So that last week had been hell, and they really should have seen it coming, but it's as they all say...

It was just another Tuesday in Tower What The Helsinki is Going On Here.

Unlike the private party, there are definitely plenty of decorations courtesy of the Amagi Inn heiress, and plenty of food thanks to those who offered to hunt for the event and the ones who could prepare what was caught and gathered. Really, everything's set. Even some alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were clearly labeled (so please, don't spike the normal punch. There are kids here!).

So why was this all set up? Why, because they had succeeded in pissing in Jason's cornflakes and got him maaaaad figuring out the cure for the madness of the previous week with the clues that had been given. But wait, was there a birthday or two this month that had otherwise gone unnoticed? Well, why not celebrate them while celebrating their hard-earned victory? There's cards on a table for people to write down the lucky people who survived another year of this craziness, just waiting for well wishes (or not so, depending on if you like them or not).

I see... [She sighs. It's not really a mood-ruiner, considering how it's been on her mind so much lately, so she doesn't look that upset.] Ask away, then.

[Saber paused a moment, her gaze moving over the other party guests until those passing nearby had moved on, as she mulled over how to phrase things. When she spoke, her voice had lowered some to keep her words from carrying.]

I have heard that those who meet death within the Tower do not stay dead. Do you know if this is true?

[Not what Ruler thought she was going to hear, right?]

[... No, not what she was expecting at all. She was expecting something relating to Lancer's actions, perhaps something he might have said in the later days when their memories began mixing... but not this.

... She does have the answer, though. She still remembers killing Ryuunosuke vividly, remembered him dying in her arms... but then he also took to the network not too long ago, didn't he?]

Yes... it is. [She keeps her voice low as well. No need to worry those around them.] I don't have the slightest idea of how the process works, unfortunately, but I know for sure that such a rumor is true.

Hmm... [Another slight pause as Saber thinks.] Do you believe the same applies to our kind as well?

...at least until the Grail decides to claim us upon defeat.

[... A bit suspicious, isn't this? But if there's a conflict between Servants going on, it's not in Jeanne's place to put a stop to it. She'll only do so if innocent people get caught in the crossfire.]

Hm, a good question. The administrators work in very mysterious ways, from what I have been able to gather... if they have the great power to bring a person back from the dead, than I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume that they must have some way to stop us from returning to the Throne of Heroes upon our death.

[There is a logic there, even if Saber was excluded from the Throne of Heroes. Again, the knight is silent, choosing her next words carefully.]

While the Hound was in possession of your body... there was a time when he could not always recall who he was and warred with memories of what I presume to be your living life. It was... pitiable to witness.

[A pregnant pause.]

I had offered to put him out of his misery.

[faithstaynight]

[She frowns at that. Despite her frustration and despise of Lancer at the moment... there are limits to how angry she can feel.]

I... would not have blamed you, if you followed through with such a thing. I may not like that man, after finding out what he did in my body, but... nobody deserves to suffer like that. The temporary loss of my body would have been an acceptable one if it meant that you were able to aid him.

I had thought that may be the case, but he chose to endure. Speaking of wishing death upon oneself as sinful.

Had he been physically before me at the time, I may not have given him the choice.

[faithstaynight]

[That is true... wishing for one's death and accepting ones death are two different things, and are received in vastly different ways.]

It is admirable that he did not wish to end his life in such a way, but... given that death is not a permanent issue here, that may have helped him more than hindered him. I wouldn't know.

[It also begs the question of what would happen to her if her body was destroyed... but her priority was never on herself. Like she said, she could deal with some bad side-effects if it meant helping someone, even if that someone isn't a person she likes.]

Regardless, know that should such an unfortunate turn of events occur again, unless you tell me otherwise, I will not offer.

I will just end it.

[faithstaynight]

I thank you for informing me of this, Saber. But... rest assured, if you are killing out of mercy, if there was no other option, than I will not stop you. I may not ever do such a thing myself, but I acknowledge that... sometimes, it is the only option.

[She's seen enough soldiers mortally wounded on the battlefield begging for death. Putting an end to their suffering was much better than prolonging it, she's been told.]

[She nods. It's not always going to be out of mercy, but it will be the best thing should she decide to use her blade.]

Then that is settled. My apologies if the topic has ruined your evening.

[She shakes her head, managing to smile.] Do not worry about such things. I am glad you brought this up now, rather than let it sit. It makes it easier to move past this whole mess.

{Saber raises her eyebrow again.] Do you forgive him?

[faithstaynight]

No. [Said very, very flatly.] I will never forgive him for his foul antics. Even so, I wish to forget about it as much as I possibly can.

And here I thought forgiveness was a Christian virtue.

[faithstaynight]

I would like to forgive him, believe me. But what he did... he crossed a line that should not have been crossed. He took something I had to fight to keep and soiled it in mere days.

[Pause.] Ah, but how did you know about my faith...? [Oh no, just what was he saying in her body???]

When he sought out the Cathedral and spoke of sin and God in his panicked state when he could not sort out what was him and what was you, your faith was easy to deduce. Christianity is not unknown to me.

[Christianity had made its way into Britain during her reign.]

I see... [She can't help but sigh in relief.] My apologies, I did not mean to seem suspicious of you. I was just unsure of what he might have said in such a state, if anything could have given certain things away...

I do not believe the Hound would be so dishonorable as to give your true identity away.

[faithstaynight]

But when caught in the harsh grip of such a crisis, it might be difficult to make sure such a thing does not slip. He was struggling with separating his identity from mine, after all.

I would be angry at first, but on a more rational note, I... would not have blamed him, if it had slipped. It would have been incredibly frustrating, yes, but it would not have been entirely his fault.

At some point, we all give our true identity away. The question is whether it will harm or help us after the fact.

[faithstaynight]

Mm, true... [She falls silent for a moment, contemplating this.] I honestly can't say which it would be for me, should the time come for me to reveal my name.

No doubt the Hound knows yours and you his. [Which means Ruler should be able to deduce that Saber calling Lancer 'the Hound' means she also knows his true name.]

Have you seen the other Lancer by chance?
