Fellowship of Animus | First Council of Sages

Characters: THE FELLOWSHIP OF ANIMUS aka pretty much everyone
Setting: Floor 38, early afternoon - forward-dated to July 29
Format: Party style - pick your poison
Summary: After repeated delays, Zelda and Gandalf have finally called the populace of the Tower to discuss productive means of dealing with their situation.
Warnings: None yet, will edit should something come up

It's taken far too long to get to this point.

Come Sunday, the various couches and armchairs of the uppermost lounge have been arranged in vaguely semi-circle-like patterns, with chairs from other floors scattered amongst them to increase seating even more. The semi-circles face inwards towards a central point to facilitate discussion among a large group of people. Though this is by no means a party, small slices of Lembas bread are available on tables around the perimeter - though there is no shortage of food, the hungry tend to be less cooperative, all the same.

Outside, the sun shines brightly without a cloud to obstruct it, but the atmosphere inside is much less carefree. Considering the purpose of gathering here this day, it's to be expected. Should this council succeed, it may very well change life in the Tower as everyone knows it. If not, well... one should certainly hope individual efforts begin to bear more fruit than they have in the past.

If I may...

[ "Mirenon" finally speaks, after a couple seconds starring at Link with sadness... Poor child, ignored by the adults he trust. Not even for a second will they consider his words. Someone needs to lend him a hand. ]

Whether we wish it or not, we are to live with those enemies. And they will work toward their own goals with or without us. Some of those goals are identical to ours, and sooner or latter our works will clash with theirs. We work toward the same goals and we are on different side.

But it sounds to me as though neither of us will ever reach those goals. We will not and they will not because we are neutralizing each other. Good and evil exist in balance as I have been taught. We cannot simply ignore them or destroy them. I believe this child's idea is worth considering.

[ He looks at the people around but more specifically at Zelda and Darunia. ]

They may backstabs us, but our only other option is perpetual status quo.

[Bleck kept silent until that point. As much as it displeased him to agree, even he knew the value of teamwork among those you would call enemies. Bowser had worked quite well with Peach and Mario after all.]

Only a certain level of trust is required, says Count Bleck. An enemy will always have a skill that either you cannot or will not use. There is always the chance of being betrayed, and plans can be made in preparation for it but it is foolish to disregard the potential of joining together for a specific goal.

[ At least Bleck isn't a hypocrite like Xehanort. He's letting him dealing with Zelda on this matter, for now... ]

If we ally with them, this means we are preparing for war. If we don't, this is war. Neither options are satisfying but one has to be picked for us to progress.

I know nothing of the one you mentioned, but I have known similar people in my homeworld, and I can assure you for nothing I would want to work with them. Or share anything in common with them.

[ Trololol the King of Hyrule. ]

I am lucky that none of them are present in the tower. If they were, I would have to treat of this question on a personal level and my judgement would be affected. But from a neutral viewpoint, I believe an alliance until we overcome the greatest trials and threats is the most beneficial option.

A dangerous gamble that is.

[Midna showed little interest in alliances of any kind. Good or evil. So why did the imp suddenly appear in this room, right in the middle of this debate?]

[Perhaps her interest was in the information.]

The balance is a very delicate one. Once one side leaves itself open, the other will take its chance.

From my experience, only the evil ones behave in such a manner. We are not like them. We are not here to take our chances.

[ Ganondorf is going to need brain bleach after this reunion is over. What the hell is he even saying. ]

Yet we will not allow them to take theirs. If they do, we will be ready. Someone I admired greatly once said you have to keep your friend close, but you have to keep your enemies even closer.
