Hey Doc. [Marty shifted in his seat to get a better look at his friend.]

It was October when we left home, and now it's October again. It's kinda messing me up, so I thought maybe figuring things out in Tower Time would help.

Tower time?

[ Perfect, Marty finally takes a serious interest in time travel business!! ]

It's simple enough, do you need help?

Nah, I got it, Doc. Just studying up on stuff... I figured if I tried I might be able to help you with that new machine.

[Aww he's trying to be useful.]

That's great Marty! Of course I'll need your help, you're my assistant-- And I believe you're the one who will have to drive the time machine once it'll be completed. You've got the experience and I can't trust anyone else with it!

[ A tap on your shoulder, you are always useful Marty. ]

Yeah but... I mean like going to college, studying things type stuff.

[Marty shakes his head a moment.]

Dammit, Doc, I want to know this stuff. I want to be able to wake up one day and go 'Eureka!' or something and figure out how to bring everyone back.

Marty, give it time!

[ He grabs you by the shoulders, sorry. ]

You'll get to go to college when this all will be over! And who knows, maybe someday you will wake up with the answers! I spent my life making inventions that didn't work as well as I would have liked Marty, the flux converter occurred to me suddenly after years of trying! Simply because I hit my head!

trust me Marty, as long as you keep your dreams and hopes, this will happen!

Doc... I...

[He's tearing up just a little bit.]

I need something. I need something to do, just to feel like I'm getting closer to an answer.

[ O-Oh... DOC DOES NOT KNOW how to react. Well yes he knows. He places a hand on Marty's shoulder before hugging him- Shortly, remember that Doc is awkward at hugs. ]

Great Scott! Marty! I had not realized this tower had weighed down on you that much on you, I am so sorry!

If I manage to build a new time vehicle, I'll need someone to drive it back to the past so we can prevent this whole situation, and you are the only one I can count on for that Marty! We are closer to the answers than you think.

[ He pauses and look at him. ]

In the meantime I need help with the lab. I didn't want to overwhelm you so I didn't ask, but I would be more than happy if you would get more involved.

Marty nods, still struggling a bit with trying not to cry. Heh, how dumb would that look?]

Yeah, I'll help out, Doc... I mean I don't got anything better to do.

Of course I will be glad to have your help! But there are other things for you to do here Marty if that's what you want. You are still young, you have much more possibilities open to you than I do.
