wring her neck.

[scalemate]

[She's giggling.]

It wasn't my idea at all! But who caaares?

[caliginous]

[He's mad and indignant, give him a minute.]

[When is he not? She reaches up to poke at his nose. SO HELPFUL. Then she squirms away, taking both of his hands in hers gingerly and tugging him toward one of the couches. Why are they standing when there are a million chairs around, anyway?]

[caliginous]

[He lets himself get dragged grumpily, once again adopting that typical Karkat scowl. But once he sits, it fades a little, because damn these couches were comfortable.]

I can't even believe you two.

[scalemate]

[She scoots close to curl up against him.]

Good! Are you done whining now?

[caliginous]

Maybe.

[He looks like he had more to say or yammer about, but he stops when she curls herself against him.

Yeah, this is fine. He'll shut up for this.]

[scalemate]

[She's silent for a second, then decides maybe it's her turn to complain.]

Hey, Karkat?

[caliginous]

[That's not his arm around her shoulder, its a phantom. Or something.]

What?

[scalemate]

[Yeah okay. Just a ghost.]

What do you think happens to the people who are sent back?

[caliginous]

[...oh. He rubs the back of his head.]

...I don't know. I still don't buy that whole world being destroyed...thing.

[Except even as he says it, his tone drops slightly.]

Well. Not for you, anyway.

[scalemate]

[She frowns. There's... Not much she can say to that. It's pretty obvious his timeline is a doomed one. That doesn't make her feel any better, though.]

Our Veil wasn't much better than yours.

[caliginous]

We don't need to talk about that.

[Which is to say that he's dropping the subject.]

Enough people seem to come and go from different periods and points on their timelines. I ain't a hero of time, but that sounds pretty sketchy to me.
