[Thief of Heart? Pretty much the stupidest title Terezi has ever heard in her entire life. Ever. And there is no way he can make this a decent date. He might have fancy blue blood, but he's still Karkat, right?

That's what happened to Aradia in my timeline.

She probably deserved that more than Pyrope did.

[CASUAL SHRUG -- oh they're at the fourth floor already? Karkat takes a second to blink at the...seemingly floating room.]

[Welp. That wasn't the right thing to say. She yanks her arm away from his. Fancy floating room? What fancy floating room?]

She didn't deserve it at all, actually.

[Blinking at her in confusion ... then slowly realizing what he said and facepalming.]

Not what I meant. Was talking about my Aradia. Who was a highblood on a high-hoofbeast.

[SIDE-EYEING. Okay she can't really pull that off well anymore but she's trying.]

[She heads over to one of the walls and just... Presses her hands and face against the glass, yuuup.]

Can you see the ground?

[SUBCONSCIOUSLY GRABBING HER a second too late after she steps on the glass. well this is now awkward.]

Yeah. And the sky. And a lot of fog.

[...letting go now.]

[She turns to him and grins.]

What does it look like?

[Everything is kind of a blurry, milky mess to her.]

Dark. Foggy. Ominous. Kind of like a stormy night on Alternia, actually.

[just gonna...casually walk around her and toward the middle of the room to get a better look.]

Weird!

[She follows, lifting her chin and sniffing every once in a while. Despite a few random flashes of color, she still can't make much out.]

Why would they have a floor like this, anyway?

I guess to sit around. There's couches and crap too.

[Siiigh.]

Boring! Let's go somewhere else!

[Moving to the wall to put his hand there.]

Pick a floor, your wish is my command.

How about...

[She considers this for a moment.]

Nine!

Door number nine.

[Turning and walking toward the door again to head back up the staircase. He decides against taking her arm again.]

[She follows, reaching for his arm automatically.]

Sooo, tell me more about your timeline!

[No resistance here, but he's a little surprised that she's not still mad at him.]

I don't know, it's looking pretty doomed right now. Sure you wanna hear about that?

[She wrinkles her nose.]

I am pretty sure nothing could have gone as wrong as it did for us.

Dunno. Everyone is about dead except for me, Vriska, Tavros, and Eridan. Eridan may as well be dead, Vriska is useless, and Tavros isn't much better.

[Welp.]

What do you mean, he may as well be dead?

He's too busy jumping around timelines to be doing anything of merit. It's his fucking fault Kanaya's dead, and his fucking fault that Feferi went shithive maggots and murdered everyone.

If he was paying more fucking attention, maybe we wouldn't be dropping like flies.

[Whoops, he's mad.]

[She frowns. There's not much she can say to that.]

And if Tavros fucking gets dragged into this, he'll go crazy and kill the rest of us too. Aradia is fucking off in who the fuck knows where, so I guess its really just me and Vriska with her stupid wings now.

Until she fucks up and tries doing something heroic like the idiot she is.

[He's not bitter, nope. But he's burying his anger and bitterness pretty swiftly after he gets that part of what he has to say out.

Fuck no. He said he would beat this -- and he wasn't going to worry about it here where it didn't matter. He keeps climbing, arm slightly limp in her's, but he's staring up the stairs now where he can see more lighting.]

I stopped counting. What floor are we on?

[Awwwkward. She squeezes his arm because she knows there's nothing she can say to make any of that better. At least in her timeline they were all together again, even if it was just for a little while.]

We're on the seventh floor.

[Aaaaand now he's back to normal. Or at least he is on the outside.]
