Format: Starting in action, will switch to prose if you'd like!
Summary: After getting beaten up by Ghoul Powder'd Momotaros and subsequently rescued by SS!Link, Zelda's stuck in recovery. She's not exactly thrilled about it.
Warnings: Vague mentions of injuries, nothing too gruesome.


[Well, she supposes only being incapacitated once without actually dying in the process is a pretty good track record for someone who's been in this accursed place over eight months now.

Wander into one of the few non-ruined floors - the infirmary - and you'll find one Princess of Hyrule laid up in bed. She isn't as bad off as she could be (healing magic is something she definitely needs to learn more about), but there are still bandages peeking out under her clothing here and there, bruises where the wrappings don't cover, and even the stubborn Princess herself recognizes that she should probably stay put for a while.

Still, that doesn't mean it isn't horrifically boring. There's a notepad of Fellowship related things at her bedside table - an attempt to get something done when she can't do much else, but even that grows dull and stagnant after a while.

Someone please save the princess from her own boredom.]

That's better. She nods, and, satisfied, places her hand back in her lap.

"And we shall find a way back there someday. It will just take some time, is all."

And this Zelda, at least, has learned the value of patience very well.

He finally looks her back in the eye.

Kind of.

"So...if your name is Zelda...do you know someone named Link? Besides. Me, apparently, since I'm important to your history."

Once again, she nods, and something in her smile grows a little warmer, a little fonder. The more things change...

"I do, yes, and he is here in this Tower, should you ever wish to meet with him. He is a kind and noble soul, who will never hesitate to help someone in need."

"Wait, really?"

Hey Zelda do you know a Link teehee? Yes I do! WHAT REALLY?

"Does he...look like me?"

[sageprincess]

"A bit."

Yeah, she's amused, as evidenced by the way she looks at Hylia's Chosen Hero like one would when critiquing a sculpture or something.

"His hair is a bit brighter in color and parted differently, and his nose and jaw line are sharper. Your eyes are similar, though."

Of course, this is all coming from a girl who knows "her" Link like the back of her hand. Everyone else would probably think you're twins, kid.

"Does that mean he's my descendant too?"

[sageprincess]

"That... I am not so certain on. You are connected somehow, no doubt, but I could not say if it is through blood, spirit, or simply destiny."

[sky_child]

"What do you mean...destiny?"

[sageprincess]

Hm, how to explain.

"Legends have spoken of a Hero rising to save Hyrule should darkness ever fall upon its lands for as long as anyone can remember. And, just as an Evil King rose to threaten Hyrule in my time, so too did the Hero of Time to stop him.

It is... not the most concrete of ideas, but one that is plausible, nonetheless."

And, of course, she could go on about Courage choosing her Link and all, but she doesn't want to break this Link again with Triforce shenanigans.

Trayfurs shenanigans wouldn't break him too much seeing as how he's got all three triangles lit on his right hand. Quite brightly, in fact.

"Oh. I guess I'm caught up in all that, too..."

He sounds a little but uncertain about it. Then again, wasn't there a hero before him, too?

... Yeaaaah, um.

She'll be pointedly staring at that now, wide-eyed.

"You certainly are, it would seem."

Time for the Princess to be the one to have a bit of a brain break.

"...? What...?"

But he notices the direction of her gaze. His hand. He lifts it up to look at it himself, brow furrowed to see the mark of the Triforce shining so brightly.

"They've been there ever since I got the Sacred Flames," he says quietly. "It means I'm..."

The trail-off is deliberate. The Triforce was of such importance, and such secrecy, that not even the most learned scholars of Skyloft knew of its location. It was so secret that Link had to travel all over the Surface just to find a hint of where it might be.

So should he really tell her about it, and his mission regarding it?

Well, considering he's talking to Hyrule's current expert on all things Triforce...

"You wield the complete Triforce, the very essences of the Golden Goddesses." There is nothing short of complete and utter awe in her voice and expression. The last time she thought one could even touch the Golden Triangles without them breaking apart, she was but a child, naive and foolish. To see someone in possession of all three pieces... the only way she'd be more astonished is if one of the Goddesses themselves were standing before her.

"For eons, men have warred over that mythical sacred power, to think I have witnessed even a hint of its true form..."

Sorry, she's just having a brief moment of religious wonder. Give her a minute to recover while she places her hand over her mouth and chin, her Wisdom shining in response.

