[OPEN] Lay down your sweet, weary head...
Characters: Gimli and YOU.
Setting: The Cafeteria.
Format: Action to start, but I'll match you!
Summary: ...nutrition bars. Really, that's all you need to know. Gimli and nutrition bars.
Warnings: None, I think? I'll add if necessary.
[The people in charge of this floor had pretty much shoved the oatmeal at him when he first arrived and... well, it was bland and not particularly exciting, but certainly not the worst he'd ever tasted. But a dwarf is not meant to live off oats and water! A dwarf needs meat! And ale!
And Gimli did not find either in this odd-looking kitchen.
If you wander into the cafeteria, you will find a slightly bemused dwarf in full battle/travel gear, axes and all, staring somewhat unconvinced at the bunch of nutrition bars he was given.]
Tis not Lembas, surely?

Tis not Lembas, surely?

Answers, I can give you. I'll be little help regarding food though. I do have Lembas, in my room, if you prefer it to the food offered here.
no subject
No, no, better save that for when there's nothing left.
[He sighs.]
I suppose the food one might make do with, but the answers... That I'd like to hear.
no subject
[He nods and finds a comfortable seat nearby. This is all better done while sitting.]
What answers do you seek?
no subject
[Gimli sits back down a bit grudgingly.]
I expect these to be the same as anyone else who's found themselves in this Tower. When, how, why, and most importantly, who and should I introduce them to my axe sooner or later?
no subject
The when would be the last moment you remember and the how, it's better to see for yourself. Gandalf showed me it all, and I felt the death of it all. I cannot say why, it seemed a completely senseless death of a world.
I do not know who but whoever it is and whenever you introduce your axe to, my arrows with fly with it.
no subject
So it is true... more's the pity, I would have wanted to see the Kingdom of Men flourish once more.
[He does offer a slight smile.]
I shall keep my axe sharp, then.
no subject
Well, my friend, I can assure you that it does, indeed flourish.
[Legolas nods and smirks.]
You would have let it grow dull?
no subject
[The smirk is returned with ease, though he takes Legolas' words on time to heart, to think about properly later. Later, when he doesn't have a smartmouth elf princeling to school again.]
Give me a mark and I shall let you be the judge of its sharpness.

[It felt good to have one of his closest friends here now. Not better, exactly, but it was nice to have Gimli now.
He stood from his seat and glanced around the cafeteria. There wasn't much choice so he just grabbed a few of the nutritional bars for them for later. Better than nothing, after all.]
no subject
[There's that competitive thrill in his voice, some genuine cheer. He's not stupid, not by a long shot, but he doesn't want to brood on the situation at the moment. And he knows he would, if he sat to think about it right then and there. Instead, he's grateful Legolas is around, to help him keep his chin up.
All will be well, in the end. One way or another.]
no subject
He does stop one floor below it though, making sure they both have their breath before they go on. It wouldn't be a fair competition, after all, if Gimli was out of breath while Legolas has some to spare.]
On this next floor, the sun will not rise and monsters roam it freely.
[He draws his bow and pulls an arrow from his quiver, letting it hang loosely in his hands.]
no subject
Well, if you're done catching your breath we can go in and have us a little contest. Though if I understand correctly, if the sun never rises, then the prey never stops coming, eh?
no subject
[A seemingly arrogant grin, obviously amused as he knocks back an arrow, entering the floor he had lead them to.]
As far as I have seen, they do not stop. Unless we should somehow wipe out everything on this floor. Do you think that you can keep up with me?
no subject
I suppose I could, but it's reckless to stay here for as long as that would take. Perhaps a limit on either time or number of kills?
no subject
Perhaps the first to fifty is victor? That seems a fair enough number and should not tire us too greatly.
no subject
Sounds good to me.
[He grins.]
Have at it, Forest Princeling!
no subject
I feel almost guilty. I've have more time in this place than yourself.
[Already letting a few arrows fly already, finding their mark in the eyes of their quarry.]
no subject
Oh, don't give me that. This has nothing to do with time and everything to do with skill!
no subject
Of course but I've had the time to learn the monsters.
no subject
[And now watch this graceful turn as he slams the axe into a monster's face.]
They're moving, and then you pound them until they're not.
no subject
[Rather than waste more arrows, Legolas draws his short swords and attacks another.]
no subject
[Gimli snorts not unlike a horse about to take on a great effort and sprints in with the double edged axe at the ready.]
no subject
[Legolas is right alongside him, arms snapping outward to stab at a pair of monsters nearby and making a squelching noise.]
