ᴇɴᴛʀʏ ᴏɴᴇ
Characters: Yukiteru and YOU
Setting: Room 2-20 & Cafeteria
Format: Prose initially, but I'll match!
Summary: Yukki arrives the morning after the 'happy end.' He's not taking it well.
Warnings: A kid dangerously close to going into shock after all he's been through;; also spoilers for Mirai Nikki.
Room 2-20:
The poor kid is obviously freezing. It's quite a jump from a moderate climate like Japan in mid-summer to the frigid temperatures like this; combine that with the fact that he's here at all, and everything that had happened just before arriving here, and it's a miracle he hasn't completely gone into shock yet. Operative word here: yet.
He's seated on his bed, the blankets wrapped tightly around himself, including a bright blue blanket that looked as if it had seen a lot of wear and tear over the years. There's an open cellphone on his lap, plugged into a nearby wall, and he's been staring at it intently since he arrived here.
UNKNOWN DATE, 12:19 PM :: A NEW LIFE BEGINS IN THE TOWER.
There is no entry after this. He's never had that problem before, and it really doesn't help his state of mind right now. And 'unknown date?'
... Yes. Of course. They failed. He and Yuno both did. It's the only conclusion, and it perfectly explains what he read in those letters. The world was destroyed, time and space torn asunder by what Deus warned them about. The Survival Game was over, and nobody won. It was true, then... Yuno did love him, despite her attempts to persuade both of them otherwise. She couldn't kill him any more than he could kill her. And he couldn't have thought of a worse way to confirm what he already knew than this.
Yukiteru falls sideway onto his bed, wrapping the blankets tigher around himself. It's hard to tell if the shaking is caused by stress, or just shivering.
Cafeteria
Yukki has been sitting there for a while, staring at the oatmeal. He's tried to make it a bit better; but he can't eat it. He hasn't touched it, and it isn't from the fact that he knows it's going to taste bad. He just has no appetite right now, and he hasn't for 24 hours now, from the time he woke up in his own world, to when he woke up here, knowing what was going to happen that day. This could have been a five-star steak and he still wouldn't have wanted to eat it. Especially not in this temperature.
It's clear to anyone who sees him he's upset, and hasn't taken to the Tower well at all. Especially since he hasn't seen hide nor hair of Yuno since arriving here, and if he's here for the reason he thinks he is, then surely she has to be, as well. After all, isn't it both of their faults their universe was destroyed? Through their inaction?
He doesn't want to think about it, but he can't help it. The Survival Game has now officially taken everything from him, including, as it would appear, Yuno. He had nothing left to lose. And as it would appear, nothing to gain, either.
He closes his eyes, and looks down, fighting back tears.

Cafeteria

Probably not. If she was in even a similar mindset to how she was before he woke up here... she's taking this even worse than he was. Woe to anyone who crossed her path right now.

"I'm sorry, I haven't seen her. However, if I do find her, I'll drag her over to you, alright?"

Understatement of the year, but he's really, really hoping Tohko gets the picture without him having to go into more detail. Yukki isn't stupid, he knows full well what Yuno's capable of at this point. And somehow, he's not optimistic that a change in scenery will do much good, if at all.
no subject
Tohko nodded. "Alright then. That shouldn't be too hard. I'll just have to tell her that I'm not interested in you like that. I..don't like anyone like that right now.."
Well, that was an outright lie. However, Tohko knew that her feelings for Enoch were better left unsaid. They would only hurt him in the long run. Better to let them die on the vine and have him suffer their parting less than tell him and have their parting really wound him. However, getting those feelings to die wasn't easy.
no subject
He doubts it. Yuno... wasn't exactly reasonable. "Be careful around her."
no subject
Tohko grinned. She wasn't the type to make enemies easily-unless the person was something like Ganon-so she would probably be alright.
no subject
... well, at least here, death isn't permanent, according to her. But even so, it isn't something he's willing to test out for himself any time soon. He wonders how Yuno would deal with something like that.
At the very least, it would render the Survival Game effectively impossible.
"Good luck," he says quietly, and stares down at the oatmeal again. He's still not hungry, but he might as well just get this over with. He picks up the spoon, and dips it into the putrid sludge, and takes a bite. It's disgusting, and his face shows it. But after seeing dismembered humans, people being decapitated, him jamming one of his darts into somebody's eyeball, and Yuno disemboweling people on a fairly regular basis, his stomach is at least strong enough not to throw it back up, even as his taste buds screamed in agony at the foul taste.

Tohko sighed as she watched the look on his face as he ate the oatmeal. So that was what it tasted to normal humans. Since her taste buds were shot, she had no idea what the oatmeal actually tasted like to normal people. Of course..this guy's taste buds could be different from everyone else's too.
"Hey..if you want to split that with me, I don't see why you can't. Just as long as the oatmeal is finished off."
no subject
But at her offer, he blinks. "No, it's okay. I, um... well, my stomach's a lot stronger than it should be, after all the things I've seen." Which is why he's taking another spoonful, and despite the fact that it looks like he's suppressing his gag reflex, swallows it down without leaving it in his mouth long enough for the taste to linger. He then chases it down with the glass of water he had nearby.
no subject
"Your stomach may be a little tougher, but that doesn't mean that the taste has improved at all. That stuff is pretty revolting. You'll finish it off quicker if you have someone helping you. Really, I don't mind! And I don't think your friend is watching us from the shadows, so you don't have to worry."
Tohko, having found a spoon, sat back down next to the boy and took a bite of the oatmeal. It tasted like sand, but that was normal for her, so she managed to swallow it down with a grin.

Perhaps out of habit, he withdraws his Future Diary, and looked down at it. There were a few more entries there relating to names he's even heard before, but there was still no mention of Yuno.
... okay, she's safe. For now. If there was anyone his Diary would be telling him about, it was her.
"... fine. Go ahead." He said it before he could have even stopped her from eating it if he tried. "Just don't tell Yuno if she shows up... for your sake."
no subject
"Oh, don't worry, I won't. If she's really jealous, she'd probably get the wrong idea. This oatmeal is pretty gross, so I just want to help you finish it off, if you find it that sickening." Tohko replied, taking another bite.
no subject
Without another word, he chokes down another spoonful of this putrid slime. It's so disgusting, but if he has to eat it, he will. It's not like he's never had other unpleasant, gut-wrenching experiences before... and this isn't anywhere near as bad as that night he saw the shriveled, decomposing corpses in Yuno's 'secret room.'
... now's not the time to think about that, Yukki.
no subject
"You know, you can add things to the oatmeal to improve it's flavor. I know it's not much, but I could crumble up some nutrition bars and see if that helps, if you want."
no subject
... but to say he didn't appreciate her shouldering the burden of this disgusting sludge would have been a lie.
no subject
Or maybe he was homesick. Worried, Tohko sighed a little bit before taking another bite of the oatmeal.
no subject
... well, there was that, too. This oatmeal was disgusting, and his state of mind at the moment certainly didn't help.
no subject
There wasn't much oatmeal left in the bowl, so Tohko quickly finished it off before getting up, grabbing a nutrition bar, sitting back down, and handing it to the boy.
"Here you go. This may help take away that taste."
no subject
She was right, though. He needed to take care of himself. Death being impermanent or not here, if Yuno did show up here... she'd go completely insane if anything happened to him. And he didn't want that, for anyone's sake; especially not Yuno's.
"... thanks."
no subject
Tohko then paused. "Come to think of it..what is your name?"
no subject
Yeah... she would need to know his name, wouldn't she? "Yukiteru. ... if you meet her, Yuno will probably call me 'Yukki.'"