"I don't...know where the Triforce is..."

"You... do not?"

What.

"But your hand...?"

[sky_child]

"Hyldia...Zeld...Hy... She told me it meant I was worthy of claiming the Triforce. I... Before I came here, I was looking for clues for where it was."

[sageprincess]

"Oh."

Well, that's slightly disappointing. But ultimately probably a good thing, given Ganondorf's in the Tower as well.

"I see... My apologies, I... must have sounded a bit odd, there."

Eheh... oh, Goddesses, why...

He rubs the back of his head nervously. "No, ah, I... Do people...usually have the Triforce, if they have the mark on their hands?"

He's kinda new to this Triforce thing k?

"... In a sense."

She hesitates for a moment, but eventually brings her hand up again, displaying her own mark.

"I have only ever heard of people possessing one piece at a time, however. Never the entirety of it."

[sky_child]

...huh.

He looks like he wants to speak, but the words aren't coming. He's supposed to get all the pieces, but she says that people have only possessed one piece at a time...

"...so are they supposed to be used one piece at a time? Is that it?"

[sageprincess]

"Not... exactly."

She sighs, her hand falling back into her lap. It... isn't the easiest thing to talk about, given how exactly the Triforce came to be the way it is in her time, but, well...

"Indulge me for a moment, and shall tell you a secret legend of the Triforce, passed down by the shadow folk, the Sheikah. I believe it will explain things better than I."

Something in her posture changes then, pulling herself up a little straighter, and her tone changes to a more formal one, as though she is reciting something she has practiced time and time again. Normally, she would never indulge such secrets unnecessarily, but this boy is clearly intricately connected with the Triforce somehow, as well as being a part of her history.

"If you would seek the sacred triangle, listen well... The resting place of the sacred triangle, the Sacred Realm, is a mirror that reflects what is in the heart - the heart of one who enters it. If an evil heart, the Realm will become full of evil; if pure, the Realm will become a paradise.

The Triforce - the sacred triangle - is a balance that weighs three forces: Power, Wisdom and Courage. If the heart of the one who holds the sacred triangle has all three forces in balance, that one will gain the True Force to govern all. But, if that one's heart is not in balance, the Triforce will separate into three parts: Power, Wisdom and Courage.

Only one part will remain for the one who touched the Triforce... the part representing the force that one most believes in. If one seeks the True Force, one must acquire the two lost parts. Those two parts will be held within others chosen by destiny, who will bear the Triforce mark on the backs of their hands."

[sky_child]

It takes him a few moments before he's able to speak again.

"It's never...been used...at once? All of it? No one...no one has ever had all pieces? No one's ever been worthy of claiming them at once?"

It's not that he's scared he won't be able to use it. He heard her story. Every word.

But, in the silence, other words came to mind:

During your long journey, you've grown so much. You nearned wisdom from solving devious puzzles and traps. You gained power by honing and tempering both yourself and yoru sword. And by overcoming the trials set before you by the goddess, you've found true courage. Now that those qualities reside in you, you are worthy of wielding the power the gods left behind for our kind. You can claim the Triforce.

Is he truly...?

... And there's that small voice again, the one that tells her she messed up in explaining somewhere. Goddesses, when did this become so difficult.

"In my time, the Triforce had many defenses placed before it - defenses that date before the foundation of Hyrule itself. If it has ever been used in its entirety, the records of it have been lost in time."

There's a sympathetic look here; she may not understand his quest, but she can understand the pressures of dealing with the relics of the gods.

"My apologies, that... likely was not the answer you wished to hear."

"No, I...I..."

He looks down to his hand, still shining brightly.

"...Zelda told me that I...because I had passed the trials of the goddesses, that I...I could claim the Triforce."

He's not upset by what she said.

He's just scared.

He's only a boy. Only 17, and worthy of claiming a great force in its entirety.

All he wanted to do the day of the Wing Ceremony was win and meet Zelda for the ritual. He never asked to become like a god.

[sageprincess]

"... You bear the burden of a great destiny. One unkind and unfair and one you likely had never dreamed of before it was right in front of you. It is understandable and natural to be intimidated by such a great task."

Though no older than him, her voice carries the weight of grave experience behind it, and really, she could be talking about several people right now.

"But... it is not one you cannot handle, I believe. Not if you are anything like your successors."
