Characters : Doc, his dog and you!
Setting: Floor 12 and Everywhere else
Format: Starting with prose but will match
Summary: Doc wakes up and decides to explore the tower. He is astonished by the projection at Floor 12 and he will babble a lot as explores other floors. Oh, and his dog may find you first.
Warnings: Nothing serious. Lots of technobabble. Panic. He may imply you are the reason your homeworld got destroyed if you mention weird things about time travel. And a dog may happily leap at you.
• Floor Twelve
You may have been quietly watching the terrible projection covering the walls of this room. Or maybe you’re not even here yet. Either way, a scream could be heard coming from the staircase. Was it panic, was it horror? Whatever it was, newt thing you know an old man entered the floor, dressed in weird and flashy clothes, and followed by a dog. He stared at the scenery wide-eyed and mouth open.
“Great Scott!!”
He pulled up his silver glasses, quickly drew a weird camera thingie out of his pocket, and then started observing the walls and ceiling with it.
“Unbelievable! It’s as though the very fabric of those universes are ripped apart! Like if life and all matter were sucked in the holes created by the collapse of the space-time continuum, leading to the…!”
He put down the camera upon realizing the meaning of his words. That was worse than anything he had imagined! And it confirmed his fears about the letter. He quickly pulled out a photo from his pocket and stared at it, both with regret and with sadness.
“Marty, what have we done?! What have I done? How could I be so careless? So inconsiderate?!” he sighed “It can’t be undone, can it?”
The dog whined and sat down besides Doc as he stared still at the photo. Finally Doc shook his head, pocketed the photo, and then went back at observing the scenery through his camera. Mumbling weird things probably nobody could understand.
• Everywhere Else
Doc will be exploring the tower, admiring whatever technological prowess he happens to pass by. Odds are that you’ll find him babbling about what he sees, reading a book at the library, peeking into the viewing stations, eating his oatmeal, or even trying to play video games. He’s so absorbed in his thoughts, he may bump into you as he walks through the corridors.
Alternatively, you may find a dog running and stopping right before you. Not a dangerous one though, quite the contrary actually. This dog looks quite happy to have found someone else.

"Doc... what terrible circumstances? What the hell is this place?" Marty gestured at the cafeteria. "Last I remember I was about to go to the future, but this can't be it. Can it?" There was a note of hope in his voice. 1985 was nothing like this, and even the future-future was way different from this. There were hoverboards and holograms and weird designer fashions.
no subject
That would be because there is no hope left. And Doc won't give you any, well, not immediately at least. Hope sequence comes slightly latter.
"No Marty, this is not the future. But it is not the past or the present either!"
This is worst than that, Marty. he doesn't know where to begin the explanations. He grabs Marty by the shoulders and stare at him.
"You've read the letter, haven't you?!"
no subject
Hold on, what was that first part? "Time anomaly?"
no subject
Marty probably doesn't realize it, but he just proved to Doc that they both come from different point in time, even further than he had imagined. Marty didn't meet Doc back in the present, so it had to mean... A Time Paradox, no doubt.
"Yes, time anomaly Marty, and your words just proved it. Last time I saw you I presented you my children, my wife and offered you a picture, and if what you say is true it means you didn't live these events just yet while I did."
He lets go of his shoulders and looks to the side. he looks a little absent when he speaks.
"This further proves that the destruction of the universe as it was described in the letter is correct..."
no subject
That was it. Marty was in a dream. That's right, it had to be a dream.
@remake of the test-drive thread
Which means his family is most like dead, but Doc is confident the tower is a chance for them to fix their mistake. Maybe. He grabs once more Marty's shoulder because, this, is serious shit.
"Yes, destruction of the universe I'm afraid. Our rather, of our universe. Marty, I had told you my fears about time travel and how dangerous it could be, and I was right! When we traveled though time, we caused minor time paradoxes, such as your father standing up against Biff. We fixed the major ones and I assumed the space-time continuum would compensate for the minor ones, but that's not what happened at all! There was no failsafe to compensate with our incessant interactions. Marty, do you understand what I say?"
No need to lie Marty, everyone will understand you if you don't understand. But Doc continues, because Great Scott, that's so terrible!
"All those little inconsistencies in the timeline caused a chain-reaction, invisible to our eyes but very much real! They progressively unraveled the very fabric of the space-time continuum! This was a worst case scenario and I thought it would be localized to our Galaxy, but not at all. The collapse of the space-time continuum took our entire universe along, causing its end!"
no subject
"We destroyed the universe?"
Even Einstein was ignored in favor of just staring at the doc for the moment.
"Doc, that's...... heavy. That's... I don't even know what to say that's so heavy." Cringing, he held his head as if to ward off everything.
no subject
They say first time is a charm."Yes, we did Marty. You and I being here can only mean we were the source of the destruction, through the alteration of the space-time continuum!"
Hand on your shoulder to reassure you.
"There is nothing you could have done to prevent it. Now we should focus on the question of what this tower is, how we ended up here and what its meaning is!"
no subject
Was that even possible? He didn't care. If they messed up they had to fix it, any way they could. His parents and Jennifer were counting on him.
no subject
See, all hope isn't lost. Never-mind the ideas are far-fetched and have very little chance of success without the adequate equipment.
"If we could locate the point in time when the destruction occurred, if we could use the tower to see and calculate solutions, there is a possibility I could build a machine for us to access our space-time continuum at the time of the destruction and fix the problem before it happened. Obviously for this we would need to travel from another space-time continuum where the time factor differ greatly from time as we know it, so that the destruction of our universe didn't happen from their viewpoint."
Easy.
no subject
"Oh. Why didn't ya just say that, Doc?" Maybe Marty was still in a little bit of shock. "I mean... I'm up for whatever needs to be done, but how exactly are we gonna build it?"
no subject
He's not even sure if that's possible, but he'll try.
"I've just started exploring the tower, and it will take a long time, probably years, so you better get comfortable in here."
Sorry Marty. He'd really like it goes faster, but he's no god.
no subject
Even then, he's thinking back to how long it took the Doc to develop the time machine in the first place.
Both hands were on his face now. "Oh man. We're screwed..."
no subject
He tries to look... As reassuring as he can look, alright. Oh and yeah, this second time machine may be new to Marty, oops.
"If you want something, persist and you will always get it Marty! Even if it takes years, I am convinced we will find a solution, restore our homeworlds and go back home."
no subject
Sighing, he flopped down and just shook his head. "I dunno if I can do it, Doc, but I guess we got to try... they're counting on us."
no subject
"If we fix the problem, we'll be back in our universe at the moment we left! Jennifer won't even realize anything happened! You won't either. I assume all of this will be akin to a dream to us once we'll be back! It'll be like if nothing happened!"
Which makes him positively happy.

He smiles, see it's not all that bad.
"Even if it takes years, relatively speaking it'll all amount to a few seconds in our space-time continuum. Now, we best start working on solutions and explore this place."
