Summary: Set immediately after this thread. Ed and Sollux have parted ways and he'd really like to know more about where he is. :|b
Warnings: Ed's mouth. That's about it for now.

Ed and Sollux had parted ways and he, for one, wasn't complaining. He had more important things to do. Things like finding out if this letter was for real. Somewhere in this tower he would find what he was looking for. I mean, Amestris couldn't be gone... right?

Fawkes nods at the boy. "Do not worry yourself over it." One big ol' hand sticks out for a handshake. "I am Fawkes! It is nice to meet you, Ed."

Ed holds out his left hand and it is completely swallowed up by this... well he wasn't sure if it could be called a handshake. Considering this guy was more than twice his height he shouldn't have been surprised, but it still made him feel like a two year old.

"Thanks. Nice to meet you, too," he pulled his hand back, stuffing them both in his pockets. "Gotta say, I wasn't really expecting such a civil greeting." Tact. He has it. All of the tact.

Don't worry, Ed. Fawkes comes from a world where the usual greeting is either being shot at, or having a gun aimed at you and being yelled at.

"Well, you are new, and thus unfamiliar with me! While it is an understandable reaction, do remember to not judge things--and people, by their appearances. I may be rather scary-looking, but I mean no harm."

"I try not to, but I'll make sure to keep it in mind."

A small smile pulls at his lips. "Eh, I've seen scarier." And that wasn't even a lie.

Fawkes laughs a bit. "As have I! Though, I do hope to not see them again. Science is sadly capable of terrible, terrible things."

"Yeah, you and me both." For instance, he never wants to see the inside of Gluttony's broken Gate stomach ever. again. EVER. "That's true, but it does a lot of good, too. Science isn't inherently at fault. If I've learned anything it's that people are capable of terrible things when they think they can use science to play God."

"That is quite true as well - before I came here, a friend of mine and I were in the process of restoring a water purifier for the area we reside in so that the people of the wasteland can have clean water. Hopefully, I might get back soon to finish that up..."

"How long has it been since you've had clean water there?"

"I believe it's been around in small amounts here and there, thanks to small-scale water purifiers, but this one had an enormous output, compared to any of those! It would fill what was practically an entire lake from what my friend told me."
