[Sitting alone at one of the tables in the cafeteria, a grown man is folding a piece of paper. The entire table he is sitting at is covered with identical sheets of paper.

What on earth is he doing?]

Just a few more folds, and he'll have a hat. So exciting]

[Finally, curiosity gets the better of him.]

What're you doing?

I am making cool hats. The coolest of hats. Cool in hat form, as it were.

[He finishes hat]

Would you like one?

[Shoutarou blinks, then glances around before he removes his fedora, hanging it off his hip.]

Alright.

[It's an odd behavior to say the least, but the oddness is...nice.]

No, no, the red is fine - just didn't know one could make a fedora out of paper. [He takes it and puts it on.]

[Aw yeah.]

One can make anything out of paper if he really tries.

[There's a pause, then he scratches his chin a bit, and when he speaks again, he's quiet.]

...have you noticed that there's no real...private places around here? All the bedrooms are group ones, the showers are communal. Everything is fairly open.

I have, actually. I'm still fuzzy on the why, though. It's a curious thing.

I kind of want to see if they'll do anything if we were to make private areas. Block off an area of the library or something with bookshelves, maybe.

No, no, I got that - but how do we build a fort inside this tower? We don't have the materials, equipment, or manpower.

[Guess who never built a fort as a kid?]

We build it out of sheets! A blanket fort! Like when you were a child.

I...do not recall ever doing such a thing. [He scratches his head.] Do we even have sheets to spare?

And yes, we probably do, there's empty dormitories, after all.

Ah, you've got a point. I guess the sheets would make better barriers than loading enough books into the shelves so they couldn't be seen through...
