[Open] What a lovely day for a picnic~

Characters: Disciple, Dolorosa, and open to anybody!
Setting: Floor Twenty-Five
Format: We're comfortable with any format you decide to put up.
Summary: Dolorosa & Disciple decide they would like a nice time away from it all, so why not have a nice picnic? If you would like something cooked over an open fire, Di will happily cook it for you!
Warnings: Fire and smoke, but only if you are really careless when playing out in the open.

After running to get to this peaceful floor, Disciple happily runs out in the open to floor 25. She falls instantly on the grass and rolls in it as Dolorosa quietly sets up the big blanket and the food. Embarrassed that she wasn't helping out, Disciple gets up and does her fair share by setting up a small fire to cook on.

When done, they both smile at their accomplishment and relax.

Well, he...did hold his own through most floors at night...

"I've had more than enough experience," he says. "Not with the creatures that live here, of course."

"You are a warrior, yourself?"

"I've had experience with hunting, myself, though..." He clearly didn't want to insult her by mistake - she was so obviously proud of her prowess that he'd feel more terrible than usual for it. "I wouldn't be so fast to equate some of the creatures here with game. Especially those who emerge at night."

And, of course, as he spoke, the idea hit him - of course, this woman wasn't human at all, was she? "Ah...is game where trolls come from more dangerous?"

"N-...no, I wasn't insulted!" Enoch was just as quick to try and alleviate the misunderstanding. Or the misunderstanding of a misunderstanding, whichever it was.

"The...mainly the creatures that only emerge at night are the most dangerous ones."

"Ah..." Well, the question hadn't been answered, but she seemed so embarrassed by a little misstep in conversation, so Enoch decided not to bring that up. "I've only fought at night here once. I managed well enough, I think, but some caught me off guard."

I'm sorry! I thought I replied to this!

He handled himself, yes, but far from perfectly. Enoch averted his eyes.

"Not...not always. Whatever might have left scars was erased in death."

Enoch isn't sure he can be called glorious. Or at least, not anymore. He gives her a bit of a sheepish smile as he kneels at the edge of the blanket.

"Thank you. You shouldn't go to any lengths for me." He was, after all, uninvited, on top of feeling he doesn't really deserve the praise.

This was certainly an awkward moment. He felt she was speaking too highly of him, but at the same time, it would be rude of him to refuse the food...

Clearly, the best course of action would be to talk about something else entirely.

"When you called hunting a lifestyle...do you mean it's more to you than a trade?"

Perhaps this wasn't the best change of subject. He should have seen that coming, honestly, but...in his attempt to balance modesty with propriety, it had been overlooked.

"I'm sorry." There was a pause as he let what she said sink in. "'Culling', as with grain? Was...was that the attitude taken in choosing warriors?"

Enoch himself tended to use things like "human decency" when referring to nonhumans, so Di was far from alone in that respect.

"So killing, then...is seen as removing the inferior?" Enoch shook his head. He had quite a tolerance as far as societies finding what worked best for them. But to have such a view of death...

Enoch shook his head. "There are people who may see it that way, but they're despised."

"I won't say there aren't humans who would do evil. But I believe we are for the most part good. That evil won't last, and those who are will serve as a cautionary example for future generations, so that no one makes their choices and humanity betters itself."

....That was certainly a mouthful. He can be wordy if he's passionate.

"Of course, and many try. But there are going to be those who refuse to change and can't be removed."

Especially since he knows that Heaven lends a sparing hand - that the entire point is to find things out for themselves.
