[001] Intro Post - Open~

Characters: Mary Magdalene and anyone she meets
Setting: Dorm room, halls, wherever else Mary wanders; mid-morning
Format: Prose to start but I'll switch to bracket spam if anyone prefers that
Summary: Panic, lots of it. Mary wakes up to find that her world is gone (which is pretty much her entire universe because she exists like... everywhere, thanks KOS-MOS/T-elos) and that she failed in her purpose to protect it.
Warnings: None, Mary's a good girl. Might have swearing, depending on who she meets, but it won't be from her.

The letters that she'd found had giving her reason to cry. And cry she did, dropped to her knees and wrapping her arms tightly around her knees for a good long time. Did that mean that Shion was gone? Yeshua? What about all her friends? Was she alone now? Mary didn't want to be alone, she couldn't stand being alone. It was why she had traveled with the Messiah, Yeshua and their followers. It was a group of people, all joined together with one purpose in mind.

And they were all gone. Were their souls gone too? Or did they safely migrate elsewhere? Souls were forever, even if they had fallen to pieces and spread throughout the UMN. Eventually, they could be pieces together and a person reborn. It had happened to her, in a way, when her soul had been attached to KOS-MOS and when her body was used to create T-elos.

Another sob wracked her body but she finally got up from the floors and wiped at her eyes. They were puffy and pink from crying but she didn't honestly care. In her time, appearance wasn't important only the way you behaved around people and treated them. With a deep breath to try to center herself, Mary stepped out into the hall with the letters clutched tightly in hand as if to give herself courage.

Naminé was watching carefully and noticed that relief. It surprised her, at least until she heard the explanation. That made her smile soften a little. She nodded, then turned suddenly to move past Mary and open the door, intending to make good on what she'd agreed to. Despite her attempts to be welcoming, Naminé was not exactly the most familiar with manners... like explaining oneself before suddenly walking off. It wasn't very far, but still.

She did, however, at least wait by the door, and at that point she asked what she'd begun to wonder. "Why?" It was an unabashedly but unoffensively spoken question.

"Taken away?" It was a reflex to ask; she'd seen that discomfort, but her curiosity had gotten the better of her, if only for a moment. The smile had disappeared almost immediately, and stayed gone, its place usurped by a frown. She could definitely understand not wanting to be alone -- that was why she'd been so curious in the first place. More and more, she was realizing that she had a lot more in common with many of the people here than she'd imagined.

"Oh." If only she hadn't asked. Despite the apparently 'happy ending' (more or less), she couldn't help shifting uncomfortably and turning her frown to the floor. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked." Admittedly, she was curious about why it happened, and who, exactly, this 'Wilhelm' was, but she refrained from asking this time around, having at least temporarily learned her lesson.

"...That's... probably a good way of thinking about things." At the very least, good for one's peace of mind. Naminé had her own things to regret, but in her case... she wasn't sure she could ever let it go, or at least forget, or that she should. After all, if she bore that shame for the rest of her existence, it would at least serve to deter her from making the same mistakes again.

"--It's alright, it was my fault, too. It's nice to meet you, Mary. My name is Naminé." Taking a cue from that cheerfulness, she smiled back.
