Summary: Set immediately after this thread. Ed and Sollux have parted ways and he'd really like to know more about where he is. :|b
Warnings: Ed's mouth. That's about it for now.

Ed and Sollux had parted ways and he, for one, wasn't complaining. He had more important things to do. Things like finding out if this letter was for real. Somewhere in this tower he would find what he was looking for. I mean, Amestris couldn't be gone... right?

[he nods]

Yeah. I woke up a couple hours ago.

I see. It seemed like it. [She offers a tiny smile, tilting her head just slightly. This is probably her attempt at being friendly, or at least helpful.] So, what did you want to ask?

[aww thanks.]

Anything you can tell me about this tower would be appreciated.

Hm.... [Her eyes drift down to her hands as she tries to work this out.] I'm not sure where to start. Well... I guess the first thing would be about the letters. Did you read them?

[his face falls. that's a yes.]

Y-yeah. Still kind of hard to believe.

[Hers does too, although not as far.] It is. ...The truth is, a lot of people don't believe it.

I'm not sure that I do either. I... I know someone who decided that he wasn't going to accept it until he figured everything out for himself, and... I agree. The people and worlds left behind are too important to let go of for anything less.

[That actually gets something of a smile out of him. Whoever that is, I like the way he thinks.

I'm not ready to accept it either.

[Nod.] I'm not sure it's for the best, but I hope it is.

There are some other things you should know. This tower has a lot of floors. I'm not sure how many you've seen...?

A few. I'm just working my way down the tower.

I see. You'll probably want to explore for yourself, but... be careful. Some of them are dangerous. There's also an infirmary on the second floor and a cafeteria on the bottom floor. The good news is that here, if something happens to you and you... die, you come back. [She pauses there because she's well aware that this part is kind of a bit to take in.]

... Wanna run that by me again?

If you die here, you come back. [She is totally straight-faced.]

You're serious, aren't you? How... how is that possible?

[She nods.] I don't know either, but it's the truth.

You've seen it happen?

...No. [She admits this with only the slightest bit of embarrassment.] But I know of two people who were-- who... had it happen to them. One of them... I know he wouldn't lie about something like that.

[he nods. he doesn't believe it yet, but he's pretty sure she, at the very least, isn't lying.]

I'll just have to take your word for it.

[She smiles her thanks, a little wryly.] ...It's not just the floors that are dangerous. A while ago, there was a blackout, and during the time the lights were out, there were ghosts in the tower. They looked like the people who were left behind, but-- they were trying to hurt everyone.

[Ed never bought into any of that supernatural stuff. Everything had a logical, scientific explanation and he refused to accept anything as "truth" if there was no solid evidence for it. Even now, despite all he's seen and heard so far, he couldn't believe that.</small] You realize how stupid that sounds, right?

[There's a pause while she considers his question.] I... guess it does. Most people haven't seen proof of things like that, have they? [Fortunately she's seen plenty of proof of enough supernatural stuff to know better, especially considering that she's fairly supernatural herself.]

If by most people you mean everyone then yeah. There's never been a solid piece of evidence proving their existence. There's always a logical explanation for crap like that.

...Couldn't there be a logical explanation for ghosts? Or at least, things that looked like ghosts?

By definition, there's no logical explanation.

Oh. Alright. If you say so.

Look, I'm not saying it never happened, but I really doubt they were ghosts.
