Summary: Um.... I have no idea where this is going to go.

[Ahri has adapted pretty well to the tower, all things considered. There are floors she's determined to avoid and the computers still confuse the hell out of her, but she's pretty resilient.

This floor is her favorite for obvious reasons. As much as she longs to be human, nature is still very calming to her. She knows exactly how things go here and there aren't many things that confuse or surprise her. At the moment she's sitting under a tree, tails curled up lazily in her tails.]

[wow rude? he'll break eye contact now, to look back at the sky.]

"Friends" are not somethin' thought of as... highly, in my society. They've very little purpose, if any.

[She tilts her head.]

[shortly, and tensing a touch:]

[...Man, now she's starting to feel bad for him.]

[no, not the l-word. don't use the l-word. the l-word is the epitome of his fucking existence, and he hates that. especially when she says it so matter-of-factly, even if she's attempting compassion in some form. his eyes narrow, expression hardening into something unreadable.]

["friends" is never something he considered as a cure for it.]

[WELL, it's too late! She's decided that he's a douchebag because he's never had any friends. Sorry, Dualscar!]

[he's not quite in the mood to make promises he knows he probably won't keep, especially in regards to such to a subject.]

[She can't help but laugh, because he is so ridiculously snobby.]

[he makes a face slightly more patronizing than his usual expression, because gee wiz it's hard to ignore such blatant mocking.

but hey, this is more progress, all right. if it does come to blossom, however, hope ahri doesn't expect much good to come from a friendship with orphaner dualscar.]

[She... Probably doesn't. But hey, she doesn't really have friends anyway!]

Sooo.

[She scoots a bit closer, her smile much more genuine.]

[he doesn't mind it, or rather, pretends not to take notice of it. his eyesbrows knit together, the rise and fall of his chest steady. such a benign demand, but still just that. so perhaps a reminder was in order.]

[strange question. shouldn't it be obvious? but then he's unsure of what the specifics should be, because, well...]

Salty. [ha ha ha ha look he made a joke???] I wouldn't know, I didn't spend much time there. There were -- are -- more important matters to attend to.

[It's a really, really lame joke, and she's not even sure if he meant to make it, but she laughs anyway because at least he's trying? Also because it was stupid.]

[... not sure if genuine laughter... but he's sure he'd rather not add that to his list of things to brood over later, so it passes. because she's not worth it yet, though he will be remunerating over whether she is or not later.]

What does that mean?

It means exactly how it sounds.

[his lip curls, revealing jagged teeth. but then he has to remind himself that this isn't someone from his world, someone he would have surely killed by now if only to make things easier on himself. if only these circumstances permitted.]

The caste system must be upheld, with the lesser bein' treated as such.

[And she's reminding herself that she doesn't know anything about his world or his culture, so maybe she should be a little more open-minded. That doesn't mean she can't steer him away from this subject, at least.]

[She'd probably have a hard time staying up anyway, with all those tails.]

[he can do a topic change, sure. but that doesn't stop the anger from lingering in his voice.]
