Taiki jumped at the touch but it was Tara, the kind lady from his group, Taiki nodded and then wrapped his arms round her, trembling with tears. It was all too much, would be too much even if he were an ordinary ten year old and not a Kirin who was supposed to exist so that atrocities like this never happened.

"I don't want anyone to die..." He spoke into her side his voice thick with tears.

Sometimes it was nice to find people who would overcome Tara's aversion to physical contact for her.

But not when it was in situations quite as dire as this. Tara lets out a soft gasp, not expecting the hug, but she soon settles into it, running her hand over the back of Taiki's head and making shushing noises.

"None of us do. But, it, i-it's not forever. W-We'll be back in the tower, and, and we can tell everyone what's happening. Th-That's good, right? I mean, they might not even know..."

"They still shouldn't die... even if they come back again, they could... just send them back without killing..." He was still mumbling into her side, still shaking with tears. "It's so cruel... But I hope the others can be warned..." Not that there was much that could be done...
