Summary: So the Shadow Event was Hell (haha), a few of them grabbed some booze from various sources(?!), so iiiiiiit's PARTY TIME~
Warnings: Somehow srs discussions in one thread and underage drinking in others? I don't even know, man.

So the last seven days had been a misty hell in the tower surrounded by fog... literally.

Sure, this was likely the normal aside from the fog... but that didn't mean that the residents didn't need some time to blow off some steam every now and then, and for the Persona users? It had been extremely rough on them with all the Shadows manifesting. That also included their own. Especially included their own in some cases (ow, Naoya...).

It didn't take much, just a small filtered ~~and handwaved~~ message to the other Persona users that Yu knew from either running into them in the battle for everyone's sanity in the past week or before then. "Bring what you can get your hands on," he said, but to the leaders there was also "we need to talk." Because there had been a long period of time where they hadn't spoken as a group... and after bribing Strega with a few rounds of Halo and possible drinking games if they could get their hands on some booze, he'd headed back up to the media floor...

There were no fancy decorations, but he had picked up what was disrupted from the fighting and cleaned like whoa. Everything was set up with whatever few snacks he'd saved in his trunk from the previous month.

... Man, I miss having a proper connection to outside sources. It was a lot easier for us back home. We knew EVERYTHING.

[ And only one Minato doesn't wear a SEES armband most of the time. His other self had a tendency not to wear certain things like he did, after all. Plus the collar color (yellow) gave it away as him not being the Arisato that was Yu's roomie.

There's a slight pause. ]

So... how are you? After... all of what happened. It's been crazy.

[ Really crazy. That's Minatoese for "um I am sorry I was stupid." ]

It's all a matter of making new ones, it seems.

[Yeah, he figured it out as soon as he turned around. Luckily he isn't wasted yet? Perfect timing for serious discussions, at least... like how this was turning out to be.]

...Yeah. It has been, hasn't it? [Yuese for "what's a few stupid moments between friends?"] Oddly enough... better than before the fog fell. You, Arisato?

["I'm sorry for losing sight of everything else."]

[ He shrugs, which is basically Minato for "I'm okay, I think."

He can read body language pretty well. He hangs out with Chidori, after all, and is kind of a quiet person himself, usually. ]

... I've... been thinking about something.

[ WOW AMAZING HE THINKS WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED ]

[Yu pauses, before nodding slightly. "I'm here if you need me."

Still, he tilts his head to the side slightly when he hears that. He's so surprised- no, really. This is a big step compared to before suddenly FOG.]

What is it?

[ ... Okay, here goes his stupid idea number one. ]

Your Persona knows a Goddess. I... I'm just wondering, have you ever asked her about how Personas evolve or work, exactly?

[ He... needs to know something, he thinks... he's got a lot of questions nagging him he can't answer on his own. ]

...Not directly, no. Though I already have seen how Personas evolve - they change with their users.

['I'll ask the next time I speak with her.']

[ He has to know. Ever since he spoke with Philemon, it's been bothering him. ]

... Naoya's Shadow gave us something.

[ He's not sure why... ]

And... during that fight, something weird happened. But I'm not sure if I really had time to process it since everything going on was chaotic.

I remember.

[It was kind of hard not to remember, to be honest? He still has that item on him, too... like he does with a few things he collected on his journey. No idea why, either...]

[> Something in Yu's voice may hint that he may have had a similar experience...]

[ How to put this without sounding crazy...? ... Wait, he's a Persona user, never mind. Might as well just say it. ]

... Do you know anything about Greek mythology?

[ He swears he has a point here, it's just hard to explain, kind of, without... explaining this first? ]

I know a little, but I'm no expert on Greek lore.

[Dude he ended up pouring over Shinto mythology after Izanagi first awakened... did not get to Greek yet except the Reader's Digest version.]

[ Well, he did something similar only he basically took every mythology he could get his hands on and read about it. ... He had the free time, honestly. No school. It was a means of distraction for a long time and a way to better understand their situation.

He looks a little... like he feels odd about talking about this, but... Minato still does it anyway. It's a sign that he's finally willing to let Yu talk to him and open up properly, anyway. ]

... All right, I'll explain a bit. The sort of condensed version because I am not making either of us go find some books on mythology.

