haha I never put log titles unless it's idiots abound part whatever

Characters: Waver and open
Setting: Room 1-16/hallways, floors 45, 19, 14
Format: Starting with action but I can match
Summary: 7am waking up in the morning gotta explore the tower
Rating: Uhhhh should be pretty PG
Warnings: Nothing really...

Room 1-16 / hallway

[As soon as Waver is able to move, he jumps up from the bed, desperately looking around. He's also sure to check his right hand, but as there's nothing there, he quickly sees the last few days of calm weren't anything like a dream.

After noticing the letters and reading them over twice, he sets them aside. What's written there can't possibly be true, nothing could destroy the entire world so suddenly. Knowing that is a relief, but, he's still trapped somewhere unfamiliar. He quickly finds his trunk and the contents, swapping that awful bodysuit for a good sensible set of clothes immediately. ...And, underneath those, a book. He bends down to pick it up and turns it over to read the title. The Iliad, that same new but worn out copy. After thinking on it for a moment, he goes back to his bed and sets it under the pillow. That's what Alexander was said to have done, after all, right?]

Floor 45

[An observatory, that's perfect! He can get a good look at what lies outside the tower, maybe even spot where there might be somewhere to get outside. He stands up against the window, placing his hands on it to steady himself as he tries to look out.

He sighs.]

Nothing but clouds, huh...that's useless...

[As he begins to look up again, he shouts, falling backwards and trying to scramble away from the creature which had been face-to-face with him. Even though he was only just pressed up against the glass himself, he's completely forgotten it's there between them and can only stare in horror at the thing staring straight back at him.]

Floor 19

[After exploring the tower, Waver returns to the library. He wants to get through as much as he can right away, but with the size of the library, and there being two, even he knows it will have to be done over a period of time, not all in one sitting. Even so, he goes down the aisles, scanning for anything that looks like like it might contain relevant information. Anything which might give a better understanding of the tower and its intents. If he's especially lucky - maybe a book on magic which he might use to escape.

Going between the rows of shelves with a pile of books in his arms, stacked up to his chin, which he rests on them to keep the precarious stack stead, suddenly he notices something. The section clearly marked 'history' is entirely empty - the section which was sure to be most useful to him. Several books from the top fall from his stack as he whips around to be sure it hasn't simply moved over to the next shelf, or that his eyes are otherwise playing tricks on him. And then he throws the others down, shaking his head and gripping his it with both hands.]

Aah, what the hell?! You're kidding me, right?! Hey, someone forgot to put the books away, you can't just leave a whole section empty...!

Floor 14

[Through the stress of the day, around the time that would be called 'after dinner', Waver heads back to his room and slips a game into the front of his sweater (first checking no one will see, of course). He then goes down to the media room and finds a good corner to wind down and set up Admirable War Tactics.]

Archer's the last Servant I want to see win, too. It's good, for Berserker to use Archer's own weapons against him. That's how it should be.

[If he can just get Berserker to fight the right Servant.]

I didn't recognize you. I don't know if anyone would recognize me. But I don't have much to do with the other Masters.

[Other than his will to kill Tokiomi.]

I'm glad you survived.

[He's not looking for others to die.]

The War isn't over for me, if I can just get back to it. I'll be careful, but I know Berserker can win.

I didn't want anyone to see me. [Another cough.]

Even someone who might be trustworthy otherwise-- it's a war. They're my enemies. I know the Tohsaka Master, that's all. Archer's Master. I'd never trust him.

Caster... I fought one of his monsters right before I came here. [He frowns.] He can't be allowed to continue. [He'd almost killed Rin.] Did someone stop him?

[Kariya shakes his head.]

I would. I'm going to attack Tohsaka.

I wouldn't attack any other Master, but I have reason to fight him. It isn't petty, and I know he could kill me. I don't care. [But he pauses, looks thoughtful for a moment.] But otherwise, I agree with you.

I'm glad you stopped Caster. That's good. [He frowns again.] If there's any way I can prevent the destruction, I will. I don't know what happened, but--I'll do my best. I don't want something like that to happen either. Innocents shouldn't have to die.

[He extends his hand.]

I'm Kariya. Kariya Matou.

You're right. It is different. It's personal. Sometimes we have to do things, no matter what.

Maybe you could have won.

[Kariya shakes his hand.]

It's nice to meet you, Waver Velvet.

Tokiomi is stronger than I am, but I'll fight him anyway. It's what I have to do. I have to win. Pride--isn't my reason.

I don't know about that, I can be an idiot. [He laughs, not particularly happily, then coughs again. That's stating it mildly, as far as he's concerned. It takes him a few moments to recover.]

But I'm glad, too. You seem like a good person.

Maybe.

Tokiomi hurt someone very important to me. What he did to her is something I can't forgive. That's why I'm fighting in the War, to save the person he hurt.

She isn't, but if I win, she'll be better. That's why I have to win, no matter what. If I don't--

[But he breaks off. He doesn't want to think about that.]

I don't care about the Grail. I just want Sakura to be happy. I don't know why all the others are fighting. What about you?

That isn't a bad wish. Who doesn't want to be respected? But you don't need the respect of those people, the magi. Their respect isn't worth anything.

Magecraft can be a terrible thing. I'm not a very good magus, but I never wanted to be.

I've always seen magecraft as ugly, but maybe you're right. Magic could do beautiful things, if people would let it. [After all, Rin and Sakura have the power of magecraft, and he can't think ill of them.] It's the old families. They have too much power. The way things are run is wrong, it only hurts people.

[He should know, considering his heritage.]

The War is terrible. No one should have to take part in it.

[He simply had to. It's more awful magecraft, of the kind Zouken likes, and nothing Zouken likes can be any good.]

I hope you can prove yourself some other way now.

[They have a similar sore spot, if for different reasons.]

Anyone or anything else... You're right. All they care about is their power and influence. They don't care who they hurt. They treat their children like pawns in a game.

They don't deserve their power. They should be abolished. Look at my family, they've been around for so long, but what have they done for anyone? Nothing. And the other families aren't much better.

I wish that something could change it, but they'll never change on their own, and who else can make them?

[Kariya smiles. Waver sounds so determined. He likes that.]

I hope you're right. I hope you can. I'd give anything to see it changed. The families should have to answer to someone.

I don't want anyone else to have to go through what Sakura and I have. If it could be changed, that would make me happy.
