Setting: Floor 38, morning of the 28th

Summary: He's working at the makeshift lab/food bar on Floor 38.
Warnings: Breaking of the Space Time Continuum.

The pancake batter was getting a little on the thin side, but that didn't deter the teenager as he prepared it for cooking in the automatic pancake maker. Marty tried really hard to stretch out their supplies, and while he was really grateful the power was back on which meant less monsters hanging around (and to be honest he was still a little mystified monsters actually existed, let alone all the other stuff he'd seen since being here) he hoped it meant that the cafeteria was going to come back too.

What was going to happen to the Pancake Stand (as he liked to call it) if that happened? It was fun, if.... different, getting to know the people that came for pancakes and cooking the food they brought. Still, he was getting pretty tired of pancakes.

Giving the machine the last bit of batter, Marty took off his makeshift apron and walked over to flop down on a sofa, a book nicked from the library in hand, while the machine did its work. He'd get to the coffee later, if they even had any left, but it was still pretty early and he didn't expect anyone to show up just yet.

Eh? But... I-I can't take all that! What would you eat?

[Apart from accidentally eating a bit of some butter that turns out to be made from a friend...] I'm doing alright! I arrived here last month.

Don't worry about it, Doc made the machine for everyone to get pancakes. [He smiles. There's definitely plenty stacked up on the machine, even if they're a bit thin.]

Sorry to hear that, last month was pretty bad... I guess it isn't like that, you know, with no lights or food.

Really? That's very nice of him! Well, if you don't mind. I'll take these then. [and accepts the offered pancakes]

What about you? How long have you been here?

Uhh... I forgot. It doesn't really matter though... I think.

[Really, he did. The days started to merge together. He thought it felt like a month but then there was the time before the lights went out too.]

Oh.. is there anyone else from your world here then?

Yeah, a couple of people. I'm from Earth.

[It was a legit statement. There were a lot of different planets around. Hey, now that he thought about it, this meant there really were alien intelligence out there. Boy, would that change a lot of things back home.]

[He giggles a bit at that] I'm from Earth too!

Oh, huh. That's awesome. [He's actually kinda surprised at that because a lot of the people he's met so far wasn't.]

Huh, your English is really good. Your parents teach you or did you learn in school?

[he laughs a bit] I'm actually speaking in Japanese. I believe this place translates everything everyone says into a language that we understand.

I am studying English in school but I'm afraid my spoken English isn't really fluent.

Whoa, that's pretty cool. I didn't know that. So I'm speaking Japanese to you?

Mn! It is! I hope I'll one day be good enough to such a good instantaneous translation programme!

Well, I am hearing you in Japanese just like how you're hearing me in English.

You're seriously hearing me in Japanese? I thought it was really hard, you know... translating that into English.