[ Especially not right now. ]

In Greek mythology things basically kind of started with actual personifications of literal things. Like, they were Gods, but... they didn't represent things, they WERE those things. Nyx was Night, and also sort of the Goddess of all Life, Erebos was Chaos or the void, or Darkness--somehow it had children with Nyx which was apparently a girl, don't ask; I didn't exactly write this.

[ And here he makes a flippant gesture as if to say, "ehh, mythology shenanigans." ]

Anyway, Nyx had a lot of sons and daughters. Hemera or Daytime, Moros or Doom (that's Jin's guy, the Forecaster of people's fates and when they'd die and stuff), the Fates (I think you know them?), Nemesis or Retribution, and a boatload of others, like Deception, Blame, Strife, Old Age, Eros or Love, all that stuff. Mind you all of these came before Zeus and all of those guys, but they did work in unison. The important thing is that Nyx was kind of everyone's mother and her eldest sons were two twin brothers, Thanatos and Hypnos. Thanatos was Death and Hypnos was Sleep.

[ And he has to pause to remember the former of the two twins being Takaya's Persona... Hypnos. How horribly fitting, somehow. ]

Makes sense, right? Two sides of the same thing. But there's a lot of weird confusing stuff written about them. Some authors said that Thanatos really, REALLY hated humans, and... well, everyone else. I mean, there's literally one quote that says he hates even the Gods who can't die. What was it... " He was pitiless as bronze with a heart of iron", or... something like that was the quote, I think. If I remember right, it was basically that Hypnos had a merry old time and humans loved him and Thanatos had an awful time and humans and even the Gods who couldn't die hated his guts for no really good reason.

[ HE SWEARS HE HAS A POINT HERE JUST BEAR WITH HIM IT HAS TO MAKE SENSE FIRST? ]

[He listens patiently, nodding at the point where the fates were concerned. Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos, Norn... He'd had all four of them in his head at one point or another. Actually, it's kind of rather odd with how he responds to this; he literally can't tear his attention from this discussion for a moment since it appears that he has a fascination with mythologies as well.

...He really can't help but raise an eyebrow at that, however. After all, he knew Ryoji's Thanatos was anything but. Different worlds, though... and he knew the myth of Izanagi and Izanami was inaccurate as well.

[ Here, he kind of rubs the back of his neck.

... Haha, old habits die hard. Old scars don't leave. ... Then again, once you've been tramp stamped by a taken over corporation full of insane scientists and you relate it to your Persona, it's hard not to think about it. ]

Basically Thanatos had an awful job and I guess he really, really hated it. Or... being it. Or both? Whatever that is, anyway. At least, that's what the original myths said. Later on they started going, "hey, maybe this Death guy just has a really shitty job and I think he might actually be kind of cool and also has wings or something let's give him BUTTERFLIES, that'll be cool!"

So I think they began saying he was a more peaceful Death and he started becoming nicer, maybe because people wanted the idea of being closer to something/someone as a God that was, you know, going to deliver them to Hades NICELY and not just... sort of be a jerk about it?

[ Pausing. Yeah, this is weird to explain because... well, he's IN in his head. ]

Hades kind of just reigns over the spirits and relaxes in Hell or whatever, and I guess Thanatos got stuck with doing the actual... you know, reaping part. Then we've got Tartarus, which is below even the underworld, it's like the... under-underworld? Which is where Thanatos and all of them live.

[ Now, finally to his point, he frowns slightly, finally settling on a small sigh. ]

... From my experience he's not really as nice a guy as people keep saying in the newer mythologies. It seems to really be wishful thinking--the whole "pitiless as bronze with a heart of iron" thing is... pretty accurate. He actually really, really seems to enjoy it when humans are suffering, since he hates them and really everyone ELSE so much. I think... I dunno, maybe how he was treated made him bitter? I'm not... really sure, he's always been really temperamental for me.

And coy. He doesn't like telling me much stuff if he isn't busy trying to choke the life out of me just because he's having a bad day.

[He thinks about it for a moment, sighing. He understands well enough that Minato is trying to find out the truth behind the one that was shoved in his head. It was painfully obvious, really. Unfortunately, that truth seems to be out of their reach for the moment.]

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised either way... but if there's anything I learned from the one in my head, it's that those who recorded the myths weren't 100% accurate. Even if some points are accurate.

I'm not sure about what Toutou's shadow meant, and I'm not sure if which interpretation--if not both of them--is right, but I'll help any way I can.

[Even if it ends up being a headache for the both of them... oops?]
