[V/V is glad that she can simply fly over the hedge maze - it makes spending time in the garden so much easier. The wonderful plants and flowers here were one of the things she liked best about the tower - as scary as it was, it was still alive.

Hm, but there weren't many people who stopped on this floor to smell the roses, right...?

Anyone who makes it out of the hedge maze will see that V/V is on her knees carefully uprooting flowers from the ground and gathering them into her arms.]

[Later, V/V will be walking around knocking on each room in the dormitories. Yes. All of them. When the door opens - if it opens at all - she'll smile and pick out one of the flowers from the large bundle she's carrying.]

Would you like a flower?

[You can also catch her in the hallway before she moves on to the next room.]

[She's not the only one that likes the quiet and the beauty of the maze. Fou-Lu could transform to get over it, but it's easy enough for him to jump and then speed over the top of the maze, going fast enough that his weight doesn't press on the hedges very much and send him tumbling. He leaps down, and takes a deep breath - before spotting the girl.]

[He doesn't say anything yet, just watches her with wary green eyes.]

[She spots him too, and speaks up with a smile.]

Oh, hello! Do you like the gardens too?

... Indeed. 'Tis not the same as the gardens of our palace when we wert ruler of the Empire, but 'tis pleasing nonetheless.

[Wings... the only clan he knows that has wings like that... hm.]

... Art thou from Wyndia, by any chance?

[She shakes her head.] I'm from the Land of Steel. I think it's still called Earth in most people's worlds. Are you from Wyndia?

[He shakes his head.]

Wyndia be part of the Eastern Kingdoms. We ruled the Fou Empire. But we art from neither, for we wert summoned.

Where were you summoned from?

[You have to have been called from somewhere. Like Venus.]

... Another world. One we cannot remember, for our summoning was incomplete and had errors in the making of it.

Oh... I'm sorry to hear that.

'Tis not something to be mourned. We do not remember it, so we suppose we cannot be sorrowful about it.

But it's a bad thing, so it's something I'm sympathetic about. Sympathetic is the word for how people feel, isn't it?

... We suppose. We art not terribly concerned about it, though. More important be our reunion with our other half.

Unfortunately, no. And it wilt be a bit of time before his path in the world we wert brought from leads him to us. But he wilt come. Neither of us canst resist the pulling we feel towards each other.

I hope you find each other soon. It hurts to be lonely.

[... He's quiet for a long moment.]

We art Endless. We art alone except for the other Endless. We art tasked to watch over the world once our tasks are done. 'Tis simply the way things art.

Even if it's meant to be like that, it can hurt once you know other people and know what you've missed.

[... He just laughs at that. There's a distinctly broken and desperate edge to the sound, though.]

Haa... we art aware of what mortals do to each other. Connections with others only brings pain and further illustrates that they art unfit to inhabit the world.

...I don't think that's right. Even if mortals have pain, the way they carry on despite that pain is inspiring to things like me.

... We do not know what manner of creature thou art, but mortals art ignorant, prideful animals. They doth lie to one another, injure themselves and their fellows, and they kill each other and all around them for sport! Their folly is immeasurable! They art cruel and foolish...

Thou sayest thou believeth in them and their world? That thou dost find it favorable and pleasing? These be but fleeting sentiments! They mean nothing.

They do all that. I won't deny it. But they do so many kind things for each other as well. They have the capacity to love as much as they have to hate. A human can be ignorant and prideful or he can be selfless and help all those who are in need around him.

I believe that the beauty of humans at their best outweigh the ugliness of humans at their worst.

... When we awoke from our slumber, we wert supposed to be greeted by crowds. Instead we wert greeted by guns and monsters. The promises they hath made to use their strength for goodness hath been broken. Instead they doth use their strength to make war upon each other, again and again.

They art immeasurably foolish creatures, who doth use sorcerous and thaumaturgical powers to torture their fellow mortals. They dared to use such a thing upon us, hoping it wouldst slay us. Instead, they hath given us yet another reason to destroy them.

The emperor of the Empire that doth bear our name attempted to slay us, despite the agreement that his rule wouldst return to us. He paid for his crimes, and so will the others.

We wert intended to be the Dragon of the Future, the Yorae Dragon, destined to bring great peace or great destruction. They hath forced our path. They shalt become as dust upon the fleeting wind.

I'm sorry. That's horrible.

[She rises, leaving the plants where they are for the moment.] Can I hug you? You deserve it.

[... Okay that breaks his glare and leaves him just... staring in confusion.]

Wh... we art not truly familiar with the reasons other creatures engage in such a think. Why dost thou wish to... hug us?

Because I can't fix what has happened to you or change the way people think and behave in your world. But hugs sometimes make people feel a little better even though nothing has changed - I think it has to do with the contact making you feel like you have support.

It's a very strange human thing, but I like it.
